I have one of these. Pretty happy with it for this price.

Only thing that sucks is watching back the footage on the device via wifi. It can be a little laggy and needs to buffer a lot.

  • I have green light flashing dead, still couldn't find a way to fix it.

  • +2

Is this good? I'm thinking to wait for the deal that includes the rear cam too - do you guys think the rear cam is important?

    • +2

Depends on whether you like to brake check people. I'd suggest not. Front cam will show clearly the jolt when you get if you get rear ended.

    • +3

Yes, for rear enders who drive off and people who suddenly speed up to prevent you changing lanes or try to overtake as you are merging

  • +2

So maybe pay a bit more for Viofo instead?

    • +2

      I suggest skip this one

      • Why

        • +10

my comment below, plus this is a battery dashcam which is not good when the inside of your car is too hot. Don't get me wrong, the video quality was good at first but then degrade and turned every bright things to purple

      • Depends on individual experiences, my first buy was Viofo, but it stopped working in few months, was pain to get refund. I have 2 being used daily for extensive time, in fact used it on interstate trips and not once it has overheated.

You may have had a bad experience with those, but that does not mean it is a bad product that's what i am saying.

        • +4

I think the point here is skip the model with a battery in it as otherwise bad s*it can happen during harsh weather conditions such as scorching australian summers. ✌️

          • +1

@kaleidoscope: Yeah, they don't make them for downunda conditions. Been through 2 or 3 dashcams myself.

        • As above been 5+ years still going strong.

    • hasnt faulted me (viofo) and their tech support is good. rocking their a139 duo with hardwired kit.

  • +1

Does this auto record when the car is turned on or do you have to enable it via the app before it starts recording?

    • +1

You can enable/disable audio recording in the app and it will stay that way when you start the car.

    • +2

It auto records when the car is turned on. The voice will tell you that it starts recording.

  • Can you see the number plate when moving?

    • +2

At 1080p you should be able to unless the quality is dogshit

  • +1

it was great until the video turned into purple-ish after 2 years, I think something wrong with the sensor, sometimes it turns back to normal again

    • +2

Dunno why somebody downvoted you for your anecdote.

      • It's a stupid system of voting for posts anyway , who cares wether people like it or not !

    • +7

2 yrs for $60+ seems great.
      Or buy blackvue for $700+

      • +6

i have both, dual channels blackvue on a suv, and a 70mi on a hatch.

Both have worked very well without any issues so far.

dont want to be personal, but if everyone negs a deal just because what s/he/it bought died after 2 years, we would not need to post any deals.

        • +2

first of all, it didn't die, it's a malfunction. Secondary, it's a personal point of view, so yeah, that's my opinion, based on my true story. No need to exaggerate between a $60+ with a $700 product, you just can go grab some better quality product, like Viofo. All the Xiaomi products and similar like that look very attractive and have heaps of functions but their app interface is impractical. Again, this is my opinion

    No capacitor? Useless

    • whats the capacitor do friend

      • Allows you to finish saving the video once you turn the car off, preventing corrupt files

        • ooo.

Im so confused why half of the people say its amazing lol and half dont

        • Allows you to finish saving the video once you turn the car off

No problem saving video once you turn the car off, until the green light of dead.

        • I think belongsinforums is incorrect. I have this dashcam and it charges during use. You get a good few minutes of battery once the car is turned off.

        • That's wrong. A capacitor is just a short-term battery replacement, more resilient to heat. A battery would infact be much batter at keeping the device on for longer.

      • +4

In the Australian heat/sun it's a Capacitor is a much better option than a battery that can expand and end up exploding.

The capacitor will unfortunately not have the same amount of backup power as the battery equipped cameras.

    • there is a battery

  • +1

    Suggest to skip this ONE.

Great dashcam - I have previous generation of the same model and have been using it for years. Wish there was something as cheap for a bicycle. The pricing of modern action cams (garmin or DJI) isn't really that great.

  • I have one and its been great

  • Hard to beat this one at this price.

  • Anyone know what kind of DC plug it uses? So I can hardwire it into the fuse box, thanks

    • +1

You need to get the car kit. Will have all the cables that goes into fuse box. I think this one is cable that goes into USB port.

    • +4

You can get "fuse taps" which are kinda cool.

      https://www.jaycar.com.au/double-mini-blade-fuse-socket-wire…

Basically pull power from an existing fuse. If this model requires 5v / USB just wire in either a USB charger or add a new 12v accessory (cig lighter) plug for one. You can just cut the end off any extender and wire it in.

Or if you're me at 20 years old you pull the fuse out, strip a wire wrap it tightly around the fuse and jam it back in. Just make sure it's on the "not always live" side haha.

      • +1

Yeah i'll probably just cut the usb end off and use a wire tap, I don't think i'll bother with the car kit as I don't really like the parking mode.
On my blackvue dashcam I can't really adjust the cut off voltage much, I think it's set far too low

        • This will be 5v though being USB, so you'll need to convert it from 12-5 unless this unit will accept 12 volts directly which I doubt.

(apologies if I'm over explaining haha)

Does "parking mode" use less power or something? I figured you could find constant 12v in the fusebox and just keep it on all the time.

  • +4

the annoying thing is the status light is on the left side of the camera, so i cant see it from the driver side.

    • +2

as these things are made for left driving cars

      • yup, its a chinese brand and their steering is in the left.

  • +2

I've got this exact device in all 3 cars. Decent for the price. Downloading footage is slow off the app.
Also, the voice control is erratic, it will activate when you don't need it to, and won't work when asked. Regardless, a bargain

  • I have one for a couple of years and it's good, would recommend. My only issue is very rarely it picks up my voice command to turn on wifi hotspot, even though I have voice commands turned off.

  • thanks OP got one

  • +1

Similar price on Amazon ( and don't have to worry about fake positive or restricted negative on eBay's ?)..

  • +3

I got one of this and one of the 70mai A500S with rear cam. I think the A500S is a much better dashcam. The 1S quality is so so, with no screen and playing recorded footage is a nightmare, very average dashcam, this is the quality you pay at this price. So, I would definitely pay bit more, $50-$60 extra to get the A500S with rear cam.

  • I got the 70mai 300m
When recording video with sound, the playback on mobile phone is choppy. Does still happen on this model?

  • I have a Chinese language only one of these, no idea what it is actually saying but i know the 'happy' and 'sad' phrases.

Great video, my only complaint is I have been totally unable to pair it with a subsequent android phone. Any time I need to review footage I have to crack out my old Xiaomi 4.

  • Mine arrived this morning. Hooked up to USB I found it gets quite warm, will be sure to keep an eye on it when it's in the sun. May even look for some form of quick release mount so I can easily take it off.

Will buy a micro SD tonight and give it a test.
