can i buy iphone 14 pro max in store at jb and have no problems with the cards?

    • I remembered some stores have the number of card limits per transaction.

    • +4

      Yes.

Make sure to tell staff you would like to do split payments across multiple cards. If you instead say you want to use multiple gift cards, staff will think you're wanting to use JB Hi-Fi gift cards (and Ultimate gift cards are quite different to JB Hi-Fi gift cards).

    • Yes, you can buy without any problem. If you are not living in VIC or TAS, following deal will help to keep 10% with you rather than in terms of rewards points. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/724018. TCN him/her cards are also accepted at JB HIFI.

      • Closer to 7.3% on the deal you mentioned. But better off buying the visa card at Coles and then going to woolies and buying the Ultimate Giftcard at woolies. Then you'll get 7.3% saving plus an extra 10% back to you in everyday rewards points

        • Is this possible?? You’re saying buy the Visa card then use the Visa to buy the TCN cards from Woolies?

          • @Pelicannn: Yep! Should work fine. It worked for me with the previous Mastercard promotion! @WookieMonster can you confirm?

          • +1

@Pelicannn: Officially speaking, you're not allowed to purchase any gift cards at Woolworths using prepaid gift cards. (A lot of staff at different stores have told me this.)

In reality, the Woolworths checkout system should let you do this, although it has been a few months since i last purchased a gift card at Woolworths using a Vanilla Visa gift card. Just remember to select Card at the payment screen (not Gift Card) and if you are asked for a PIN, press the Green button on the EFTPOS terminal without entering any numbers.

            • +1

              @WookieMonster: Excellent. Cheers

            • @WookieMonster: Can I use Woolworths giftcard to buy TCN giftcard?

              • +2

                @trieup: AFAIK, no.

                • If you select Gift Card as a payment method at a self-service checkout and then you scan, swipe or enter a gift card, you'll have an Item Not Allowed error pop up on the EFTPOS terminal.

                • If you go to a standard checkout and ask to pay using a Gift Card, you'll either be told "no" by the checkout operator, or the checkout operator will let you try and you'll get the same error message as the one you get at self-service checkouts.

                • If you try to use Everyday Pay as a payment method for purchasing gift cards at Woolworths, you will get an Item Not Allowed error and you should be sent back to the regular payment screen. This is because you cannot use Everyday Pay as a payment method when purchasing gift cards under any circumstances, even if you have no Woolworths or WISH gift cards added to your Everyday Pay wallet.

    • Just buy online and use the GC there..

My friend bought it at Jb Chadstone and they were fine with him paying using 17GCs

      • Didn't @WookieMonster use like 80 cards one time

        • +3

          That was not me!

The highest number of TCN/Ultimate gift cards I have redeemed in one transaction instore at JB Hi-Fi is 2.

          • +2

@WookieMonster: I must have remembered your profile pic from your reply

            • +1

@HairyChickens: To be honest, whenever someone on OzBargain wonders how many TCN/Ultimate gift cards you can redeem in-store at JB Hi-Fi, I am usually the person who posts a link to the person who redeemed 81 in one go…

              • @WookieMonster: Has there ever been a JB store that said no?

                • @HairyChickens: Back in the first ever 15% off TCN gift card deal at Coles in 2020, JB Hi-Fi implemented a $500 redemption limit for TCN gift cards and many JB Hi-Fi staff were enforcing this limit. I’m sure you can find comments in that deal of people being denied by staff.

However, this limit was lifted a couple of days later, and I guess the flood gates opened at that stage…

                • @HairyChickens: I used 19 at JB back in December 2019 to buy my iPhone 11 Pro, they didn't say no but the SA wasn't impressed entering them in LOL

      • +1

Cannot upload the 2m receipt. I have used 54 cards (100 and 50 denomination) succesfully to buy Samsung Fridge @ JB @ Myaree in WA. So no problem using multiple cards. Just in preparation if you separate all cards from the wrapper and have all PIN's ready that would be appreciated by the staff otherwise its more time consuming.

Looking for 20x Everyday Rewards on Apple Gift Cards. Any idea?

    • +8

      Simple pal.

Buy JB gift cards, then go JB and buy apple gift card at JB.

      20 points per dollar.

Tried and tested on last deal as wanted and iPhone too!

      • +1

Jbhifi recently started to restrict one Apple gift card per day using other gift card, some store won’t even let me use TCN to buy Apple gift cards even I told them it worked just fine with any other store.

        • Sounds like they're trying to quietly restrict the customers they lose to Apple.

        • +2

Think it’s despicable when you get treated like a criminal for using a gift card!

If companies want to roll out stupid policies then shouldn’t sell gift cards, it’s the simple.

Should feel special when using a gift card as after all it was a gift.

        • Oh no. I'm planning to convert the TCN and a few JB gift card to Apple one as well , just to buy the new iphone.

May i know how many times you tried in different stores?

          • @Focus8: Depends on store and stuff really…2 out of 3 stores around me had no problem with selling 1x gift card a day.

            • @pgsheng: no problem of selling 1x gift card?? Should it be no problem of selling multiple Apple gift card LOL?

Anyway, I will give it a go at local store!
              Thanks!

  • Hi ozbargainers
Does anyone used their employee card to buy gc. Dont know how it will interpret for points.

  • What can I redeem my reward points for? I don't really shop at Woolworths.

    • +2

Convert to Qantas Frequent Flyer points

    • +3

      You have two options:

      1. Convert to Qantas points - already mentioned by @kerfuffle
      2. Convert to Everyday Rewards Dollars (either through Money Off Shopping or Bank For Christmas)

      Qantas Points

If you choose to convert to Qantas points, you will have 2,000 Everyday Rewards points converted into 1,000 Qantas points.

As soon as your account hits 2,000 Everyday Rewards points (or a multiple of 2,000), the Everyday Rewards points will be deducted from your Everyday Rewards account and the Qantas points will appear on your Qantas point within 1-2 days.

You cannot reverse this (i.e. you cannot have the Qantas points converted back into Everyday Rewards points), so if you accidentally switch your redemption option to Qantas points and have Everyday Rewards Dollars on your account when you make this switch, all the Everyday Rewards Dollars on your account will be converted into Qantas points.

      Everyday Rewards Dollars

If you choose to convert to Everyday Rewards Dollars, you will have 2,000 Everyday Rewards points converted into $10 in Everyday Rewards Dollars.

Everyday Rewards Dollars can be redeemed at:

      • Woolworths and Woolworths Metro (in-store and online, including Everyday Market, but excluding Ampol Woolworths Metro and Ampol Woolworths MetroGo)
      • BIG W (in-store and online)
      • BWS (in-store and online)
      • EG Australia / Caltex Woolworths (in-store, excluding all Tasmanian locations)

Everyday Rewards Dollars can be redeemed goods and services sold at each of the redemption businesses above, excluding:

      • All smoking products
      • Gift cards
      • Mobile recharge
      • Woolworths Mobile
      • Travel cards
      • Tickets
      • Cash outs
      • Delivery charges
      • Donations
      • Lottery products
      • Carpet Care
      • Pre-Order Kiosks
      • BIG W Photos
      • BIG W eBay
      • Lay-by-fees
      • Purchases using an AmpolCard, a Country Age Pension Fuel Card or on a charge account.

Everyday Rewards Dollars can be redeemed in multiples of $10 at any time you choose, as long as your transaction contains eligible items. For example, if you are spending $27 on groceries at Woolworths, you can redeem $0, $10 or $20 in Everyday Rewards Dollars.

      • Wish I read this before crashing three self checkouts, tried to use $200 reward dollars for gift card and surprise, didn’t work

        • +3

If you’re purchasing only non-eligible items at a self checkout, you will never see an option to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars at the payment screen.

If you’re purchasing eligible and non-eligible items at a self checkout, you will see an option to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars, but you can only redeem enough Everyday Rewards Dollars to cover part or the full cost of the eligible items.

  • +1

Bonus points can take up to 14 business days to be loaded onto your Everyday Rewards Card from the date of purchase.

Why is this clause now prevalent in every Woolies gift card bonus points offer? What happened to being able to give points immediately?

    • It’s actually been buried in the fine print of Woolworths gift card bonus points deals for at least a couple of years now.

    • Something for people to keep in mind is the term "business days". Mon-Fri is 5 business days, so 14 of them is almost 3 calendar weeks. Public holidays will also add to the time.

  • Can one gift card be used across many shops? Or do you redeem the gift card for a gift card for a specific shop?

    • +1

      Both.

If you choose to leave the balance on the Ultimate gift card, you can redeem it at as many of the participating retailers as you want until the balance is $0 (or expires).

You can also exchange part of (or the full) balance of an Ultimate gift card for a digital gift card for a specific participating retailer. However, the selection of participating retailers who have their digital gift cards available through Ultimate is quite limited when compared with the TCN gift card scheme…

  • Is variable TCN home($20-500) included?

    • +1

I’m assuming you meant variable Ultimate Home?

It should be included, as there is nothing in the terms and conditions to say it is excluded. The variable denomination has always been included in bonus points deals for Ultimate gift cards at Woolworths, but was excluded from the 10% off deal earlier this year at Woolworths.

      • +1

        Thank you for detailed information.

      • +1

Having the Variable card as an option will make things a lot easier for those planning to use up and hoarded Coles Mactercards to mass purchase $2000+ ($500 per card) worth of Ultimate Home to buy the new iPhone/iDevices at JB. Will also make life easier when redeeming the cards at a JB counter.

  • good

  • +1

Can Ultimate Home be used at The Good Guys Commercial?

    • +2

It should, as long as your purchase is covered with 1x Ultimate Home gift card.

For physical Ultimate gift cards, remember to use the generic expiry date at checkout (12/29).

  • Surprised it hasn't been posted yet, but TCN gift cards will be 10% off at Coles starting Wednesday, so a little bit better than this as it's not 10% back in points.

    • +2

It was posted a few days ago

      • Ahh right, missed the latter part of the title when searching.

      • Can the vanilla gift cards be used to pay for these gift cards at woolies?

  • +2

Sorry for ignorance , Are $500 dollars cards included? The terms on woolies catalogue say selected denominations

    • +2

      Wanted to know the same.
When looking at the catalogue, it says "on selected denominations of gift cards listed", and the cards shows 50-500, so I assume anything between 50-500 are eligible for the bonus points.
      Need some confirmation please.

  • Confirming none of the above could be redeemed on eBay?

  • I'm still waiting for my 20x points from last weeks offer. Have people got them yet?

    • Woolies in my experience is usually loaded up at the registers when you pay.

  • Any idea if this will stack with EDR 2x point boosters on top?

  • Another question, will Woolworths Metro participate in this promotion?

    • As per T&Cs

in Woolworths Supermarkets and Woolworths Metro & scan your Everyday Rewards Card to collect 20x points, while stock last. Excludes Woolworths Online, Ampol Woolworths MetroGo and Metro60.

Woolworths Metro should be participating as long as they aren't MetroGo or Metro60.

  • Can I use the wish gift card to pay for these and still got boosted points?

    • +2

You can't use Wish Gift Card to purchase gift cards.

      • Thanks mate

  • Does anyone know if the Ultimate Kids/Teen card can be used at JBhifi online?
There is an article on JBhifi site says cannot be used, but I remember seeing someone on Ozbargain saying there is no limit to use the card on JBhifi website.
Has anyone used the Ultimate Kids/Teen cards online at JBhifi?

    • +1

The reason this FAQ exists on the JB Hi-Fi website is that it was written for the older version of the Ultimate Teens and Ultimate Kids gift cards that only operated on the EFTPOS network. You cannot redeem EFTPOS cards online, and there is no way to exchange them for a digital Mastercard/Visa gift card or a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card.

The Ultimate gift cards pictured in this deal operate on the Visa network, which means you can redeem them online at participating retailers who choose to accept them online (and this includes JB Hi-Fi).

      • Thank you Sir.
BTW do you know how long does it take for the Ultimate Kids card to be activated? I bought them before 9 and when trying to check balance it still says Activation Failed…

  • I just tried to purchase JBhifi giftcard from JBhifi.com.au, the card was declined, but the balance of the card is $0 now, it looks like the money has gone even the card was declined. There is no contact number to call Ultimate cards, there is only the automated service, has anyone experienced the same before? Will the money come back to the card? JBhifi said there is no any transaction from their end…

  • I just purchased around $1000 of the Teens card, how do I transfer it to Jbhifi gift cards? I tried on the website but it wasn’t one of the options? Anyone know how to redeem Teens cards online for JBHiFi?

  • +3

    Hi team.

Real easy, this morning walked into local Woolsworths. Got 4 giftcards from the "home" range, and put on $500x3 $400 x1. No manager approval needed at cash register, and points came up on the system after payment. "You collected 38,000 points"

Walked over to JB hi fi, put in pre order at the counter for Iphone, swiped each of the 4 cards one after another for processing.

There is a FAQ in regards to using these gift cards online. Its one per transaction or something, which is a pain. Also you can purchase JB hi fi gift cards (not in this promo) which caps out at $100 dollars per card that you can use online. Just buy the higher denominations and walk into store. The staff will sort you out.

Got home, logged into my qantas portal, and the points already came across.

    Effortless.

    • This was my plan but it hadn't occurred to me to do it earlier than Friday. I might pop over to the shops after work tomorrow and try my luck and hope both cards and iPhone I want are in stock.

    • I'm going overseas in late Jan 2023 so will need to do the purchase part in late November 2022 at the earliest as I'm claiming Duty.

How did you get the Qantas points though?

  • I bought four Teens cards and only one was successful in purchasing a jbhifi gift card on the jbhifi website. The others were all declined. Not sure why.

    • sorry to ask but how do i redeem the cards online? where do i input the card numbers?

      • Use it like a debit/credit card and fill in the expiry date as 12/2029.

        • thank-you. it worked for the first card then declined for the other. didn’t work when put through apple pay either so interesting :/, at least no money was taken

          • @Wolfhound: Yes, after being rejected over thirty times, I managed to get a second one. It seemed like a big job to redeem all the gift cards.

            • @CarsonSONG: Maybe just pop into a physical store would be easier? This is what I'm thinking of doing.

    • +1

It sounds like JB Hi-Fi’s anti-fraud system kicked in.

If you are trying to purchase multiple gift cards in a short period of time using different prepaid gift cards, JB Hi-Fi’s payment processor is very likely to decline the transaction, since it looks a lot like fraudulent activity (especially since you are using a payment method that is not tied to a verified cardholder). I mean, you probably don’t want JB Hi-Fi to allow a customer to use the website to purchase multiple gift cards using different stolen prepaid/debit/credit cards, which would be one explanation for JB Hi-Fi rigging their payment process to behave like this in the first place.

If you try again tomorrow, you should be able to purchase at least one more JB Hi-Fi gift card through the JB Hi-Fi website using one of your Ultimate gift cards.

Alternatively, if you add an Ultimate gift card to Apple Pay and then visit the JB Hi-Fi website via an Apple device, you should be able to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card today using that Ultimate gift card saved on Apple Pay.

  • Does anyone feel it is odd that
Everydays rewards everyday is 0 points on all Giftcards instore

But the offer is 20x points.

    I remember 20x 0 being 0 ?

    • +1

The standard points earn rate is 0x per $1 spent.

The bonus points earn rate is 20x per $1 spent.

The terms of the offer states:

Standard points will not be earned on the amount spent on gift cards, but the relevant number of bonus points which you qualify for under this offer.

You are earning bonus points on top of the standard points earn rate, which is addition rather than multiplication. In other words, you’ll earn 0x standard points + 20x bonus points per $1 spent, which results in 20x points earned per $1 spent.

      • "Offer available from 14/9/22 to 20/9/22 on selected denominations of gift cards listed, excluding Lorna Jane $50 Gift Card, in Woolworths Supermarkets and Woolworths Metro & scan your Everyday Rewards Card to collect 20x points, while stock last. "

My eyes aren't what they used to be but 20x points doesn't imply any suggestion that 20x or the $1 value in the terms above or in the catalogue, can you see it in there?

        • +1

I’m not sure what your point is. What do you think 20x means?

Everyday Rewards allocates standard points on a per dollar basis. This is defined in clause 8 of the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions:

You will collect a minimum of 1 Everyday Rewards point for every dollar you spend at any Earn Businesses… excluding any money spent on the No Earn Purchases…

The purchase of a gift card are listed under No Earn Purchases (clause 7), which explains the statement in the terms of this gift card deal above:

Standard points will not be earned on the amount spent on gift cards, but the relevant number of bonus points which you qualify for under this offer.

However, clause 7 of the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions also states:

This paragraph … applies to a purchase except to the extent that we advertise differently in the terms and conditions of a specific promotion.

Woolworths is very clearly advertising a bonus points promotion, which is the one exclusion for clause 7, which means you can earn bonus points from this gift card deal without violating clause 7 of the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions.

Considering this promotion is advertising 20x Everyday Rewards points and Everyday Rewards allocates points on a per dollar basis (as per clause 8 of the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions), the only conclusion one can reasonably construe from this 20x promotion is that you will earn 20x Everyday Rewards on every $1 you spend on the gift cards advertised in this deal. If you do not believe me, this person spent $1,900 on gift cards through this deal and received 38,000 Everyday Rewards points.

          • @WookieMonster: well like you stated

Standard points will not be earned on the amount spent on gift cards, but the relevant number of bonus points which you qualify for under this offer.

            20x "will not be earned" = 0

any other reputable reward program bonus schemes seem to declare a clear return in points, $ or % per dollar, substitution with an x is not really a well defined term.

Since it obscures or potentially creates a confusion if anyone was to not know that tomorrow that the same card "will not be earned" and not 1 twentieth of today as implied.

  • Looks like Rebel store has been removed from the list of accepted retailers, it no longer shows on the ultimate gift cards website.

    • Has it?

I just checked both the Ultimate Kids and Ultimate Teens gift card pages linked in the table in OP's description and it still shows the rebel logo.

      • +1

        Weird
It wasn’t there previously but it’s back now

  • Dang.. didnt realise I have my Rewards points being converted to Qantas FF points rather than Woolworths Cash off

    • bummer i love my qantas points,

      well sometimes

  • New to this Rewards stuff. Can someone confirm -

    1. Buy 4 x 500 Home Gift Cards
    2. Go to JB Hi Fi and buy 4 x 500 Apple gift cards using the Home Gift Cards
    3. Buy whatever at Apple
    4. Collect 20 000 FFP

    Sound right?

      1. Sounds right, but is dependent on the variable denomination ($50-$500) Ultimate Home or ($25-$500) Ultimate Kids or Teens gift cards being in stock at Woolworths.
      2. JB Hi-Fi does not sell the variable denomination ($20-$500) Apple gift card. The maximum denomination they sell is $200. JB Hi-Fi sells the $100 too, so you will probably be stuck with purchasing 2x $200 and 1x $100 Apple gift cards on each trip to JB Hi-Fi. You could also try your luck splitting a $1,000 Apple gift card purchase across 2x Ultimate gift cards, but I’m not sure whether staff would let you do that…
      3. Yep.
      4. Yep. You’ll earn 40,000 Everyday Rewards points, which would be converted to 20,000 Qantas points.
      • I did manage to split a $1,500 Apple gift card purchase over 22 TCN gift cards and some JB gift cards.

However not sure if there’ll be a difference with using Ultimate gift cards?

        • The difference is not dependent on whether you’re using TCN or Ultimate gift cards.

The difference is actually dependent on whether staff are happy for you to split payments for Apple gift cards across multiple TCN or Ultimate gift cards.

          • @WookieMonster: Gotcha, so TCN and Ultimate gift cards are treated the same at the POS, whether it works or not just depends on the staff?
