Just a reminder that Need for speed Heat (non deluxe) is currently free for another 2 days as part of September PS plus lineup.

Fortunately this doesn't require a subscription in order to get. And don't you need to keep an active PS Plus subscription going in order to keep playing the free game from PS Plus?. This is just a $5.39 payment and is yours to keep for good without a need for an active monthly subscription.

I thought it was pretty good for the price.

        • +4

Yeah, cause the resale value on a $5 physical game would be so amazing, especially one given away for free….

  • +2

wondering if ordered to play for PS5 will it work?. Only got PS5 recently. Late to the game.

    • +4

Yes it works on PS5. Best way to play it

    • All PS4 games work on PS5 except for a very very very few games (usually demos or games that have been pulled from the store etc)

      • +1

Not entirely true…. Some games are marked as PS5 compatible but they have bad lighting and texture issues (admittedly not many games in my experience) so far I've only noticed it on "mafia 3" and "assassin's creed syndicate".
But I've played a lot of PS4 games on my PS5 and 95% have been fine with no issues.

      • I remember Hitman 1 (2016) original version was made incompatible on PS5 by the devs so that PS+ version wouldn't work and would have to be rebought.

Square Enix had the IP & publishing rights at the time, so it's likely they got the PS+ payments. IO later bought the franchise off the publisher.

Regardless it, along with how they handled the PC release and previous levels as DLC, have made no longer root for IOInteractive.

PlayStation let publishers charge for PS5 upgrades, which is how IO should have handled the first game.

It works for PS5 via backwards compatibility mode, but unfortunately it is locked to ~4K/30fps, bah.

On the other hand, Hot Pursuit Remastered runs at ~4K/60fps:

Same deal (2 days free/95% off) for PC on Steam.

    • Yes but that was $5 which isn't exactly the same price. Not however a console version if you're into console gaming.

However i bought it from Origin for $4.99 to add to my collection. I also bought the PS4 version. It looked great on the PS4 Pro.

  • Does this have a ps5 graphics upgrade with it

    • +1

The web page mentions nothing about PS5 graphics upgrade. However i would assume that it would play on the PS5 probably with PS4 Pro level graphics. It still looks great even with that level of graphics.

    • No PS5 upgrade included.

    • +1

This version is 30fps only and with base PS4 graphics. It’s not very smooth to look at and not very responsive to play. Look for other games to get a dose of current gen performance. Or, wait for a PS5 upgraded version.

Really really wanted to like this but just could not get into the handling model, I hated it

    • +1

Lol keep at it you will get it better

    • Completely agree.
Although there is a "fine tune" settings if you press the D-pad.
I changed it to "brake drift" instead of "accelerate drift?" and I changed the sensitivity a bit too… Definitely helped a lot for my wheel.
But after playing GT7 so long it feels too arcadey and handling is definitely weird.

I wanted to like this game and to fill that Underground 2 gap which I've been trying to fill for almost two decades.

But the driving physics which NFS have been using for the last 10+ years are complete shite.

    • Agreed.

    • ….no… Underground 2 did not come put that long ago…. surely I'm not that old now

  • +4

It’s only $2.80 to upgrade if you are ps plus member

    • Mine days the deluxe edition is unavailable because I already own another edition :(

  • You really don't need the Delux edition. Normal edition is fine

  • +1

NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered is also $5. Runs 60fps on PS5.

    • Unfortunately not on sale for PC, I'd say hot persuit is a better version than heat

      • Yeah that's a bummer. I agree, Hot Pursuit is the one to get :)

      • Actually, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered (PC version) is currently on sale, priced at A$3.99 on Origin platform

Its been on sale for a week already, so the current A$3.99 sale price might not last much longer …

  • Thanks OP!

  • I’m looking for something similar to Original Need for speed or Asphalt where you can play split screen or on network with your friend on PS5, any suggestions please?

    • You can cross play, or party up via online play with this

      • Yes I tried few times but not the same fun :( its too much real

  • Bargain, thanks OP.

  • As someone who has avoided NFS since Underground ive surprised myself how much this game has pulled me in. Getting a good drift is just magic - The games locale is a bit boring but i commend their ability to make this feel like a 2000s arcade racer.
