I miss Fast Eddie from Fluidtek. Hope he is doing well.

    • +1

Fast Eddie….. always good for a laugh lol.

  • Any webcam below $30 ish?

      • I bought 2 of these, they're great

      • Bought one. Thanks

      • The $30 Lenovo FHD 300 reviews seem good at a glance.
But after reading a few reviews one said there is a constant hiss from the microphones.
It's got 2 microphones so you would expect a better experience, sadly looks like something was not designed right on the audio side.

Damn paid ~$160 during COVID (along with everyone else I’m guessing)

  • +2

    Decent price for new

There are plenty of C920's on the used market for around $50. I got mine for $25

    • How is it?

      • +2

Pretty much what the reviews say, solid 1080p picture, inbuilt video compression / encoding (I have the older model), decent mic.

    • used market-do you mind share the link?

  • I’ve switched between a few webcams over the COVID WFH times and each of them disappointed me in the quality. The only reason why they look bad is because of poor lighting!

If you think your current webcam looks bad, try and get more direct light to your face and you can see the quality jump significantly. Trust me :)

    • +9

You've convinced me. I'll wait for your OnlyFans.

      • +5

I’m gonna show you the best lighting using a bright rim ring light

    • +1

I saw a review on this camera and they also mentioned even with good lighting, the camera over exposes because it measures the brightest point in the frame.
They showed a neat trick where you light yourself properly, then go into "manual webcam settings" (not sure where this is I think it's not logitech software but on your computer's webcam management area), hold up a blank piece of paper and the camera will achieve "correct exposure" then you lock the exposure at that point by unticking the "Auto exposure" box. This will give you the best video quality.

      • Just for anyone else wondering, this trick could be tried with any budget webcam to see if it improves image quality.

For anyone having trouble finding the webcam settings, it might be accessible from the program you are using (Zoom etc). In a similar way to how you access "printer settings" from Microsoft word etc.

They still sell this webcam for this much? I bought one in like 2014…

  • -6

Just bought the Elgato facecam instead as it does 1080p/60fps. Better value even tho its 2.5x the price.

    • +2

Bit of a silly comparison. A Logitech C922 is a proven solid webcam for skype/teams/zoom/facebook messenger with little/nothing to gain by upgrading to a Elgato facecam utilizing these platforms. Certainly nothing to justify 2.5x the price. The Elgato facecam is clearly targeted at streaming, gaming and content creators.

  • +1

For those that want/need a better 1080p at 60 frames per second for streaming/content creation/work meetings then this other Logitech deal is good for a little more at $115 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/713954

    • USB-C only

      • +1

Almost all modern laptops/computers have USB-C

        • +2

          My ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 doesn't have usb-c.

        • is it possible to buy an adaptor USB C Female to USB A Male? would it work?

          • @nightflight82: Yes to the adaptor and possibly for the would it work.

          • -3

@nightflight82: The quality of the image wont be as good

            • +1

              @congo: Can't tell if trolling…

              • @AEKaBeer: usually there is a disclaimer on usb c female to usb a male adaptors indicating "it will not transmit hdmi vga dp or any other type of video signals"…I guess it would not work… maybe time for a new pc card

Is this a sign that tech prices are coming down? These used to be around $130-$150 during covid.

Logitech Brio finally below $200. Very tempting!
    $191.58 with code PREC2CAUG.

I have been using a c922 pro for a while now and recently compared it to a Razer Kiyo X.
I would honestly say to go for the razer, it can be found for under $60 and has great picture and mic quality.
The logitech is good but its a 2016 model and very dated now, the razer is a lot better value imo.

  • How does this compare to the StreamCam?

  • Bought my c922 during covid for $100. Great camera. if you're WFH a lot I'd recommend this over the stock dashcam easily.

  • I have one of these, and I paid considerably more too. Absolutely fantastic device.

  • Good cam. Microphone is terrible though.

  • Don't know about these newer models. Still pretty happy with my C910. Maybe because C910 has 5pm and Carl Zeiss Tessar lenses vs C920/C922 3pm glass.

  • Bought one in May for $119 for video calls. Everyone noticed a big difference in video quality compared to my laptop's (new ThinkPad T14s) camera. I also added a $10 privacy shutter. If it's for "work" it's tax-deductible as well.

  • Honestly, if you're not in a client facing role, I don't really see the point of buying an external webcam when the laptop's camera is more than sufficient for internal meetings. Alternatively, I'm sure that you can just use an old smartphone's camera as a webcam if you really need better picture quality.

    • +1

I used Droidcam for a while with an Android phone, works really well on Linux and Windows. Now I use a laptop with an external screen and the laptop's camera always gets me at a bad angle :-)

  • wow that is 8 dollars cheaper than I paid at ebgames in 2019 for 98 bucks.
