    It should work well considering the on ears will have better passive noise cancellation than over ear.

      Really? I'm no expert but in my limited experience with on-ears (including an ill-fated audio technica purchase some 15 years ago), I've found them to be more uncomfortable and have less 'isolation' than over-ears.

      Haven't tried many on-ears though so I could well be wrong.

        I agree. It doesn't take much thinking to figure it out.

        A person's ear is not flat, it is uneven and sticks out more towards the back so on-ear headphones would leave a gap towards the front of the ear since it only rests on the outer ear. The earpads seal will be terrible since you have some gaps between the cushion and your ear.

        But the area around a person's ear is much more evenly flat. Not completely flat but much flatter than an ear and flat enough for a soft round cushion to take it's shape are create a good seal. So isolation will definitely be better with over-ear cushions than on-ear cushions.
