I noticed this eBay deal is quite popular and found that the official 70mai store sell it cheaper on AliExpress if you don't mind waiting 2-4 weeks for delivery. 70mai dashcams are excellent value for the price and tend to provide good video quality with an easy to use app. I previously used the original 70mai Cam and now use the A800S 4K with a rear camera.

Featuring voice control in English, Sony IMX307 sensor with HD night vision, 1920x1080@30fps, 240mAh battery, 130° field of view, WDR, G-Sensor with automatic emergency recording, loop recording and WiFi for app control. There's a bundle on the listing with the hardware kit available for purchase too.

A must have for traffic accidents.
I wish there was something similar for bicycles.

Just need to attach a small camera like an Insta360 Go or a GoPro with an attachment like this. I attach a camera to my helmet.

      • I will probably get a DJI Action 3 or a hero11 mini and attach to handlebar. It is just so expensive and the battery life is not ideal… Definitely not a set an forget option…

Polaroid cube. Similar to Go Pro session.

i used cheap knock-off of that. i think it was called the sq11..? good for 45 minutes of recording which was more than enough for most trips. i always had a small powerbank with me or used my bike light to charge it up while i'm on the train and not using it.

There are - look at https://cycliq.com/bike-cameras/fly12-sport/ (an australian product)
Aldi and kogan sell their own branded versions at a much cheaper price point
Go pro's are ok but they don't have collision detection and event retension.

      • I considered Cycliq but it is not the best value and lots of user complaints…
Do you have links for aldi and kogan options? Could not find these…

These make good rear cameras if you already have a front one and are wanting to upgrade to a dual setup but don't want to rip out your perfectly fine front camera.
Just needs it's own power and SD card.

    • Should I buy 2, for front and back, then? :D

      • +1

Personally, if I was buying a new dual channel system, I would go for the a500s dual camera setup. Higher resolution front camera and GPS etc.

But this 1s camera is good if you just want a single camera at a budget price.

  • Does anyone know if this cam automatically turn on when you ignite the car? Or do you have to push the on/off button manually?

Looking to buy 2 of these to put each one in front and back

    • Turns on auto

      • Depends on your car wiring. Some are always on, others auto off… Found out the hard way

        • How does it stay auto on unless you hardwire it in to constant power instead of accessories?

    • that depends the car and how you connect it ?
as far as the unit concern, as soon as it gets power, it turns itself on.

I have the very first gen of this 70mai, still working well, paired with a high endurance SD card.

      • well I plan to connect it to USB port not hardwire it. Will it still automatically turn on/off?

        • +1

If your car 12V socket powers on when the ignition is started then it'll turn on automatically.

Thanks OP used the same codes to get the 70mai M300 at ~$63

  • Got one. Cheers OP

  • Thanks OP, quick question, when I check out Aliexpress added GST on top of the item so my total is $ 63.

Is there any way to avoid this?

    • Yes you can ship it to the International Space Station and then pick it up from there.

      • It is saying "AU$ based on current Mastercard rate, GST inclusive and stacks with cashback."

        • My bad kinda presumed you would be paying with Bitcoin.

Cheers OP picked up a 70mai M300 for around $60. Btw if you go into your AliExpress app settings and change currency to USD you can shave a few bucks off if you use a card with no international transaction fees (eg Macquarie debit and credit cards).

Also don't forget to go through ShopBack/CashRewards for possible cashback as well.
