Any Cheap Yearly Mobile Plans For Elderly?

My parents are going to come from overseas to live in AU for about a year or so. I am looking to get them a yearly mobile plan with sms and calls with minimal data (Anything above 40GB a year should be fine). I haven't been able to spot a yearly plan that meets these requirements under $80. Not sure if that's the standard or if there would be any other cheap alternatives.
Edit: Would this be the best deal right now for me?: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/717882

You want a mobile sim for less than $7 a month??

    Dreaming.

Kogan and amaysim the cheapest I know of @ $99/year

    https://www.amaysim.com.au/plans/long-expiry-plans/unlimited…
    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

    • Amaysim has a small amount of cashback. Anything below these two are probably pay as you go, which equates to less data.

    • Recent comments said they got 120GB on the Kogan 80GB plan.

    • Kogan plans IMO have proven significantly better than amaysim. For the brief time I had amaysim I never managed to get any data to flow through their pipe.

Kogan on the other hand have proven to be a solid product.

I say that knowing that it's Kogan. I hate Kogan, would never purchase anything from them other than their mobile (Vodafone) offering.

  • Colesworth an option?

Woolworths long expiry plans aren't cheap. But you can offset the cost with the 10% off shop once a month deal that goes with them. So like the 100GB 365 day expiry plan is $140, which is $11-67 per month. But if you or they sign up to Everyday Rewards and do a $100 shop at Woolworths once each month for groceries you would have had to buy somewhere anyway you get $10 off, so unlimited calls and 8.3 GB/month of data is costing you $1-67 a month.

  • Aldimobile when they are on specials, otherwise long life expiry 12 months using it for calls only no data. Wifi if needed at home

  • check catch connect $89/year

  • What about giving them a sim that has just data, and setting them up with a voip number through Skype or something, and installing all the usual social apps that everyone has to message for free. Telstra shape the data after the limit is used for the month, so it's effectively unlimited. The shaped speed probably is good enough for voice calls. $15 a month for 5GB plus unlimited shaped data.

  • minimal data (Anything above 40GB a year should be fine).

This is a joke, right? Will your parents be using their phones for movies instead of wifi?

    • Usually around 3gbs is more than enough, but I think it would be safer if they had 1 extra gb a month for emergencies, as they usually use around 2gbs a month.
