Save your $4 and put it towards the 4k, because this movie is one of the best of all time.

    • Interesting. I didn't like it.

        Interesting I did like it..

    • Was okay but enjoyed Abominable more

    • If you like "typical Disney" along with SciFi you'll feel that way.

      I do, so I do :D

  • It'll be a jb price match

Why are DVDs still a thing?

The soundtrack is available on LP 😅

    • Because not everyone has internet connections fast enough to stream? And not everyone wants to pay for higher prices for Blu Rays?

BluRay is honestly a chore with disneys chosen style of copy protection.

If im going to watch it somewhere with an internet connection; I'll stream it in 4k.

If I'm going to watch it on a disk, I'll take the DVD.

Very few at the time understood what HDDVD losing the format war really meant in terms of 'bother' for the consumer….

      • Copy protection? I genuinely have no idea what you mean. I put Disney bd's in the xbox, they play. That's all i need.

No issue mate happy to help; the simple version is:

BluRay has a 'decryption key' needed to decode the disks; since its a 'current format' occasionally these are updated to try and stop piracy (doesnt work).

There's a good chance your xbox has had a connection to internet at some point, so likely was running on a new enough drive firmware to decrypt that disk.

Many bluray players, even today, are shipping on 'release day' firmware, and some Merantz and Sony players even expect to be online when a new disk is inserted (even if the decryption key is known) to check there arent 'newer ones' (and will refuse to play if not…)

This is why it was so hard to watch movies like Avatar and several Disney released, on release day; because many brands hadn't packaged the new keys into a firmware yet.

Hopefully thats filled in your missing idea for you :)

The higher capacity of bluray was the pseudo reason that they won the format war.

But the reality is that 'companies' didnt like that HDDVD wasnt encrypted.

Most bluray disks arent full. And as we all expected, encryption was quickly cracked anyway, and is now just a bother.

Was a sad format-war loss (hd-dvd vs Bluray); the exact opposite reason of why VHS won over Beta tapes. It was more closed, and less accessible. Ick.

    • Dvd player built into the car, doesn't work with blu Ray etc.. I horde kids movies for long drives

Pretty worthless without Big Hero 1-5.

    Yes I'm joking.

  • It's on Disney plus with 4k with DV for those who prefer better quality than DVD
