Cashrewards & Shopback Not Working on Google Chrome

I've noticed recently that all Cashrewards & Shopback purchases I've made have not tracked despite using paypal as my purchase method. Even 1 month ago I was able to make purchases at the same retailers with it tracking quite easily. Is anyone else having issues with using Cashrewards or Shopback Google Chrome?

I've noticed Google is trying to stop 3rd party cookies which may be the cause of the problem.

Cashrewards and chrome here, nothing changed but hasn't tracked since August. Edge is instant

  • CashRewards and chrome on mobile (android) and all purchases for this month tracked expect 1 which is under investigation now.
But past experience with CR is great for non tracked transactions.
Never used SB (due to common issues reported here, compared to CR)

Does your Chrome browser have an adblocker installed? I always us Edge with Cashrewards no extensions no adblocking.

I don't use adblocker on Chrome. I guess I'll start using Edge.

      • “I guess I’ll start using edge”… said no one ever

  • Also have a recent purchase that hasn't tracked in chrome.

What a mess previously Firefox would not track, so I would make sure I used Chrome all the time when doing Cashback. Then I did cashback with Firefox by accident once and Firefox suddenly started tracking recently, but I have still been using Chrome just to be safe. Now I guess I will have to switch to Firefox to make sure things track.

You need to clear all your cookies and start fresh. Also make sure you haven't installed or set up any tracker blockers.

    • "You need to clear all your cookies and start fresh."

I have a habit of doing the keyboard shortcut at the end of every browsing session. So every time I open the browser it is starting fresh.

"Also make sure you haven't installed or set up any tracker blockers."

      I don't use any extensions e.g. adblockers.

It seems like when things mess up it's due to a bad browser update. Sometimes it's fixed within a few weeks, sometimes it's left broken for many months like in the case previously with Firefox.

  • I noticed that two SCA transactions did not track through CR and Chrome

In Chrome settings. Privacy and security -> Privacy sandbox. Make sure that is off when you are trying to get a cashback to track.

    • This was probably it. Mine had "Privacy Sandbox Trial" switched on.

As I said broken updates. With the recent update they just decided to "Opt in" to this Trial of a new feature and turned it on without me knowing?

Thanks though I have switched it off for now so hopefully next purchase will track.

    • Thanks! I'll try this method. I really didn't want to switch to Edge.

    • Just wanted to confirm this works. I turned the Privacy Sandbox feature off and my next cashback tracked.
      Thank you Noppy. =)

      • No worries, I only figured it out from troubleshooting after missing a few myself.
