We have a couple of elderly family members who like to use the net just to check their TAB bets and email. Found this great deal via Lasoo for an Optus pre-paid USB startup kit. Pretty sure they can also change over to Amaysim once the 1GB is used up too. Postage up to QLD for us is $9.

It appears to be the Huawei E160E. (if the picture on their website is accurate)
.
I think the E160 has a more squared off look to it.
It looks like an Huawei E1762.
Ahh they have two different models shown.
The one you linked definitely is an E160.FWIW, the E160 does 3.6 Mbps and the E1762 does 7.2 (not that it will make a difference with Optus' true speeds).
Great to see Optus savign user's money again.
any expiry for the data to be used?
30 days is pretty standard.
Live Connection might be a better way to go for the rest of us… or maybe Virgin Mobile's broadband…?
Thanks OP..i think you need to add the shipping charges also in the title..
Not really a bargain, but a good deal, DSE had Vodafone dongles for $19, and probably still do.
I posted mainly because of the ongoing costs associated would be lower once switched to Amaysim. I bought the $19 Vodafone one also as we are still waiting for our ADSL to come across but the ongoing recharge with Vodafone is more.
Fair enough mate.
postage to WA $9 for 3
$18 for 650[1gbx50) sticks for
$450 + $153 Delievery to SAThat's an expensive 50gb…

Not too bad if you move locations all the time. You can do all the hefty downloads at a mates or at uni/school. Better yet at the end you can build you're own USB castle when you've used all the data!
For low usage, the DODO Starter will give you 12 months access, at least 250MB month.
Got one for $28 from Bing Lee months ago. Double Punched (incl. Micro) SIM for iPad etc.
$39 at Dick Smith
http://dicksmith.com.au/product/E8726/dodo-broadband-wireles…thanks for this one, I needed around 100mb a month for a failover for an internet based eftpos machine.
This will work beutifully. My next option was a savytel sim that had credit that doesnt expire and 5c per MB. This one is much better
is it possible to unlock?
Yes apparently. Search for it.
This looks like a repeat of the April offer http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68323 - though shipping then was $4 Aus wide
Also please note the old deal was 15 days expiry on the data.
I am guessing this will be the same.
Looks good.
What model USB modem did it come with?
