Your Current Electricity Provider (Victoria)

Winner: Switched to Alinta (Powercore Network), as it was the best via Compare and Connect ($150 GC to make switch via them)

I have read previous posts but can't see a final verdict on what people switched to from Re-Amped, after the price hikes.

Which provider you are using now and what are the rates ?

Not a lazy post as I have read many posts and comparing online, just want to make sure that I a getting the best rates.

Thanks,

    Lumo. My rates barely changed.

    • What's thr daily supply and /kwh rates ? Are the rates locked for a long term ?

      • 18.8980/KWH anytime
        0.8580 daily service charge

        Locked in for 12 months.

        • That's a great price. Which electricity distributor are you with?

          • @JimB: Mentioned above, Lumo.

            • +2

@Cheaplikethebird: Distributor is driffent. Lumo is the retailer, distributors maintain the lines and stuff like that

            • +1

@Cheaplikethebird: As Jake said, Distributor is different.

Lumo prices are different for each distribution area, i.e. AusNet, Jemena etc.

        • +1

          Damn, that's gold.

          • @ChipsChicky: Yeah it's pretty good. I'm in a 3brm, WFH the majority of the time and run the AC quite liberally and my monthly bill sits pretty consistently around $80.

        • Wow that's really good rates! Was with Lumo few years back but switched to Tango, time to compare again.

Edit: Tango is still cheaper for me despite the recent price hike.

        • +1

I switched from Tango to Lumo just before EOFY. Lumo put their rates up the next day. There was all this doom and gloom about prices going up hugely and I managed to lock in a slightly lower rate for 12 months + get $250 from the govt, $50 sign up bonus and $50 referral bonus. The referrer was some random on Facebook :-) Your daily rate is awesome. I'm paying
          18.4250 anytime
15.2350 controlled load (hot water service only)
          106.70 c/day
          -6.7 solar

Tango. My rates havent changed for a couple of years
    20.680 c/kWh
    66.000 c/day
    Very happy

    • You must live near me (Jemena). I pay the exact same price with Tango.

      • United energy. In carnegie

    • Tango was just a bit expensive thn Re-Amped at that time when i switched but seems great rates now.

    • Jemena or Powercore ?

      • Neither. I'm in the United distribution area

    • +1

I was happy with my daily charge of 89c, 66 is excellent.

    • I'm with Tango but my rates changed in August.
I guess it's an ausnet price.
I'm up 25% compared to same period last year.

      • I think i got lucky. Because rates have gone up for my area but bills are still the lower rates. Dont know if its because ive been a customer for around 3 years or not

        • I think its likely you area distributor. Like I said my area is AusNet and my rates went up in August (I've been with Tango for about 2 years).

          Old rates:
          Supply: 77.000 c/Day
          First 11: 23.540 c/kWh
          Next: 26.400 c/kWh

          New rates:
          Supply: 104.500 c/Day
          First 11: 28.050 c/kWh
          Next: 29.480 c/kWh

I checked a month ago, its still about the best I could find on the energy compare site.

          • @reactor-au: And the price difference between distributors can be significant- see above. Surely the costs can't be that much different between distributors?

            • @Craze: I don't know but I'm stuck in an AusNet area and all the best rates are more or less the same (Tango/Globird/etc).
Big question is why the rates are so different between distributors if they all buy from the same generators?

  • So what is your summary of the results of your reading on where people have moved to?

    • Discussions are open at the end mostly and OPs haven't mentioned what they did. I will update once i finalize and switch.

  • +1

Curious to hear what OP's decision is.

  • 0.66000 daily charge
    0.27940 KWh

    Any good? GloBird

My bill for the last month was $59 for electricity.

    • how many units were used ? my bill for last month is $200+.

      • Sorry I missed the 1.
        $159

      • I got $182 for 1125.78 kWh with previous Globird rates, this month $196 for 810.44 kWh with Vic default rates:(

    • Hi, Ineed2pee,
I am with Globird too for electricity and also around that figure of $60.00 per month. Very happy and satisfied with that charge for electricity. But not for gas. I am with them too for gas which has been around $230.00 p.m. ( winter season.) for 2 persons average using hours are 5 hours per day. What is yours for gas? Thanks for sharing.

  • I moved from GloBird to Lumo in July and saved money. I’m in VIC.

Does anyone know what the Lumo billing frequency is? I haven’t received a bill yet.

    • Most electricity bills are every 3 months and afaik gas is every 2 months

      • Most electricity bills are every 3 months

I think it is monthly if your property is equipped with a smart meter, which is the case for almost all of VIC.

    • +1

Lumo is 3 months, when I was with reampede it was monthly

      • Makes sense.

My billing cycle was monthly with GloBird.
Lumo haven't billed me yet, and I moved across in July. So yeah looks like 3 months.

  • Lumo price locked, Ausnet

    Anytime Step 1(first11.178 KWH/day) 22.4180 c/KWH
    Anytime Step 2 (balance) 24.3650 c/KWH
Service to Property Charge $0.9350 per Day

  • Momentum. Been pretty good with afterhours support, but their prices are really no better than a lot of others.

  • I make my own power. The surplus is sold to Origin for a tidy profit.

  • VIC - Powercor distributor

    $0.20/Kwh usage
    $0.98 daily supply
    $0.067 feed in

Haven't been able to find any retailer offering it cheaper in the Powercor area.

Purely electric household. Winter bills are usually about $80ish, summer bills in credit. Overall energy expense per year is about $300 max (used to always be in credit up until two years ago, but FIT is decreasing and soon will be no more)

    • Thanks, who is the Retailer ?

      • +1

        Alinta

        • I am preparing my excel sheet, Alinta is coming next in that,

          • +1

@ChipsChicky: please include a pivot table.

            • @jv: Its a simple sheet with few rows and 2 columns, pivot table isn't required, though i love pivot tables, when required.
Maximum i would do is to apply =Min() to pick the cheapest 😉

  • Anyone on ausnet with solar PFIT of .66cents?

  • Powershop. They raised prices the next month. Much regret.

  • I left Globird after their rate hike in August - I guess they were trying to shed customers so they didn't have to buy power on the spot market.

I'm in the Citipower distributor area, Vic energy compare said Sumo were my cheapest.

21.89c & $1.05 per day supply charge. 19c controlled load (which I don't use most of the year due to solar hot water) & 10.2c feed in tariff.

Significant increase after globird, who were 18.14c (1st 20kwh) & $0.66 per day supply charge, 12c controlled load & 5.2c feed in tariff.

  • Anyone can recommend good and cheap gas provider in Victoria . I am happy with my electricity provider who charges me $60.00 p.m. , but not the gas provider. I find my winter gas bills of around $250.00 p.m. for 5 hours daily is quite beyond my budget. Thanks for any good recommendation.

    • Who is your electricity provider, charging $60pm ?

  • Chipschicky,
    Globird. Gas as well.

    • How many kWh you are using ?
