Make sure all the drivers are up to date using something like Driver Easy, and also bump up the minimum processor state to 50% (in your power plan). Doing these things helped on my J4125 model that I use as HTPC.
Just don’t.. buy a cheap NUC if you have to but these are laggy due to terrible thermals and/or power.
It’s an exercise in buyers remorseRunning Linux with docker will be fine, prob not for everyday use
Unless you absolutely need x86, you'd be better off with a Pi.
Even then, a cheap NUC will perform better even if it's slower clocked due to just being a better board and design.e.g. https://www.umart.com.au/product/intel-nuc-boxnuc7cjyhn4-cel…
RIP to this deal 🖕
Good raspberry pi alternative. I wonder if you can power them on a hdmi port adaptor
I don't think they work backwards.
The HDMI port in that is intended to be an output, not an input.Oh cheers, i thought that was it's power source too. But looking closer its a micro usb slot, which is even better.
HDMI doesn't carry usable power.
I'm unaware of anything that is HDMI powered.@ESEMCE: It does carry useable power - active HDMI cables are HDMI powered, as are fiber optic HDMI cables.
Unfortunately the spec only asks for at least 50mA, so there isn't enough to power a device like this. You can use injectors like this https://www.lindy.com.au/hdmi-power-injector-cable to up the ampage to 500mA…
@Nom: We have different definitions of usable power if you're counting active HDMI cables and HDMI Switches as usable.
Even your linked power injector states this.I guess I'm incorrect in my "unaware of anything that is HDMI powered." statement, cause I own a few "HDMI powered" switches, but the end result is that you get signal from one end of the cable to another, rather than a device completely unrelated to transmitting signal being powered by the HDMI cable.
misleading title
it's not a 4-core J4125I use it to display web pages on another monitor. Best use for this laggy stick. If you're looking for a raspberry pi x86 alternative. This is good
might be good with Chrome OS Flex
I grabbed the J4125 8GB DDR4 256GB eMMC Windows 11 Pro version of this, for $227 recently on a recent OzB. It's ok. Not a Cray supercomnputer, but for web browsing and email, perfectly fine, lightweight and small.
We have a sample of one of these at work, and using the Windows desktop on it is amazingly laggy. Proceed with caution, even at this price.
