What ever you do, don't look up the name of HP Lovecraft's cat

Python is already back up to $23.70, HTML is back to $22.43.
Do people really pay this much for ebooks?

All I do is downloading when free and never ever read them

  • Is there any point reading an American book on sharemarket investing?

    • I haven’t looked into that book beyond the title but it sounds like it basically just explains the different asset classes. If that’s the case, pretty much everything will apply equally to Australia. In any case, I personally wouldn’t just invest in Australian shares/bonds.

I’d recommend checking out passiveinvestingaustralia.com. In my view the long and short of stockmarket investing is it’s not worth my time to pick stocks, the supposed experts can’t beat the market so I probably won’t either. Easier and better that I just invest in an ETF that tracks the whole world market like DHHF or VDHG (VDHG gives you some exposure to bonds which are generally less volatile than stocks but offer lower returns).

      • How do you recommend, in true ozbargain style, to invest in EFTs?

        • I’m based in the UK now so haven’t looked into Aussie stockbroking apps/website in a while but any of the big ones will be fine (eg. SelfWealth, Stake, Superhero, CMC). You obviously want to keep trading fees low but if you’re just putting a few thousand into a single ETF every few months a difference of $5-10 each time isn’t going to materially alter your end position. Much better to get started than sit on the sideline agonising over which broker is best (out of a good bunch).
