I wish that my Chemist would stop holding onto my repeat scripts. Nice people, but always a hassle to ask for scripts back. I usually just want to get out of there.

    • Yes, I never leave scrips as I don't always shop at same chemist.

  • +2

    quite low ball IMO

    • Considering the last offer from SB was $2 bonus on $20 spend on CW gift cards but that was an introductory offer for the launch of CW gift cards on SB

Need more sample sizes I reckon to determine if $5 bonus on $100 CW is OzB standard since it’s still new-ish

    • +2

any discount on a gift card gets the upvotes for some reason

  • Can CW gift cards be used to pay for prescriptions?

    • Yep

    • +6

You could also use Priceline Pharmacy gift cards for prescriptions and the cashback would be $11 on a $100 gift card. Much better than the $6 from Chemist Warehouse.

PBS prescriptions are generally the same price at all pharmacies so you'd be saving even more money.

      • +1

That's a good point. However, even some supposedly "generic" medicines cost differently for different brands, and Chemist Warehouse has some of the cheaper brands. E.g. metformin for diabetes —there's one brand at CW that's 46% cheaper than the cheapest equivalent at Priceline ($7.50 versus $10.95), and when I asked Priceline, they said they can specially order in that brand, but it would still cost $8.50, which even after an 11% discount, would be $7.56 (so, still more than CW's $7.50 without any discount). So, it pays to shop around, I guess!

  • Thanks. Didn't even know CW had discounted gift cards until now!

Any idea how to save as PDF/forward from within the iOS app? The button to add to Apple Wallet doesn't work from within the app and there's no Open in Safari/Chrome button that I can find :S

    • Just make a screenshot and use it.

Some stores are struggling to process these gift cards. I tried to use my $20 gift card at one store and it took 3 people and 6 minutes to work out how to process it. And at another store they were unable to process it at all.

    • +8

I've been using these to purchase prescriptions for a few years now and the experience hasn't been fun.

The staff aren't trained on how to process gift cards as I don't think many customers use them. Which is fine if it wasn't for the attitude from most of the cashiers, for instance openly complaining about having to deal with them (err what?) or outright lying about the scanner being broken. Once they figure it out and I reply with "You learned something new today." they look bemused instead of happy for acquiring knowledge to help them in their role.

I don't know whether it's a refection on the type of people they hire or yet another example of customer service becoming non-existent.

Sending feedback about it to CW HQ didn't result in my concerns being addressed properly either.

A discount is a discount though.

      • +1

Used my Priceline GC many times and no problems with purchases. Also a bigger discount than CW gift cards.

      • That's why I use click & collect, no issues redeeming their gift cards online.

        • +1

You can't pay for prescriptions that way.

      • Sounds like Chemist Warehouse should rebrand to Chemist Shi*house

        • +1

          chemist whorehouse..

Worth checking individual items, they seem to bump the prices up on things for cashback sales and stuff

    • Same here

    • +1

I had an opposite experience to yours.
I used my $20 gift card for the first time last week + price beat
the young man was a regular staff (not a manager) and only took him 3 seconds to scan my phone screen.
and he was very helpful when price beat, no bad attitude at all.
I think the lesson here is to avoid mid-age/old ladies who is not good at learning new technology.

      • +1

The cashiers with attitude were mostly young.

        • Again I find the opposite.
Whether at Officeworks or CW, it's always the older/senior staffs trying to give me a 10 mins speech and block my price beat request.
The young kids just don't care and happy to follow their policy. lol
It's not their money so they always give me a big smile.

          • @AsukaST: The advantage of young staff not caring is sometimes it can work in your favour.

I have got a few price beats through at OW which weren't exactly valid by targetting younger team members.

Although I've noticed the policy nowadays is the request has to be verified by a manager as well?

      • Also - wow, you found a unicorn at CW.

      • What was the price beat on and what is their price beat?
I got my first price beat at Reject Shop on the Dishwasher tablets last week.
Stocked up for the next year.

    • Haha a lot of effort and time for a couple of bucks.

      • +5

I think you just described OzBargain perfectly!

        • Ha, exactly.. I usually draw the line at gift cards, especially spend 100$ to get 2$ etc
However I jumped on the 8$ cashback on 100$ JB hifi, lol.

      • Because "time is money" works both ways.

        • Except people spend heaps of time on a lot of this crap that just doing a bit of extra work. Probably just doing it at work anyway haha

      • The CW gift cards I've been using were purchased via credit card cashback offers - Amex, Latitude, Westpac et al - one resulted in $50 off.

        • Cool
Latitude price protection is great too and worth my time submitting claims.

    • +1

Similar with Bunnings eGift cards, basically don't work. They tell you to print it from your phone.

      • Sounds like we're in 2002 here haha.

    • I only go to store where it has worked flawlessly stores which are 5mins away, 10mins and 15mins away… or use it online purchases and click n collect.

      • Every store in my radius is awful.

Reverted back to the one where they at least try to figure it out instead of lying about broken scanners.

    • Do they have to scan your phone? Or do you have to print out the digital gift card?

      • +1

They have the ability to scan from your phone so no need to print them out, although you can if you want to. But as has been mentioned above, I also frequently encounter problems with staff not being able to process the cards, especially when you need to use two when using the remaining balance from the first card and trying to use a second in the same transaction.

        • Thanks. Sounds like a hassle especially if the store is busy which usually is where I go to. I hope their scanners work well there

        • I made their brains explode when trying to use a mix of physical and digital gift cards once as payment.

      • I've found they have slightly less issues with the physical form of the gift card at the counter compared to digital.

The majority of my frustration described in the comments relates to physical gift cards so it's scary thinking about using digital in-store.

I got 10$ cash back with the MacDonalds app, after winning I realized this deals slightly worse, so I just gave the website the finger and requested my details to be deleted.

  • Don't see this challenge on my app. Only see the event cinema one?

    • The challenge isn’t targeted I think
It should be in the Earn More —> Gift Cards or if you head to the ShopBack Gift Card store there should be a similar promo banner there too

  • chemist warehouse $100 already sold out on my app

    • Same.

    • +3

You can buy two $50 cards instead to meet the challenge requirement

      • it's sold out too..
20, 50 and 100 are all sold out.

  • anyone try to use instore? as can't scan last time.

    • +1

      Read the comments above.

no deal if no CWH $100 GC

  • I didn't get this on my shopback but I got $100 on select brands including CW

    • That's literally what this is.

      • i see i see

just made it look like CW specific

        • +1

Without it, this deal would not have aggreated 20 upvotes. Previously, no one was even bothered to post a similar deal.

  • @gotyourback Is there a timeframe as to when the $100 Chemist Warehouse Gift Cards will be restocked? Mods: can you help with tagging in the ShopBack rep? Have I done this correctly?

  • +6

Chemist Warehouse $20, $50, $100, and $200 denominations all "Sold Out". What a crock. These are e-gift cards, not physical ones and therfore should not be sold out! Considering that this is the first day of the promo, restricting availability to this degree is disgraceful. Don't Chemist Warehouse want to sell as much merchandise as possible?

    • Exactly right Smithy. It gets people in the door. The same reason that ColesWorth push their specials, which, in some cases, are loss leaders. CWH can't possibly lose on a 5% discount, and they would get additional sales.

    • I think this is more a shopback issue. They want to maintain a certain level of profit

    • Hey there @ssmith3104, sorry for the delayed reply here, I missed your comment until now. To explain, we only have access to a certain number of gift card codes for each brand and denomination at any given time, so stock can be limited in that way. If we sell through the stock quicker than expected, then we need to source more stock from the brands which can take time. We do our best to be prepared where we can, but if it proves to be popular, we can be left without for a short amount of time until they're re-stocked with us. Hope this helps to clarify, we should hopefully have more available from Chemist Warehouse next time we have a bonus available for them given how popular they are here on OzB.
