Coles Mobile $20 Plan: 30 Days, 15GB Data, Unlimited National & Intl Call & Text to 15 Countries, Data Rollover up to 50GB

290

I believe this is the cheapest prepaid plan with international inclusion (on a month to month basis) if you're happy with Optus network

Includes -

Unlimited standard national talk and text
Unlimited standard international calls to 15 selected destinations*
Rollover up to 50GB when you recharge before expiry or when you maintain an active AutoRecharge

*International destinations are: Canada, mainland China, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States

Also, probably one of the few deals recharge every 30-days rather than 28-days (looking at Amaysim and Boost)

$20 belong with unlimited international calls tonnes of GB and not Optus.

    • mind linking it? Cheapest I found in belong was $25 +$5 extra for international calls, also 20GB not such a big difference (Coles is 15GB with 50 GB data rollover)

Lebara has $15 plan with international call but only 4gb data. If you want cheaper use the $120 6 month plan that woolies sell for $60 every second week, that gives you 80gb and after 6 months just do switch and back.

    • plus 40(?) countries to land lines…. 22Gbyte - unlimited Rollover.

Telstra network (2nd tier I think)
    https://www.aldimobile.com.au/collections/mobile-plans

Family plan is fantastic though - $80.00 for four numbers - 88Gbyte - unlimited Rollover

  • Do they have something similar to Woolworths' 10% discounted shopping per month?
    Thanks

  • Just needs 110 % cashback.

Boost is a little cheaper and then full Telstra network, I paid $144 for 12 months with 140GB and that includes unlimited calls to like 20 countries too, so only $12/month for ~11GB of data. $19 cashback too so only $10/month really. Horses for courses I guess.

    so expensive

    Roaming?

  • +2

Gomo has $25 with 40gb and 15 countries unlimted calls

  • +1

Would this have roaming overseas, just for the purpose of receiving text message?

    • +1

No, this does not have roaming overseas… found out the hard way earlier this year

      • Any idea or if theres a list of which prepaid sims have roaming overseas? Just need to receive text, dont intend on using for calls/data.

        • I believe Coles are rolling out VoWifi across their network, so maybe it may work now? https://colesmobile.com.au/home/page/get-volte

          • @zooter: I read somewhere that Optus geoblocks VoWifi to Australian IP addresses, but if you hotspot your Coles phone to another device that has a VPN to Australia that it would work.

      • +1

Roaming, voWifi and Volte all now active for new customers
Rolling out gradually to current customers

      • Previously true but now outdated information https://colesmobile.com.au/home/page/switch-on-roaming

    • Amaysim I know for a fact allows you to receive texts whilst abroad. All you need to do is activate the roaming by logging into your account. I lived abroad for a few years and used them to keep my Australian number active. I will be going out of the country next month and intend porting to Amaysim's cheapest prepaid plan for that purpose. Hoping for a free sim deal or upsized cash back soon.

    • Yes, it works overseas (tested in Singapore and India) ..had full coverage and was able to receive text messages

  • +1

Boost can not receive text messages internationally which is a serious problem for OTP

    • Multiple people here confirmed it works if you have Wi-Fi calling enabled and access to Wi-Fi. Both calls and SMS.

    • If you have vowifi it works.
Also, had signal overseas - my sim registered in France / Spain / UAE a month ago and was able to receive SMS with no issues whatsoever.

What's the point of free international calls (to some countries only)? Is it just to avoid the small data usage of VOIP?

    • How are you going to make a free voip call from your iPhone to a UK mobile number ?

      • How often are you cold calling UK mobile numbers?

If it's not a cold call to a stranger, there's so many apps for a free VoIP call to anyone in the world for free - Discord, as one random example. I'm sure there are other, web-based ones where you can just text, email, or smoke-signal them a link and off you go.

  • Aldi mobile has international roaming which I don't find in any other mobile companies. Correct me if wrong.
Yes, the charges are very high but you get free incoming sms which is handy for OTPs.
