Using Credit Card Hacks to Pay Contractors for Home Renovations

Hi,

I recently got applied for Citibank rewards credit card and would be getting 100K points on 3K spend within 3 months.

Now I have about $15K to be paid to contractors for home renovations in the next 2 weeks who all have BSB accounts.

How can I pay using my CC without incurring fees and still earn points for the above transactions? Will be using the 55 day Interest free period to spread them over 2 billing cycles so that is manageable however how can I do this?

I am aware there are many hacks that may not be publicly discussed however, it would be good to know few tricks here..

Cheers

You should have negotiated a discount on CC fee before agreeing to the work to be done. Sounds like the deal is done and you already owe the money.

    • That is not what I am saying. Paying upfront is not a problem however I want to use this to generate reward points, that is why want to pay using my CC.
The money I owe to the contractors was already locked IN before this as well.. I am just trying to find a smarter way to pay this..
      that's all

      • Is the CC fee the contractors charge greater than the rewards?

        • 1 of them wont accept CC other one probably will hit me with 1.5%.

If I could pay using beemit or prepaid visa/mastercard straight into their account that would be ideal.

Would be good to know some hacks ..

ask if they accept itune cards for payment?

  • Most payment processors need you to have an ABN. Do you have one?

You can pay via CitiPayAll using BSB and account number in the app. At the moment there is no service fee and you still earn points.

    Its call citipay
Just search ozb youll find it. Could be targetted. You can try call citi to ask if they can give you.

    Received in email. Maybe targeted.
Free points on your rents, and any other fees that normally don’t accept credit cards without a fee.

    Email excerpt below:

We are writing to advise you of an update we are making to the Citi PayAll product feature available on your Citi Rewards Card.

For all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2022 (the Period), the Citi PayAll fee will be reduced to 0%:

    • Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up during the Period will not incur the Citi PayAll fee for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

    • Any Citi PayAll payments set up after the Period ends will be charged the standard Citi PayAll fee of 2% of the amount of the Citi PayAll payment.

    • Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up prior and after the Period will be charged the standard Citi PayAll fee of 2% of the amount of the Citi PayAll payment. This fee will apply to all recurring payments made for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

For more information on Citi PayAll, please refer to the Credit Card Terms and Conditions and Other Important Information and if you are enrolled in a Citi Rewards program, please refer to the Terms and Conditions of the Rewards program you are enrolled in.

    • Not targeted. Recently got a card and it comes with a Variation Notice to indicate there are no fees on CitiPay All until the end of October 2022.

OP if you set up the payments as recurring payments prior to that you’ll incur no fees. You’ll earn full points as well (this was always the case, only change at the moment is zero fees).

The max amount you can send using this feature each month is your credit limit.

      • And this meets minimum spend requirements too? Can't you just send the money to your own bank account and be done with it?
