I have been playing the shit out of this for the past week or so. Ended up being "35 hours or more" of play time.

I honestly felt I've been borderline playing it too much, but then came across a guy 2 days ago who already had over 200 hours in the game. Same guy had over 6200 hours in the second game.
Makes me lose hope that I'll ever be any good at this

Games there for you to enjoy… That's all that matters.. Don't worry about anyone else

Totally. Games are there to be fun.

If you want to be good at something consider your health, wealth and relationships.

Nice to hear such stuff for a change. We all too often post how we bought this and 12 months later haven't even unsealed it yet. I'd you have the time - time is there for you to enjoy. Have a blast dude.

    • I saw someone today say that the single player for this is really good. Have you played any of that? I generally don't play online at all but it looks kinda interesting.

      • It's great, but a bit short. Online is where you're going to get the most value out of the game.

          I second this.

I've played all three Splatoon campaigns and this one has been the most fun so far. The way they've designed the over-world makes it rewarding and fun to explore more so than just finding each new level.

    • I've been playing it daily too - plus looking at the nintendo app for gear changes to buy

Comparison is the thief of joy, has never been more literal…

    • I was a bit nervous about playing online as I'm not that good at video games. I ended up just jumping in. I did start out pretty bad, last every time out of both teams. Since I upgraded to better weapons though, I'm usually second in my team. Still getting smashed as a team each time though, with different people. Still pretty fun and I'm getting a bit better. I've played around 20-30 games I think.

      6200 hours?

A normal full time worker only works ~1800 hrs a year!!! This guys has spent ~3.4 years FTE in a game WTF…

So is this only good if you have Nintendo online membership? If so how much does that cost.
So unless you have membership then this is a no go is this common with Nintendo games.
Having to have membership to pay it.

I have a Nintendo laid aside for sons Xmas will be close to 7 yrs by then and is Mario daft, plays wii right now and I know this ain’t a Mario game but loos fun.
But I’m not sure about the online part of this

    • Think its like $15 a year

      • $30 for the year, if you want N64 & Sega Mega Drive it's $60
        https://www.nintendo.com.au/nintendo-switch-family/online-se…

Cheapest way to get online is buy the Nintendo epshop gift cards when they are on sale, think Coles have them for 10% off atm

        • I’m sure this offer will be available again as it’s son’s Xmas no point in getting now but is it worth getting is it free games to play online something like xbox

        • +1

I think it's 15% off from Tomorrow at Coles

          Coles

As you can have 8 people in your family people sell spots in their family membership for ~$7 for basic and ~$14 for expansion for the year. They're in the Ozbargain classifieds all the time. Having said that there is some kind of parental controls, which I think are separate to the Switch parental controls, so you might prefer to set it up yourself. I don't know too much about it, but someone with kids may know more.

  • Is this game ok played with the joycons, or should i factor in buying a pro controller with it?

    • The pro controller is really comfortable and much better for most games!

    • get a 3rd party pro controller off gumtree. I use them after the real one died. They're fine.

    • Personally, I would say it's even better with the joycons. Gyro is a must for aiming, and it's much easier to hold a joycon in each hand and aim with the right one than it is to move around a pro controller with both hands. If you don't feel like using gyro, than it is probably better to use a pro controller.

  • Thanks pulled the trigger loved 2!

  • Damn, bought it on the weekend for $64! JB Hifi too…

  • Too lazy to try to post a deal from my mobile, but JB also has Ring Fit Adventure for $89, which should get discounted down to $80.1 with the code. Not the lowest it’s ever been, but could be low enough for some to pull the trigger if they’ve missed past deals.

And FE Warriors: Three Hopes is another (relatively) recent game that gets reduced to $57.60.

And the one I personally pulled the trigger for:
The House of the Dead Remake Limidead Edition, reduced to $39.6

  • Thanks OP I got one. I spent 900 hours on splatoon 2.

I love this game, no regrets buying it after release :)
