  • The coupon page says it excludes apple

  • +9

Mine didn’t come with spare leads, but, more worryingly, the clicker was jammed. Hopefully you have more luck than me

    • +12

Its not mechanical, you need to use a sharpener

      • +4

I feel so stupid. I guess the instruction manual says only to use a genuine Apple sharpener? I just tried whittling with a Swiss Army knife, but I’m not getting anywhere

    • +5

I got my pen licence a while back. Been holding out for the Apple release

      • Lol. I think I have two pen licenses from changing schools around the time most kids get their pen licenses. I’m not sure I could pass the exam in adulthood. My writing legit just looks like scribbles, even to me.

  • +3

Thanks, despite the exclusion coupon still worked.

  • Nice thanks op

  • Surprisingly this has become a must for using an iPad for me, helps with the minor hand/finger fatigue using the iPad for long periods of time.

  • Is it worth upgrading from 1st Gen?

    • +1

If you’re currently using a first gen then the gen 2 will not work with your iPad.

If you plan to upgrade your iPad to a newer model then you’ll need to also upgrade your pencil at the same time.

      • +5

This here is why apple is a trillion dollar company. Because of its consumers putting up with shenanigans like these.

        • +3

Yeh nothing like this in the Windows/Android ecosystems. Totally unique to Apple.

          • @0jay: apple by far has many more dedicated fans that are willing to spend silly $ to buy anything with an apple logo

            • +1

              @billsa:

willing to silly $ to buy any item with an apple logo

              If you say so, champ.

            • @billsa: … more users in richer countries(Australia, US) and users with more disposable income. See the recent forum topic.

            • @billsa: So even more reason for them not to pull anti consumer crap like that if their user base would buy the latest and greatest anyway.

              • @TheContact: On the contrary. All the more reason for them to do it because their user base would buy the latest and greatest anyway.

Now if their userbase would not put up with this anti consumer bs by voting with their wallets then they would have to think things through.

        • Wacom got away with making pens that only work with a single model for years. The Pencil measures pressure, angle, and strokes very accurately and this is just what pens on that level cost. You’ll pay this much and more for a comparable quality pen or system with any other graphics tablet.

  • Am I missing something? If the item is 199 then you only get 20 bucks off not 30?

    How is this 169 delivered?

    • +1

      15% of 200 is 30

    • 199 - 20 = 169 ❌179

      199 - 30 = 169 ✔

      • But the requirement to get $30 off is to spend 200 - this is 199. In my understanding this will only get $20 off not $30

  • Wow thanks OP! Can’t believe it worked. Hope they honour it?!

  • where do you enter the code? - edit - never mind found it and got one, thanks OP!

  • Nice one thanks OP

  • +1

Is this a good price for unleaded pencil?

    • +1

      Super!

  • +1

haha apple are such crooks! $169 for a pen??

    • +3

And 200 bucks for an applewatch band that cost about 15 cents to manufacture

      • How can I make a business that taps into this crowd? Seems they'll pay top dollar for anything

  • +1

    Is it John Wick proof?

  • Hi all, can anyone confirm if this model will work with standard (non-Pro or Air version) iPads? The Apple website only lists Pro and Air, but I've heard anecdotally that it works with others. Cheers

Thanks, but is that just copied from the Apple website or similar? haha. Was more looking for first-hand accounts that it does or does not work on standard iPad models.

    • +2

The standard iPad would have no way of charging this even if it worked, as it charges magnetically.

      • -6

Thanks! This was the kind of info I was after from someone more "in the know".

  • Just got shipping confirmation. Thanks OP
