Is this really a deal ?

    • +2

One of those high yield investment like Tesla EV.

      • Joke aside but Tesla's are high yield investments at the moment, by the time you finally get it in 5 to 7 months time, it is worth much more than you paid….

        • Is that true for now or true for seven months ago?

    • +5

Not even slightly. It's a greatly inflated rrp to make the "under 2k" look good by comparison. Those components aren't even good enough for the sale price when you can get something like this for around the same amount.

Meanwhile for the "rrp" you can pick up something like the Cube Reaction Hybrid with an actual Bosch mid-drive motor, good brakes and a decent groupset, and all in a brand that not only provides a two year warranty but will actually honour it.

Cable actuated disc screams cheap, if they skimp on this, no way the RRP is close to real

    • Cable actuated disc screams cheap

…as does the el cheapo drive train.

      • +2

Now now, the drivetrain is actually quite amazing

        11/128*46T

128 tooth rear sprocket. This this is designed to tow large boat trailers and the like.

It's probably not wise to buy a bike from a company that just imports any old cheap junk to sell for a profit, buy from a store that actually specializes in bikes..

    • actually I think Panmi has quite good deals usually

      • You missed the point.

  • +1

You can get no name, hub drive e-bikes like this for well under 1k.

    • +2

Could you recommend some model or website?

  • +2

9.6Ah is not good enough. You'll have range anxiety

  • Any recommendations for back best bang for your buck electric bike?

    • +1

      back best bang buck bike

      Say it quickly 5 times.

      • 😂😂😂😂

    • I cant recommend anything but…. With e-bikes being so trendy and such a hot item at the moment the market is a minefield… The main thing to keep in mind is "if it looks too good to be true, blah blah", if you find an online store selling a decent bike at a cheap price it's almost certainly a scam… Dont buy the cheapest of cheap, you get what you pay for, there's a lot of crap out there…

It's probably worth checking out some forums and sites, learn about ebikes, work out if you want mid-drive or hub drive, learn about battery capacity and quality, cheap dodgy batteries burst into flames at times, even good quality batteries deserve respect, they contain a lot of energy…

I bought the Sunmono electric mountain bike last season and love it! Not top end but picked it up for $1450 delivered. Comes in a box and put it together yourself and happy days! Road legal with 48V 250W hub motor but decent parts and hydroloc disk brakes.

      https://www.sunmono.com.au/product/e-mono-27-5-electric-moun…

As I said, not top end and uses a hub motor rather than a mid motor but the price is right (when on a proper sale) and for a casual rider like myself, I love it! Easily does 80km on a single charge, even when relying heavily on the motor for a not so fit person like myself. Having the 48V setup is much better for long inclines too, has the juice to power up like a billy goat.

    • Go to a bike shop

You may balk at the idea of someone trying to sell you something rather than you finding some ebay special at half the cost, but any decent bike shop is going to care about getting you on a decent bike rather than peddle some piece of crap that barely works out of the box.

You don't have to buy from the bike shop, but at the very least they're going to be honest with you, moreso than a barely-understandable series of photoshopped images and a specsheet that basically says "Big awesome motor! 700c tyres! Disc Brakes!"
