yeah, but not much different about configures as well as you have to pay $798.40 instead, better?
Huh?
according to benches there's not that much in it
200mhz better base clock but up to 2,3ghz on turbo
not worth $160+ IMO
if you need to crank some cycles, farm it off to your desktop pc
wrong post
i3 vs i5…
All these $632 and $798 model have ONLY 1 USB Ports??
welcome to "world of ultrabook"…that's what they said!
My Acer have 2.
My Toshiba Ultrabook has 3 ;) USB2.0 x 2 and USB3.0 x 1
Toshiba z830 has 3, I think only 1 is USB3.0 though. And it has a matte screen, and backlit KB. Sadly it's also the most expensive by far :(
That is incorrect, there is one ubs 2 and one usb 3 on the Folio 13-1008TU
it doesn't matter as if this post can help people look into the best among the best?
Well it does matter if everyone starts posting every single laptop which they consider to be the best. This laptop should just be commented on in the posted deal (which it was).
since not everyone has read it, just like you, otherwise you would have not dropped any lines on here right ;)? and according to 'budget' aspect, this is the cheapest out of the cheaps.
Normally this would have been unpublished as a duplicate, however because of the high number of votes by the time a mod got to this thread, the post will remain published as an exception.
Thanks though to all those that have reported this.
I am checking them out between this and http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/hp/14-inch-ultrabook-sku-…
The Envy 4 is newer and look better imo, both same price and similar specthe folio 13 only have 1 RAM slot and "can not" be upgrade, it has a 128G mSSD which is hard to replace.
the envy 4 have 1 inch larger screen, 1 free RAM slot, and a mSATA slot that you can add a mSSD as cache later to improve HDD performanceYes this is true but the beauty of the folio 13 is its much better battery life, and I prefer the smaller size. Depends what your priorities are.
HP Envy 4 at the same price: http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/ultrabooks/…
I guess you didn't think about the ssd hey
That's weird, because in order for it to be called an 'Ultrabook' it must have SSD in it of some sort.
not really… there's budget ultrabooks like that acer or Toshiba one or something.. can't remember that had a hdd too
This upgradeable to windows 8 for $20?
If it runs Windows, then yes.
Thanks dawg.
Not sure why you would want windows 8….
hackintosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You also get a free pair of beats solo with this model. Valued at $279 rrp

I think it is…. It is listed on that page and I dont see where it says it is no longer included ?
HP Folio 13 13-1016TU
Look under point 5.
Says the 13-1016TU is only eligible for purchases between Friday, 20 January 2012 and Monday, 30 April 2012.
I lodged my form in early may and am still waiting for the headphones. I would not buy this just for the headphones, as mail in rebate programs are designed to be difficult to recoup.
Have been waiting for this puppy to drop. Will Dick Smith price match this (for QFF points!)?
I'd like to know too!
awesome username, btw :)
it was a typo originally lol :P thanks.
I bought this when HN had their $300 cashback offer on for the Ultrabooks… I've never looked back… its a great machine for travel…
Same here… great little machine for travelling.
And a third for this, had one for a few months, awesome uni machine.
Your username could have done with some capital letters, I'm not sure if it's WebTherapist or WebTheRapist haha
both are acceptable then ;), wouldn't mind stop people from creative imagination, inspiring the next ;). Oh, by the way, any chances you get out of ideas for anything, more than welcome to contact me: www.5therapy.com
Gone ahead and placed my order. I went down to have a look at it instore, and it feels like a well built machine. Aluminium case (at least where in counts), fairly lightweight, the screen while not great is usable. Keyboard has rubberized keys that are well spaced and easy to type with. I wasn't able to actually use it, they had it set up on a screensaver, which was weird, but I didn't bring any programs or hd mkv files to stress test with anyway. Appearance wise though it seems to tick all the boxes. JB had this for $780 instore, after the 20% discount.
It has 2 usb ports, ethernet, 1 audio port and hdmi. That seems low, but its really everything you need. I didn't see a card reader on the model instore. Anything else, like DVD reader or serial ports, can be used with an usb adapter if you need it most of the time.
Only possible concern I could see was that it seemed to run a little hot/noisy, but the room it was in was heated fairly high, and it had been running virtually all day.
Amazing to see this has had 3500 clicks in less than a day.
The one feature I really like is the backlit keyboard. Hi the f5 key and it lights up nicely for late night typing. Only problem is that you need to use fn f5 to refresh a webpage (it is configurable), so for some f5 machine gunners it might be a pain.
Bought one this afternoon, nice machine. Got the store manager to not only match the online price but round it down to an even 600 bucks. 600 bucks for a 13 inch ultrabook with an SSD? That's my best bargain yet.
Disclaimer: the store manager is my mate's brother :-)
So, I suppose that excludes you from posting a receipt? No offence, I'm just asking … >_<
I have a work colleague wanting to buy a laptop and I'm suggesting she gets this laptop. Any chance you could ask your mate's bro to give her a deal if you are in Melbourne?
too bad i missed this deal. Do you guys think the EOFY sale would have something similar?
its on again..
Thanks I scored one from chaddie
better deal
