  • Great deal. My lawnmower with a briggs & stratton engine refuses to die. It's about 10 years old and i have been pretty lax on maintenance. It just keeps powering on!

    • On your marks, get seed, grow!

      10 years?
20 & still going here. I did change the air filter, oil & spark plug once though

I bought a Scott Bonnar in 2008 when Bunnings was flogging them off for $196, other than having to replace the fuel tank and add a couple of blades it has had no maintenance.

It is still going well and starts pretty easy

Briggs and Stratton engines would be my second choice. first choice Honda engine. look for 160cc -196cc.

One of the best mowers ever made was the Victa Commercials at 196cc. they sell for a fortune now and sell instantly.

not sure about the new commercial ones.

  • I've had this model from approx. 2012… Never serviced, never replaced the blades and its still going strong. Fantastic buy…

  • I bought the victa 4stroke 2nd hand for only $90. I think it's about 10 years old but really strong

  • Had this since 2008 and it's been very reliable. I had to replace the fuel tank as the weld started leaking after several years (manufacturing defect that is now fixed) cost me $50. Serviced twice and has been sitting out in the weather for most of its' life.

cheap plastic parts on mowers are designed to fail….enjoy your warranty returns hoops & loops folks

Lots of negative reviews. Typical Bunnings junk. Bunnings and quality are incompatible.

the wheels on my victa are so bad….had to replace them under warranty & had to really push the point hard to get replacements that were basically the same thing just a little more plastic in the moulding of the rim/hub. its very low quality build these days unfortunately…only good thing about it is starts and goes but thats it. it wont last 10-15 years like the victas of old

Iv had the EGO battery powered mower and line trimmer for about 7 years now, still going strong with no maintenance. It takes me 2 charges to complete my lawn, but I dont have to deal with petrol and starts the first time round, every time.

    • What brand are they? And how big is your yard ,?

      • The brand is EGO - they are at the upper end of the battery powered lawn mowers, bought one myself only last week.

      • Old article with a decent insight about the brand and manufacturing:

        https://toolsinaction.com/ego-the-real-story/?amp=1

Including nature strip about 270m². If I let the grass (weeds) grow too tall it might need a extra charge

        • so with a 750m2 land. i would need about 6+ charges? hmmm yikes

  • I think this is Bunnings usual response to Aldi's special buys.

    There's a $399 lawn mower from Aldi 17-Sep

  • I have a Victa Bronco with the Australian made motor. Not sure how old it is but the thing is a tank and just won't die.

Love the convenience of my ego gear from masters (mower, whippersnipper, chainsaw, blower) but that's offset by the potential cost of battery failures.

Had x2 4ah batteries die after 2.5yrs. Luckily replaced by ego under warranty with a 5ah batteries but another 2.5yrs later they also are failing flashing yellow under minimal load. Bought a 7.5ah battery which in itself costs more than these cheaper mowers, just to run the tools. Out of warranty, electric gear is just way more expensive than petrol gear. Having said that i love the whippersnipper. No more vibration and rsi compared to petrol. The first gen ego mower i have, has about the power of my old Honda hru19d, but needed me to use 7.5ah,5ah,5ah to finish mowing the yard vs 1tank of fuel on the Honda about 1.25hrs mowing

  • As far as I've read this is Chinese made model so not comparable to older models. I have one, love the mulcher but it's weak against long grass and cuts out. Easy to start again but nonetheless doesn't handle it well. At this price still a no brainer and good if you keep your grass regularly cut.
