I got these about a week ago for ~$24
For this price, you can't really go wrong, but don't expect miracles. The audio quality is fine for most people, you can watch streaming services or listen to music without issue.
Call quality is not horrible, it's much better than you would expect in a moderately quiet environment. The microphones are not as sensitive as say Apple AirPod's and obviously they don't have any features like ANC.

The biggest surprise was the distance I could get from a laptop. I was over 30m away and still listening to streaming music from the PC

    • +8

Thanks for the mini review. I just unboxed mine and testing them out but so far very happy with my purchase. It's mind boggling that people buy branded stuff costing over 10 times the price when these are perfectly adequate. I love how they are small and discreet to use at work and the impressive 24 hour battery life.

      • +6

The ones that cost over 10x… $250 typically have ANC …

        • +5

ANC is overrated unless your working in an environment that has a constant level of background noise.

          • +6

@shroomish: Even just mowing the lawn is an advantage for anc I find.
Or sitting in the office, cutting out the drone of the A/C.
Sitting on a train or plane has the same advantage.

            • +9

@Rail Rider95: confirmed: ANC = Aircon Noise Cancellation

              • +2

@RevMet: It's crazy, when I put them on, I don't necessarily notice how much sound it cuts out.
As soon as I take them off though, the whole world of sound comes crashing in on me haha

            • +2

@Rail Rider95: Depends on the job. I need to hear ambient sounds for safety reasons so ANC unsuitable for my needs.

            • +1

@Rail Rider95: Im getting downvotes but youre exactly right. ANC is reactive in countering noise. So it works best for constant drone type sounds rather than sharp peaky noises.

              • -1

@shroomish: I certainly didn't downvote you. But I think almost every normal environment has sounds that ANC works well against.

            • +4

@Rail Rider95: Don't solely depend on ANC when mowing. Your ears are still being bombarded with loud noise so you're still damaging your hearing. You should be able to wear your earbuds and ear muffs at the same time though.

              • @scupper: You're absolutely right.
However, that's not why I use ANC. It's just for my own benefit.
Already have an electric lawnmower, so that cuts out a lot of the noise to begin with.

          • +1

@shroomish: For me ANC is a life saver. I can concentrate on my work without my chatty colleagues, phone calls and ZeBlock discussions. I can listen to my fav music on the train without being submerged into details of family life of the person next to me, who is on the phone with his aunty. I can't imagine my life without ANC now.

            • +1

@corvusman: I've found ANC only works for constant noise that the ANC can… well… cancel out. Otherwise PNC is the way to go. These have a good sound seal and low profile. At $24 they are worth the try before dumping $500 on airpods.

              • @Elfarol: Not saying anything about these earphones, the price is really amazing

            • @corvusman: What pairs do you use?

              • @kehuehue: I went through Taotronics > Airpods pro > Bose QC

You can't beat Bose, in my opinion. It's expensive, but I'm happy to make this sacrifice to keep my sanity (yes, I hate noise).

          • @shroomish: Mostly people like it when its noisy 😉

        • I got ANC at $50 last prime day

      • +4

I've had these type of cheaper buds in the past, and every single one of them broke or ended up having an issue, yes they worked as intended for a while but eventually just gave up the ghost or has weird ass issues that frustrated me… I have had my galaxy bud+ for a long time, and I for one am happy to pay $130 for something that has lasted me alot longer than the cheap alternatives.

        • +4

I had airpods gave up on me just 2 months over 2 years of warranty period and Apple wants $130 to look at it.

          • +2

@ashftc: Wow that's how much my buds+ cost outright, I've had them for close to 2 years… My personal rule is unless I get given a free Apple product I won't buy one (via work etc)… I'm not a fan of how they treat their users/customers but this is my personal view and not a reflection of the products Apple manufacturers.

        • +4

All of wireless airbuds will eventually die out. Even both my Airpods died after 2 years and they cost $150-$200 each. At least these ones, will cost you only $25-$40 to replace, even if its every year.

          • @John: Agreed hence I bought them.

        • Ive had a set of tozos, not sure which model, for near on 2 years. Great for gym and motorbike. Only replaced them last week with nc version, because i lost one in my hotel room. Sneaky little bastard - looked everywhere

      • +3

You're paying the extra for quality controls and additional features.

The first thing skipped on cheaper devices is proper QA on their production lines, and during their development. You are more likely to get some nonfunctioning on arrival, and also failure over its lifespan.
Advanced features like Multipoint and ANC cost additional RnD and QA time. If you don't use these features, then sure not for you - but plenty do and have reasons to pay extra for them.
Then there is the obvious audio quality improvements and better microphones.

        • Not to mention if you use the headphone like 10x a day for Zoom etc, you are experiencing the minor pains associated with the earphone multiple times and thousands of times over the years of owning these.

    • Where did you get them about a week ago from? I prefer not to order from amazon…

      • +1

I prefer not to order from amazon…

isnt it the other way round? Amazon has easy returns

      • Amazon :-)

      • +5

Amazon should be your most trusted place to buy. Amazon has the best customer service and return service in Australia.

        • +5

Some people don't like giving money to global tax-dodging companieswith terrible employee relations that abuse their size to bully their way into any market

          • +1

            @hotphil: Some people like bargains.
Those people buy from Amazon when they have them.

  • +2

I’ve owned these for a month or so. Super happy them. They reliably pair between a few different devices which is so nice after my last cheap BT earphones frustrated me so much I went back to wired for a year.

    • What's the charging port on the case, micro or type-c?

  • I can recommend tozo earphones, esp NC2. Far better than the OZB favourite SoundPeats which has the annoying "feature" of connecting to the phone when the csse battery dies and the earphones are still in case.

Initially bought 1 and then bought another 4 for gifts. I had to return 1 but it was easy with Amazon. I even dropped 1 from around 1m height but its still working ( as of today)

    • Argggh have exactly the same issue with a couple of pairs of Taotronics. Very annoying.

  • Got mine yesterday and for the price (~$25) very happy with them overall, but just one issue.

In some more quiet passages of music, get this strange sort of echoey sibilance on higher pitch sounds e.g. have a headphone tester CD with range of sounds and this effect is really prominent on one track that is just ringing of temple-like bells. Not present on the lower range sounds e.g. beach sounds, fireworks etc. and after I adjusted the equalizer to flat in VLC quite surprised about their bass ability, it's just this one niggle with the higher pitch sounds.

Anyone else had a similar issue or should I just get Amazon to replace?

  • Is the any bass good for music? Soundpeats air 3 are good but they were $60.

    • I think these are great but there’s not much bass really.

  • I am not sure how good will they fit in my ear. Has anyone bought Tozo NC2?

    • +6

Nobody with your ears has bought Tozo NC2

      • -5

        Ha ha. So funny

  • +6

I have a feeling Edifier X3 Mini will be better than this for $6 extra.

    • There was a BOGOF sale on ebay a month or two ago. I was put off and something that needs to be checked is the charging input. This might have micro-usb charging. The naming and various models are confusing.

      • +1

Are you referring to the Edifier? One of the image has text saying it is USB-C. But who knows :-)

        • Yeah, I must have missed the pic

  • Multipoint support?
I just want some cheap in-ear earbuds (apple style earbuds don't fit in my canal) with a stem (I do a lot of calls between personal and work phone and I think the stem helps for microphone quality).

    • +1

I've had a few QCY earbuds and have been happy with the price-to-quality performance.

I don't have this model, but it might suit your needs:
      https://amzn.asia/d/6J3Ze9v

      • Almost… But since I'm carrying two phones I need multi point.

  • -1

What are chepa headphones good for iphone calls?? Modst of them crap mic or something bad noises

  • +4

My go to place for cheap TWS reviews has one on the Tozo A1 (as well as the T6/9/12):
    https://www.scarbir.com/tws/best-tozo-earbuds

Apparently call quality is not it's strong suit … plus a few other issues too.

    • 3.5/5 for sound quality is a bit average, I'm surprised how popular these seem to be.

The QCY T13 or T17 seem to be better buys, on sale the T13 is similar in price while the T17 is a little cheaper.

  • How much lag/delay does the audio have?

    • +1

I think with Bluetooth 5.3 you won’t notice any lag. I really hate lag but with the later versions of Bluetooth, it’s almost gone, hardly noticeable. Even Apple Airpods have small lag

      • Thanks, yes I hated the lag with earlier wireless earphones which was why I opted to get one that was aptX to minimise the lag. For these earphones, does the source device need tohave bluetooth 5.3 as well? I think my phone only has 4.0.

        • +1

Ìf your phone only has 4.0 then it only works up to 4.0. My iphone has Bluetooth 5.0 and when I connect to 5.0 devices almost no lag, very similar to Apple airpods.

  • +1

Hi, does anyone know if these are these charged by USB-C or Micro USB please? Thanks

  • Any good deals for non-pro-Airpod style earphones? So many good bargains for the in-ear silicone style, but less so for the 'sit in ear' style

  • Thanks! Might buy these for when I work in the office. Seems pointless to bring my fancy over-the-ear headphones to work, only to have them rested on one ear so I can hear my coworkers lol

  • Couple of questions (and if these aren't, any recommendations):
    USB-C?
    Wireless charging?

    • Reading the reviews looks like USB-C but no wireless charging

  • +1

    Absolutely did not need.
    Bought.

    Thanks OP

  • I bought these recently but had to return them as I could just not get them to connect to my Chromecast/Google TV (the main reason I needed them). I tried everything. Seemed fine connecting to all my other devices, and I really liked the form factor, so it was really frustrating! Ended up getting the Yamaha ones from JB instead. Pretty happy with them though the Tozo A1s were a better fit for my ears.
Anyway, just thought to mention it in case anyone else wanted to connect to a CWGTV.

    • That's interesting. I also couldn't get them to connect to my Sony / Android TV - I haven't tried recently with any other BT device, but from memory I think I had the same problem with PowerBeats3 and the same TV. Now I am going to have to check and see if it's these buds or the TV that has the issue.

    • Do the Yamaha ones have better sound quality than the Tozo A1s?

      • I'm not sure. I didn't spend enough time with the Tozos. They sounded pretty good to me though. Based on reviews though I think the Yamaha ones might have the edge (unsurprisingly).

  • Can anyone comment on the fit of this earbuds. Seem similar shape the the Soundpeats Sonic earbuds that I've bought but had to return as it keeps falling out of my ears (even when sitting down or during slow walk).

  • Stupid question— can this be used to connect an iPhone? Or just android phones?

  • Can't go wrong with price, I'm good at losing these (small easy to accidentally lose in the wash or drop under the seat on planes etc) so I cant buy expensive ones.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I just lost one of my fancy earbuds down into the train line so this is my new price point.

Does anyone know an ear bud that plays very quiet? I always find with headphones that the lowest is too loud.

    • +1

I found on Android I can reduce the volume per app. I turn the app down to 30% then I can use the lowest 2-3 system volume levels comfortably

      • Thank you for helping! Did you download App Volume Control to do that?

        • +1

I didn't, it might be built into LG's modifications to Android.
When I press a volume button the volume bar shows up, underneath it is a button with pictures of sliders, when I click that if there's an app currently playing audio there's a volume slider for that app

  • +1

Great brand, and great price, love these.

  • Do you have to have both turned on for one of them to work??

    • +1

No. I listen to them 99% with just the one.

  • Oos :(

    • No just ordered another pair

  • Whats the battery life like roughly?

  • Great for the price. Good sound quality for music, not so much with calling

  • A review from an Aussie for this product…

These worked well and felt good in the ear until one day the sound went wonky and distorted. Nothing stressful had happened to them (not hot, cold, wet, dropped), just stopped working right. tried recharging, different output sources, all bad.

This is the result of unknown brands from China. I nearly pull the trigger but gave up by this comment.

    • If you want a reputable brand get Redmi Buds 3 Lite instead. Roughly this price around $25-30. You will find them on ebay.

    • bought into the hype, got them today. will report back on whether it was worth it

  • +1

Clicked on the thread to read comments …ended up buying it …. totally didn't need them..

  • This or NC2?

  • Black out of stock or no longer available

    • +1

Ordered the white, now black available again
      🤦🏻‍♂️

  • Received, definitely on the weaker side for bass and larger then my galaxy buds 2.

    Good for the price though

    • +1

can you check if the battery % is ever reported correctly? it shows 100% all the time when connected via bluetooth on my phone.

      • Mines working fine.

        • yeah battery went down. had issue one where one bud didnt pair with the order. connected to my pc and phone fine, but not the Quest 2. which is a shame, wanted to try out low latency

  • anyone getting pairing issues with these? works fine with my phone, but the Oculus Quest 2, it doesnt pair.
