Have heaps already. The discounts are regular with Ampol, particularly when you can sometimes get the cards for 5% off in-store.

Still, this is a good deal for now.

  • Nice discount. There are still some Ampol branded stores that accept the Woolworths fuel discount too.

  • Don't forget Hyundai and Toyota owners get discount at Ampol too using the appropriate owners app.

  • Thanks!

    All claimed?

  • Saw this too late, but thanks for the heads up.

Is it just me or are there more and more Ampols not accepting these anymore?

I believe it's just because staff have no idea how to use them.

Check on Ampol website and make sure the site accepts Ampol Cash Digital Card.

If the site is owned by Ampol just ask them to click on QR Code option on the screen and it should scan. I find most Foodary staff know about these QR Code. Some Ampol only branding site had no idea.

Now if the site is not owned by Ampol but has Ampol Branding. For example Cue or Swagman Roadhouse. The site need to type in the barcode into the Ampol Terminal to redeem the digital gift card.

To be upfront and honest it is so much easier to redeem the physical Ampol gift card compared to the Ampol Digital Gift Card.

Digital gift cards also can't be used at OPT (unmanned site) where physical ampol gift cards can be used provide you have a pin.

… then there’s the fact that EG Ampol / Caltex Woolworths locations only accept physical AmpolCash gift cards.

        • So confusing! One reason I stopped going to any of them. Sticking with BP and 7-11. Should give Ampol a low score the next time I get a survey

          • @kyle: Sorry to say BP recently introduced a digital gift card with the same problem. BP actually has a few independent in WA so it can get confusing.

I forgot to mention this was excluding EG.

The whole Caltex Woolworths deal was very confusing. Some were owned by Ampol and some owned by EG previously Woolworths.

With the rebranding it has gotten a lot clearer.

Really the whole problem with the EG Ampol owned sites was the use of non Ampol terminals. I believe those terminal's would have been Woolworths.

EG site need to be treated completely separately from all other Ampol sites.

Easiest thing to do is use the Ampol website to find the participating stores, so you don't accidentally fill up somewhere that won't accept it. There should be a link in the gift card section or challenge section to the Ampol website.

  • Holy s… Ampol Woolworths are not accepting ampol digital cash.

Unfortunately, Ampol Woolworths is an ambiguous term, so I’m not sure what you’re actually referring to…

All 46 Ampol Woolworths Metro and Ampol Woolworths MetroGo locations (except Ampol Woolworths MetroGo Lambton) accept AmpolCash Digital gift cards.

      • Those locations are operated by Ampol themselves, but Ampol licence the Woolworths Metro and Woolworths MetroGo branding from Woolworths and also sell some groceries and other convenience store items supplied by Woolworths.

      • You can tell you’re at one of these locations, as the convenience store will have Woolworths Metro or Woolworths MetroGo branding above the entrance.

All EG locations (even Caltex Woolworths locations that recently replaced Caltex branding with Ampol branding) do not accept AmpolCash Digital gift cards.

      • Those locations are operated by EG, and EG and Ampol were embroiled in a number of legal disputes that finally ceased in April 2022. I doubt EG was very keen on working with Ampol during this period to figure out how to accept AmpolCash Digital gift cards whilst trying to tear up the Fuel Supply Agreement!

      • EG also currently uses a POS system originally developed for Woolworths Group (not Ampol) before AmpolCash Digital gift cards existed, so it would take a substantial change (including new barcode scanners) for EG to start accepting AmpolCash Digital gift cards.

      • EG still accept physical AmpolCash gift cards though, so if you see a 5% discount on physical AmpolCash gift cards sold at Ampol (which happens once or twice a year), those can be redeemed at all EG locations across Australia.

      • You can tell when you’re at an EG location, as the convenience store either has Woolworths or EG branding above the entrance.

It’s a hot mess at the moment, but it was even worse before EG resolved their legal disputes with Ampol!

      • I checked website map ampol digital cash accept store. Near my house there are several Ampol Woolworths near the Woolworths super market and several normal Ampol with Foodary.
        Only normal Ampol accept.
May be all the Ampol Woolworths store near me were Caltex Woolworths before.

        • Anything that is a Woolworths Caltex or an EG Fuelco Ampol on the Ampol store locator is an EG location.

          • Woolworths Caltex is actually the name Ampol (more accurately, Caltex) used to refer to the former joint venture sites where the site operations were operated by Woolworths Group staff, not Ampol / Caltex staff.

          • Woolworths Group tended to build / operate the old joint-venture locations near Woolworths supermarkets, although this was not always true.

If you see Caltex Woolworths on the Ampol store locator, that is an Ampol location operated either by Ampol themselves or a franchisee that is not EG. I think there are only three Caltex Woolworths locations left on the Ampol store locator in Australia.

          • As you probably expected, Caltex Woolworths was name used by Ampol / Caltex to refer to the former joint venture sites where the site operates were handled by Ampol / Caltex, not Woolworths Group.
