this is just a repost right? Same promo as last year, cant claim it again with same card

    • Are we confirming we can't do it again if it was done last year?

  • +4

    Awesome.

Finally a deal where existing customers get looked after!

  • yay free money! Thanks TA

  • Thanks op. Worked well. Easy $15 credit.

  • +8

Westpac is the worse bank in Australia

    • +38

Is that because you don't have an eligible card :)

      • +23

haha good one. That would be incorrect :) I do have one reluctantly.

        Reasons:

        • Why I say they are the worse is because I have one of their business accounts and they are just money hungry on a different level

        • Get charged for depositing money, get charged for transferring money, get charge for simply every transactions possible. I would leave but currently contracted to use them so I can't

        • There user interface is probably one of the worse, not as bad as BOQ but they don't even have Osko in some of their accounts

        • Charging dead people fees and overcharging fees is already old news everyone knows

        • This probably applies to all the banks but they are just well known for dodgy insurance products and breaching money laundering rules and admitted to doing so because they know the fine was much cheaper than the profits. Good business strategy though because no one individual ever gets in trouble or need to take responsibility.

        • +7

That sounds like NAB as well… also, don't forget what Westpac did to get fined $1.3 billion for not complying with Anti - Money Laundering laws. I know it's a bit older news, but can't be forgotten.

          • @kiriakoz: Honestly never thought I’d see the day westpac got fined so badly for breaching that.
Thought it was mostly comm bank before that

        • +3

LOL if you think the user interface on the Westpac mobile app is bad … you should try ANZ … you can't even create a future dated payment on the ANZ app it's that bad …

          • +2

@nathanos: sounds like a typical multi-billion dollar profit organisation haha

        • No wonder their stock price is going down hill since 2015…

          • +1

@DealWatcher27: that's a different ball game but pretty much once you have a banking licence you can't really make a loss if you're not doing dodgy stuff

borrow from RBA at cheap and then lend out 20% credit card or few % over as a loan can't lose

            most movers advantage / gangsters

        • -1

Charging dead people fees and overcharging fees is already old news everyone knows

do you think a bank representative sits there every month and conciously decides to check the living status of every customer and purposely bills them
or do you think maybe its all automated

This probably applies to all the banks but they are just well known for dodgy insurance products and breaching money laundering rules and admitted to doing so because they know the fine was much cheaper than the profits. Good business strategy though because no one individual ever gets in trouble or need to take responsibility.

if it applies to all banks. why is Westpac being singled out

the AML stuff was also an automated oversight

And none of this has any real weight why they are "the worst" bank.

the first 2 points relating to fees is valid from a end customer perspective, but thats about it
But they are a business, not a charity, and every other bank is about the same

Business banking is a core business unit where all the banks make the most money
the retail arm is about deposits, mortgages and brand recognition/perception. The deposit accounts cost them to pay interest (used to make loans and partially forced by capital ratios to maintain)
So they can only milk money from institutions

and if u care about interface, all the banks incl Commbank all have their quirks. No interface will make everybody happy due to differring priorities

All this stuff gets A/B tested

    • +7

      Trick question, they all bad.

    • +1

      What’s your story?

Better than 1980s bank like ANZ and HSBC?

      • +1

not enough time to tell it… end in tears

      • +7

        ANZ is the worst

        • +2

          share the hate please

          you'll feel better

          • @Poor Ass: Oh don't ask me to remember those nightmares. I wonder how much they outsourced overseas to cut costs.

          • +3

@Poor Ass: their credit card application process is horrendous to name one

        • I’d agree. Out of all, worst experiences (multiple) with anz. Probably say nab is one of the better ones.

        • +1

anz and their mortgage brokers are crooks and thieves, the worst, i agree, don't trust them

          • +1

@MrBillions: I think all those words are synonyms with mortgage brokers lol

        • Churn the card :D

    • +1

      Agree.

    • +2

@Poor Ass… "Westpac is the worse bank in Australia"… nah.. too subjective…

With the Big 4, it's a race to the bottom with dumb pre-scripted web-bots, voice activated response commands that cannot comprehend Received Standard English and little to no human contact except in the branches (only just). Products and services providing less benefit and costing more.

Good luck picking the best out this brave new world of banking.

      • +1

Plus all banks are slowly decommissioning thousands of ATMs,
and getting ready for the digital payment / CBDCs to be unleashed.

Keep using ca$h,….to hold onto some last, remaining freedoms.

    • Depends from what perspective… They've had solid dividend performance over the years

  • Got it last time with HSBC mastercard.

  • +1

    and Mastercard Standard cardholder

What is a standard card holder? Tried with my debit card and got an 'Oops something went wrong' message.

    • +1

Has to be one of those 4 cards on the picture on the link. My CC got it last time but couldn't redeem the offer twice for the same card. Was hoping it was a new promo

Edit: Mastercard Standard is a type of Westpac Credit Card

      • Guess whose card just got lost/stolen:)

        • Lmao, reckon that would work? I'll give it a go and report back!

    • +7

I believe this only works with eligible credit cards (not debit cards).

      • +1

        Ok thanks @nicholasv and @TA 😉

  • Niceeeee!

  • +14

Sorry, you have exceeded the maximum quantity of 1 allowed for this product

    • Same here

    • Same mate

    • +2

Had the same error even though I've never applied for this before. There's a support email, so I emailed them the CC details and they replied back with a link where I was able to activate the promo.

      • Sent them few emails too as I had Commbank and Westpac card offers but never received a response.

  • +1

What about people who neither have prime nor new to prime?

  • +1

Does this work if your card is already the default payment method?

e.g. Can I remove it, and add it again to get the promo? I have never claimed this promo before seeing this deal.

  • Thanks!

  • Cheers op

  • Thanks OP Done

  • +1

Does it need to be Westpac's mastercard? If yes, has anyone tried using fake cc generator to make it work?

    • +1

It validates it as a Westpac mastercard (including name and email). Then it needs to be added to your Amazon account including CVC before you get the credit.

      So fake cc won't work.

    • +1

has anyone tried using fake cc generator to make it work?

It's not 2000 anymore, they can verify card details automatically.

  • Just confirming this only works on Amazon.com.au not Amazon.com?

  • +1

is this just for credit cards or debit cards?

    • +1

      People… read!

  • +1

Commbank.. what the hell are you doing… err

    • +2

Combank offered this a couple of months ago.

That being said, it's a Mastercard promo.

So I activated this previously with a Westpac card. Then tried again with the CBA promo.

Neither CBA or Amazon could give a stuff that it didn't work. No T&Cs to say you can't get the promo more than once on different cards. But it doesn't work, and Amazon say ask CBA, CBA say ask Amazon.

  • Thanks OP. Free $15.

Also agree with above comments. Westpac is hands down the worst bank. Shit web and app UI, terrible customer service and just downright useless at what they do: https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/banking/banking-boa…

    • Maybe but they gave me a Platinum Mastercard with some benefits for zero cost per year.

      Not bad! Recommended.

The phone app is OK, does the job. I do my banking elsewhere.

      • How did you get the platinum MasterCard for free?

        • Short story. They offered it to me.

Long story, I originally had a free Virgin normal credit card ages ago. They were taken over by Westpac and they kept the “free” terms.

Over the years they have asked me to switch cards from Visa to Mastercard and now Platinum.

Why not just call and ask them? They do have a free product.

  • +2

Only just got the 115k velocity points from signing up my westpac card, $10 cash back on ubereats a couple of weeks back and now this.

This card is definitely paying for itself. Thanks TA!

  • +2

I guess Westpac is doing this to compensate for their god awful service…

  • +3

bit risky going onto a link/site and punching your credit card in in my view

how to know this is leggit?

    • +3

      It’s a subdomain of mastercard.com, so I think you’re OK.

On second thoughts, give them your card details, and they’ll leggit

      • +1

I was concerned too - they don’t get your cvv number if that’s any consolation, and also I like a lot of others here have claimed successfully and linked appropriately to amazon without any suspicious pop ups so we can all validate that this offer is legit

      • +2

In today's day and age with so much scamming this process doesn't seem right

  • Thanks, was able to use my supp card but it failed with the main one (already claimed)

  • Thanks, you just gifted me $15 free Money.

  • Amazon OTP keeps saying invalid, anyone know why?

    • You used this last year, or another MasterCard based card at some stage

Ie. I got this offer with Westpac and CBA. Worked for westpac, but then didn't for CBA card.

      Also, case sensitive maybe

  • Thanks heaps, got my $15 credit too!!!

  • Thanks, free $s.

  • +1

    Just a heads up…

I tried this twice on my MasterCard debit and managed to security lock my account. Now I have to call the bank.

    • Just a thought did you possibly have a VPN enabled and set to another country?

  • I've tried to add 2 of my Westpac Mastercards but to no avail. I'm going to guess this is because I'm currently on a trial subscription of Prime and not a paid subscription.

  • My mistake, I have money IN the bank, not debt TO the bank so my westpac mastercard gives me a "Something went wrong. Looks like the card number you entered is not eligible for this benefit."

  • Thanks OP! Free money.

It works even if you pay Amazon yearly!

  • How long does it take to receive the credit? Can you nominate a westpac card, and then change it to a different card after getting the credit?

    • Credit was applied instantly, havent tried changing the card but technically its only setting it as your default payment method. Could still select a different payment method when you go to checkout on your next purchase.

  • Did anyone else get this?
"Your card has been declined for an unknown reason."

    • Yes I got on my cancelled Westpac Card.

  • Thanks OP! $15 credit applied. Love free money!

  • +1

i did this before with westpac, so does that mean i can try this again and if so and it works then i get $15 credit

plus isn't it better value getting 3 months free than $15 credit?

  • "Sorry, you have exceeded the maximum quantity of 1 allowed for this product"
    WTF?

  • Thanks!!

  • So guys… is there any good banking service out there?

  • Sorry, you have exceeded the maximum quantity of 1 allowed for this product

  • @TA - when does this promotion ends?

  • +3

Sorry, you have exceeded the maximum quantity of 1 allowed for this product.
With a valid credit card. Some have posted above that they were given a different URL that worked for them, care to share? I have emailed but no response yet.

  • THANK YOU

  • Brilliant! thank you
