Hi guys,

I'm not sure why this one has not been shared here.
I didn't plan to upgrade my base model Switch,
but took the plunge anyway as the oled model might be around for a little longer.

Plus the colour scheme looks very cool in my opinion.
Be mindful that this doesn't come with any game.

Harvey is offering this for the same price, but it's free delivery with prime on the next day.

Note: RRP is $550.

? Oled switches quite often go for around 400. Their 'default price' (not RRP) is 489

I'm not sure why this one has not been shared here.

because it's Ozbargain here? where 6% = no discount?

    and it looks bad….

  • +3

Silly question, it comes with the actual game … Right…?

    • +5

no game included, as shown on the box image lol. Then it's quite expensive

    • +1

No. It's just the OLED console with decals on the dock and joycons.

      • +2

Pay extra ~ $100 (compared to bargain price) for some decals? Adios me voy!

  • Overpriced hardware selling well 'cause the competition is not doing portable and the home console competition costs even more. Nintendo can keep prices nice and high.

    • -2

Steam Deck, Retroid, Ayaneo, Odin… These are hand helds that should make Nintendo worried! I hope they try a bit harder next gen.

      • +1

The Nintendo is DOOMED threads have been around since the N64 era.

As long as you can play Nintendo games ONLY on Nintendo hardware for anyone outside of the hardcore niche market its not going to matter.

Why is it so hard for people to understand?

        • Competition is good.

Arrogance is what makes Nintendo think they can half arse their online service, games, console experience etc.

They haven't even fixed joy con drift that was around since launch.

As soon as people expect more than bare minimum Nintendo the better.

If Nintendo had of had another flop after the Wii U, I honestly wouldn't of been surprised they abandoned the hardware market like Sega did.

          Nintendo aren't consistent.

          Successes:
          NES
          SNES
          GameBoy
          GBA
          DS
          Wii
          Switch

          Failures:
          VirtualBoy
          Wii U
          GameCube

          Average:
          N64
3DS (eventually did good, but had a terrible launch)

          • @PainToad: Be nice if they made any effort to make their consoles more premium and games backwards compatible (considering they are 2/3 price of an xbox series x or PS5).
Its why I stopped buying their consoles.
Making you buy the same games each generation with slight visual upgrades.
Buying the games then having to buy add-on packs to get all of the characters, race tracks, etc.
Both Sony and Microsoft have backwards compatability, not sure why some outdated, under-performing, and over-priced hardware couldnt at least match them on software.
Makes you wonder how much longer they can continue to survive on nostalgia.

            • @hellrazorone: It's not "nostalgia", Nintendo still make really good games, and nobody is "making" you buy WiiU games ported to switch, if you own a Wii U you really don't have much reason to buy these games again on Switch as long as you're not completely impulsive with your money and can live without the small amount of extra content they add to these ports.

The Wii U and switch have entirely different input methods, how is the switch meant to conjure a second screen to become backwards compatible with the Wii U, these games need specialised ports to run on the Switch, it's not plug and play.

Also no, nintendo didn't invent DLC, Mario Kart's DLC is far from ripping content from the games and reselling it, a couple of tracks and characters sold as DLC isn't withholding from the rest of the content in the game, and once again, if you're not just totally impulsive with your money you can live without it, as for MK8 Deluxe, 30 bucks for 48 tracks is fine, MK8 Deluxe's base game has 48 tracks, you're being sold a whole new game's worth of tracks for 30 bucks, that's a fine value.

              • @chepsk8: We're on ozbargain. 99% of us are impulsive lol

They could have allowed Virtual Console purchases from the Wii and Wii U to move over to the Switch. Instead they:
                * Created the shitty Nintendo Switch (plus Expansion Pack) subscription.
                * Bundled Mario 64 and Galaxy into a low effort package, instead of letting people download their existing Virtual Console copies on the Switch.

Many digital games I brought on the 360 15 years ago are playable on my Xbox Series X with no additional charge.

                that's a fine value.

Lol yeah. Charging shitty courses ported over from a shitty mobile game with zero effort if great value. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXiqwuAgJRc

                • @PainToad: If you don't agree with the visual quality that's fine, make an informed purchasing decision, but they play fine, and for less than a dollar per track, it's still a fine value.

  • Do you know if the joycons will be sold separately?

And rumours of Switch Pro/Switch 2 are ever increasing. It was apparently delayed due to the pandemic and record high sales.

    • +13

Rumours of the Switch Pro have been increasing for years. It's all made up. Eventually someone will say it and be right out of dumb luck. If you want it now, get it now.

      • Seeing how Splatoon 1 came out on the ass end of the Wii U's life span and got two years of support before Splatoon 2 quickly dropped, I'd imagine the same will occur with 3 since it's also confirmed to have two years of support, once Splatoon 3 wraps up we'll probably have a "Switch pro" or whatever the hell they'll call it revealed in late 2024 and on sale by early 2025, with a fourth title releasing some time shortly after that in 2025.

    • If you own a switch right now, it's your call. If not, buy it and trade-in when the pro comes out.

      • Nah I have the Oled already.
But I do like me them joycons

    • Extremely out dated technology ☑️
    • RRP ☑️
    • No game included ☑️
    • JoyCon drift issue not by Nintendo ☑️
  • Desperation mode!!

  • +1

Tempted to buy this one even though I have the Animal Crossing console but this price is a huge turn off.

    • -3

      Why exactly?

  • This is not a limited special, you ca buy it whole year. Perhaps it may drop further.

  • No bargain here , no sireee

    • BuT It'S NinTendoOoo!!

  • Is there any available Cashrewards for this? Quick glance would say 0%. I’m just trying to convince myself I want to buy this.

  • +4

Holding firm here for a 400ish oled. Hopefully it happens before black friday

  • Thanks for all the replies,
I game mainly on PS and Xbox.

Nintendo is probably my least favourite one, but I've always got suckered to spend money on their AAA games and consoles.

    Probably the nostalgic factor. Lol.
