Is this part of heymix family of exploding chargers?

        • Maybe, it depends

        • +5

Yes no, maybe. I don't know. Can you repeat the question?

          • @CodeXD: Ooh, passive aggressive answer… not happy Jan!

        • +1

It's a simple question, if you were a hotdog and were starving would you eat yourself? I know I would.

      • But the product could be from the same factory, not that you company came up with the schematic .

    • +8

The first rule of exploding chargers is never to talk about exploding chargers.

    • No

    • +3

The ones with exploding reviews come from Shenzhen GOOD-SHE Technology Co., Ltd. We don't sell those

    • +1

Would love to know what issues you have read/heard about Heymix chargers?

      I just bought their 120W charger with a $50 down to $79.
      https://amzn.asia/d/fk1pRnj

      • How did you get $50 off that one? Mine shows $30 off

        • Pure chance when I checked a couple days ago it had $50 coupon.

          It’s a top charger!

        • Zyron has something similar currently on sale - posted here

      • @JsonDough ? Would love to know what issues you have read/heard about Heymix chargers?

    • Just saw this on reddit, exploding powerpod

      • Zyron Powerpod =/= Powerpod

        they are different manufacturers

  • Oo the old 100W was convenient for having a USB-A as well as 3 USB C's…

    • The 120W one yes. I have two.

I am tempted Togo for this but I would like one USBA port as well as the three USBc ports to make it perfect.

This is a PD3.1 spec which you need to get the 140W USBc port so you can connect higher end laptops like a M1 MacBook Pro to in order to get the fast charge.

      • I also have the 120W one and it has been great so far. Only issue is it blocks the other plug in a double AC powerpoint.

This one has 1.5m Desktop Extension Power Cord so it will fit, but I also need USBA for my micro devices lol.

    • Beware that the 120W with USB-A isn’t QC 3.0+😶

  • +1

Wow, bold specs. Especially for the size….

Even comes with a 3.1 cable, 240W really?

    • Its a 1m 240W USB2.0 cable.

      • +1

Ah thanks mate, OP needs to correct the post, big difference…

        • +1

          The description says:

          1x 240W USB C to USB C Cable 1m

          It doesn't mention 3.1 cable.

          • @CodeXD: 240W is only possible with PD3.1.

So the cable is neither PD3.1 nor can be240W.

            • @Larsson: I'll let rep reply to this since I copied it from the product description.

              • @CodeXD: I see the confusion now, I said 3.1, what I meant was PD3.1. I must have misread the rep's comment about the cable being PD3.1 but USB2. that's totally normal.

            • @Larsson: Let me clarify. Its a PD3.1 cable but not USB 3.1

            • @Larsson: Comment doesn't make sense, a cable can be PD3.1 and not Usb 3

              • +3

                @Heldnight: Power delivery is 240W PD3.1 and data sync is USB2.0 480mbps

                • @ibelievesyd: @Heldnight Yeap I must have misread your comment @ibelievesyd, I was always talking about PD3.1, which the cable is as you said. didn't notice it was USB2.0, which yeah can happen and is fine/expected of a charging only cable.

        • It must be a typo and you lot are confusing things.
You need PD3.1 spec to get to 140W charging capability. This is one of the new GaN chargers that has the chipset that can do that.
The usbc cable is PD3.1 that if connected to port 3 and no other ports are being used will deliver the full 140W power charge to a laptop.

The 240w surely refers to the AU power cable that goes from the Power point in the wall to the charger.

          • +1

@entropysbane: 240w means the cable is electronically marked to support the Extended Power Range (EPR) mode of the PD 3.1 spec, supporting higher voltages up to 48V. These cables incorporate "mechanical improvements", as per wikipedia. Max current 5A times 48V equals 240W, which is why they're advertised as such.

    • -2

if you plug one end straight into a powerpoint while holding the other end, it'll give you even more than 240w :)

      • +1

You'll only get the 240W if you can negotiate with it

  • Any preorder on amazon?

    • +1

Unfortunately not. The charger is still undergoing SAA certification. We'll post a deal though when launched on Amazon AU but price will be a bit higher than this :)

      • Pre-ordered, see how we go next month onwards.

        • +1

          Cheers

      • What happens if certification fails or is delayed for months?
Do you commit to full refund on request?

        • Yes of course, you can request full refund.

  • -1

OOI, Are there any devices out there that can take advantage of a 240W cable?

    • +1

MacBooks pro’s, tho not sure usb-c accept it or is it just MagSafe.

Probably few more premium laptops. And surely very soon we’ll start to see more. Especially gaming stuff with latest gen intel and nvidia gpu’s, all super power hungry.

      • +3

I tried but I reckon usb c port in macbook pro 2021 is 100w

  • +2

Any idea when we will start seeing 240W USB-C chargers?

Getting tired of lugging around the brick that came with my Razer Blade!

    • +6

You'll need a new device that can support the new standard

    • +1

      read my mind.

    • +1

Pretty sure your device also need to be compatible with PD3.1. Is your Razor Blade compatible, did you check?

      • +1

You know what I hadn't even thought about the device specs, thank you!

Blade is PD3.0 so looks like I'll be carrying the brick around for the rest of its natural life.

    • +2
      • +1

        Thanks for the link Heldnight!

I think I'll wait until the product launches but this certainly looks like the product I'll be using.

  • +4

    No USB A no love

    • +2

Agreed. It wouldn't have hurt to have 1x USB-A port for legacy devices.

  • Lenovo Legions have been updated to support 135W, so this should be a great travel companion for those as long as you don't plan on giving it too much of a workout.

    • +2

Sadly though the new Legions is not PD3.1 but proprietary, so this wouldn't charge at 135w

      • +3

I am glad you posted this, that was a close one. Sorry about the bad info.

      • Where did you find that info? I've been trying to find what I can use to charge it even if by thunderbolt port.

        • Not sure, but this suggests it is PD3.1?
          https://gadgets360.com/laptops/news/lenovo-legion-135w-usb-p…

Note that there is absolutely no info on this thing past Jan this year.

          • @carlscott1982: Cheers, interesting. Seems so much lower than the standard PSU that makes me doubt its enough to power the laptop during gaming sessions.
We looking at their Thinkpad thunderbolt docking station but sales person told me it won't be compatible with the Legion :(

        • Jarrod's Tech on YouTube just did a review on it, it uses an out of spec 20v 6.75A delivery. Very similar to what Dell uses for the XPS range.

      • Which laptops do support P.D. 3.1 at the moment, just the M1 MBP? I was assuming dell XPS and the Legions, but apparently not. Just looked in reddit and it seems there is a Chinese market only one.

        • As far as I know it's only the new Mac Books

  • +1

I still use some old devices with micro USB, so lack of USB-A is no go for me

    • +1

You could go for Powerpod 100
We did try a slightly bigger 4 port with USB-A but it couldn't pass SAA with changeable plugs (could only pass fixed AU) so we had to go for 3 port all C

      • Was looking at those, but futureproofing….

    • Can't you just use a USB-C to micro USB cable?

  • @ibelievesyd Is there a grounded plug available for this/can it be grounded? Both my Mac and my Razer Blade are metal bodies and the tingling sensation is unworkable for me. I can only use the official Apple charger with the grounded 2m extension lead to date.

    • Its the same 2 pin changeable adapter compatible with all our Powerpod chargers. Our only 3 prong charger is 108W Powerpod-Pro which can provide 90W via single USB-C port

    • Let me know if you ever find something that’s grounded! I also can’t stand the tingling on my MacBook and haven’t had much luck searching myself.

  • +12

    This looks like the OEM:
    https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/GaN-Technology-140-Wa…

    New listing too.

  • Do we finally have an adapter that can charge the Dell XPS 15 series at full power? Because I know Dell cleverly designed their 130-Watt AC Adapter (above the official USB PD spec) to meet the power needs of XPS. It is rated at 20V 6.5A though. Not sure if this Zyron can negotiate with XPS to deliver 130 watts over USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Thunderbolt 3) port?

    • +1

Laptop usb-c ports also will have to support PD3.1. Not only the charger.

    • It can't. That's Dell proprietary

  • +7

I wouldn't touch any Zyron products. Ordered 2 of their Deskpods from previous pre-order. One has stopped working and tech support won't respond. Used their online submission several times and apart from their auto reply, they've been silent.

    • +1

      Ah theres my answer. Pass

    • Thank you for sharing. Pass for me too

    • +1

Better to order through Amazon. Send it back and it is Amazon's problem.

      • +3

Send it back and it is Amazon's problem.

Not if it isn't sold by Amazon.

    • share you order number please in pm

      • +17

I'm very tempted to give you the order number and hopefully you'd escalate the issue so I could get a replacement sent out, but then there's the principle of the matter. Your company ought to respond to tech support emails and warranty claims. I can forego the ~$80 loss for cost of the Deskpod if it means poor business practices are highlighted.
If I get a replacement item sent out without special treatment, then I'll update my opinion and my responses. I would like to think you treat customers properly, and not just because you want to quiet discontent to sell newer products.

        • +12

Just as I posted this, I get a response to my long awaited warranty claim saying that my replacement is being posted out. All without supplying my order number via pm. Coincidence?

          • @ss3imkta: That's what I always do. If someone comments or pm me for any issues I help to resolve asap. Not only when a deal is posted but other days as well.

          • @ss3imkta: How long ago was your pre order and when did you make your online submission?

Curious to see if they dug back, way back to offer you support now you've outed them.

I hope your poor experience loses them lots of business from this post so they learn an expensive lesson.

I'd also be concerned that they have so many submissions that they can't keep up with them, which means their products are junk.

If their products were well made, they'd have no need for customers to context them, therefore the small amount of complaints would get resolved within a day, right?

            • +2

@NoApostrophePlurals: First email, 10 days ago; no response. Second one was from online submission 8 days ago; no response after asking for video. Third email using online submission 3 days ago; no action until today.

On the bright side, at least their chargers don't kill my iDevices. My Heymix 2-port chargers (allegedly) slow-killed the usb port of 3 ipads and 1 iphone. They either would not charge any more or would not data-transfer any more. Only realised after figuring out the common culprit. Luckily all warrantied by Apple. I haven't bothered with warranty-ing the Heymix. It was a 4-pack for ~$40.

Either I'm not having good luck with these new GaN chargers, or they're too new-tech and unreliable.

        • +2

I agree to your point. We are still a small team and suffer a bit during new launch and promotions where the emails flood in. We did introduce a chat function to help respond faster. We are also working on a Help Desk ticketing system to resolve faster. It will be live in 7 days max

    • +1

Did you pay with paypal? If u did, just open a dispute on the transaction, they will respond.

  • +3

Hey OP, might be time to update your FAQ page as well - https://zyrontech.com.au/pages/faq … I mean I too love being a "classy and fabulous" girl… but it doesn't seem relevant haha

    • That FAQ page is the highlight of my day so far.

      • +3

What did it say? I just got back from lunch and page is gone haha

        • +1

Absolutely need to know, can't leave us hanging :D

          • @Larsson: It seemed like a placeholder about us page for a fashion e-commerce site. The website appears to have been updated in the past week and the faq was overlooked.

    • OMG! Thank you for that! I will ask the team to fix it :D
