    PayPal still worth it?

Yes? Purely for a layer of protection when buying anything really.

I never once had to use paypal refunded returns as ebay plus covered return delivery, and amazon does too…

I agree it's still worth it.

Much easier/quicker to deal with PP than it is with my credit card/bank to dispute a transaction.

A bit disappointed the Refunded Returns service is coming to an end. I've only used it twice in over 100% transactions but was nice to not have to ask the seller who's paying for return shipping?

      • i cannot believe someone negged me lmao

        • And they did it again.

          Still, everyone needs a hobby.

      • stgeorge is super easy, you do it online once logged in.

Time wise its probably a bit quicker compared to paypal and they seem to process it quicker

      • "I've only used it twice in over 100% transactions…" ?

How did you get 'over 100% transactions' ?

    • think it's still worth it. I mean it doesn't cost anything. And it's a listed company, so up to a certain extent we'd have to trust that personal information is being handled safely etc.

just hope they dont pull a 'canadian truckers' on you!!

    • While eBay Plus has free returns, that doesn't cover the price of return shipping does it?? So if you have to pay $15 to return it, eBay doesn't pay you back the return postage costs do they?

        https://www.ebay.com.au/help/buying/buying-ebay-plus/buying-…

‘ Free returns on most eBay Plus items – if your item's the wrong size or you simply don't like it, you can send it back for free.’

        • Ha! Well there you go. I had always just used PayPal. Advantage to PayPal meant that it would be free for every store you purchased from, but I guess having the free eBay Plus returns is something, cheers.

Paypal went to shit when they stopped holding money in balance that you could do instant transfer on.

It's an outdated relic that does nothing for sellers, and for buyers is slowly just turning into afterpay.

Buyer protection is still decent, but it will be next to die.

that one will still hang on for a while yet, i think they realise that most people will drop it as soon as they do that, it's the only reason i am still using paypal, with their exorbitant conversion fees.

Also it's nice having your card details hidden from online vendors, in also feel a sure is more trustworthy if they accept PayPal

        • yes, but other services like zip/afterpay do the same…and you can even pay it off later! :D

    Is PayPal still worth it?

As a buyer I would still use it. As a seller? Esp on Scumtree/FB Marketplace, absolutely not.

I've used this a couple of times for Aliexpress and it was totally worth it.

    • Agreed

    • I thought they get rid of PayPal and pushed AliPay onto everyone? Bugger.

Not that I've had to use it. Only two disputes in recent times and in both cases Ali stepped in and refunded me at least 70-80% of purchase price and I got to keep the item.

  • that hurts…

paypal have been shitty for over 20 years

Saw the email. This is what paypal was great at. No idea why will I use paypal.
Though I never used this feature, this insurance was always what attracted me to paypal.

  • Only used it a handful of times over the decade-or-so that I've had PayPal. Very handy to have, but it's not a huge loss. Just sad that it's not there anymore.

  • +1

    Rip I've used it yearly.

Yeh just saw that email. Have used it a few times so was good to know it was there to fall back on.

It was a good feature that set them apart from other payment options.

  • +7

Damn, I use this all the time. It made me more willing to buy from retailers that don't offer free returns, usually smaller independent businesses.

Someone has to pay for the returns or your wrong buying choices. Why should it be them

  • +1

    This is sad.

  • Only used it twice and was easy to use. Was better to buy things without having to check who has to pay for return.

Used it 4 times recently, good for buying clothing online. Guess I am not buying clothing online anymore.

    Is PayPal still worth it?

    Isn't it free?

  • very very disappointing tbh, this was one of my main reasons to use PayPal for my purchase :(

  • +4

Paypal - Well I recently was scammed $7000 on 2 credit cards on my PayPal account.
Transactions made via ebay USA and items delivered to an address in the USA.
PayPal's reply is no responsibility and contact your bank.
    For your information.

2FA enabled? I don't know how that would be possible or why people don't enable 2FA.

      • +1

Exactly! Was 2FA used or not?

        • +2

          wow… i just realised i haven't turned it on for Paypal yet…

  • Sorry just realised you were replying to me.
Notification to me was from ebay USA - the usual thanks for your order etc.
Looked at my credit cards and saw the transactions.
Alll for the same amount and going to some US address.
All sorted now but I was disappointed with the PayPal response.

  • I don't use it regularly but it gave me confidence buying clothes and shoes that I could return if they didn't fit.

I will probably continue using it for the simple fact a seller won't have access to my credit card details.

Are there any other options for free returns?

  • very disappointing, this was great for ordering clothes in 2 sizes from the US to get the best fit
we get bitten by USD 50-100 shipping fees already so at least the Paypal returns limited any extra damage

    • Think it's reason like this that they removed the free returns. Good for us, bad for them.

  • Four days left peeps

  • I really loved this feature. Most of my wardrobe is UK based womenwear. This made returns easier. Oh well! 'twas great while it lasted
