Honestly the sales are fairly decent. It really only disadvantages you if you want the latest. Also ps plus extra makes the digital better value now
I felt similarly - what made me finally pull the trigger and buy was the new PS plus extra package - I know some people don't like the gamepass subscription model but I adore it. Solid catalogue as is, and I expect they'll only continue to add more first party games as time goes on if you're happy to wait a bit

Although I have disc version most of the grants I play are PS plus extra games. Digital so much easier than getting up and swapping discs. For someone like me who is just a casual gamer and who hasn't played many games over the last few years, PS plus extra has been super fun. You will need a ssd upgrade though.
