Son wants a Wireless Headset with Microphone for gaming on a PC. PC doesn't have bluetooth if that makes any difference.
Would like to spend $100 or less.
Had a quick Google search and HyperX Cloud Stinger Core DTS Wireless Gaming Headset & Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset are available.
Any opinions on the above or recommendations on what else I should consider.

Not this - it is a productivity (eg. WFH) headset, not a gaming headset. It would technically work to some degree, but I can guarantee it is not what your son is after.

I suppose, I'm not familiar with either, so was thinking that battery life and other quirks are of importance.

Mainly the sound - for a gaming headset, accurate, directional sound is very important (eg. is the opponent behind me, on the left or right, etc), so they are set up for that. There will be other differences as well.
Definitely go the HyperX out of those two.

He usually plays Minecraft or Roblox and chats with this friends so it doesn't really matter, but for futureproofing, the gaming one sounds like the way to go.
The HyperX would do fine for $79 at Amazon.
