  • Snow cannons are shyte, its just a glorified soap dispenser at the end of the day.

Slow motion YouTube car detailing videos and FOMO made them popular.

Or if you actually know how to wash and detail a car, you wouldn't not use one

    • I'm a recent convert. I used to use a pump up sprayer upside down shaking the bottle frequently to create foam within the bottle, but a cannon just reduces the effort to get suds to 'stick' to vertical surfaces
      .

  • FYI: the one in OP is pretty shit - that style is poor designed as the "head" is way to heavy, so you will end up threading the neck.

This one is much much better

  • Yeah not a huge fan of snow cannons etc. I bought a karcher years ago and gotta say the wash that you get from it was pretty mediocre.
IMO I think it's more hassle setting up the karcher etc than it is using 3 buckets and some sponges/brushes.

Unless you're someone that washes/polishes the car weekly/regularly then the road build up etc just doesn't clean off as well using a pressure washer as a soapy bucket & sponge job will.

I washed my car this weekend with a snow cone. Looked lovely, beautiful thick layer of foam. Washed it off after leaving it to soak for the prescribed period…

Car still absolutely covered in filth. I have no idea what these are supposed to do but the way it sounds is that they "lift" the dirt from your paintjob leaving it all clean. The reality is that you have to sponge wash the car for any kind of dirt cleaning.

If you're car is dirty then the dirt needs to be agitated. It's that simple.

      its a pre-wash only.

    • It is regularly described as a "Pre-wash". It isn't meant to be the only thing you do (although if you wash regularly and also have ceramic coating, you might be able to get away with just snow foam every other wash).
It is just one part of a multiple step process to give your car a thorough clean.

I just want to shoot the kids with foam (from a distance)

  • I have a pesticide sprayer from bunnings that attaches to the garden hose. Its so much more convenient compared to the getting the karacher out and setting it up and the results are just as good.

I have one of these ones, performance is great! I've also used the bowdens cannon, both are pretty much the same. The thing I like about this cannon is that it comes with adaptors for most pressure washers on the market.

    Good find OP

    • I have one too and a Karcher with a power control thingy. Only issue I have is with the adapter which makes the bottle sit at almost 90 degrees to the gun. Totally possible I'm doing something wrong and would be happy to be pointed in the right direction (pun intended).

      • Ha! Great pun!!! I'm not too sure why its pointing in the wrong direction… my pressure washer allows me to swivel the gun around at any degree, maybe yours does the same? I have a gerni so unsure of how Karcher works.

Would love to help more but I don't have any real answers.

Hopefully someone else knows what to do?

        :)

        • All good. I'll have another look as I'm likely doing something wrong.

Buy grey coloured car. Never need to be washed.

    • +1

Can confirm. I drive a dirty grey car.

*dirty grey car that looks clean

    • I have moss growing on my car.

  • Any other recommendations for good Foam Snow Cannon

To all the comments about peoples cars not being clean after a snow cannon, this is an extra step in the car wash process to help breakdown dirt and prevent it from creating swirls when you wash with your mitt. You’d cover your car in foam, let it dwell, then pressure wash off and do your normal 2 bucket wash for a proper clean. If your car is sealed and only dusty you might get away with just a foam and touchless dry - I’d recommend not drying with a towel if you only foamed as it’s a sure way to get swirls.
