  • I don't need a new TV for at least 9 months when I move into a new house.

Do I buy the TCL C825 75" now anyway and store until then? Or just wait and hope pricing comes down over time anyway/Black Friday deals etc?

        • +2

Nah, there's going to be a 51% off deal. wait 3 weeks.

Seriously if you're moving in 3 weeks, there are some good deals here.

  • Is there a better 55" panel than the C825 that i can buy right now? Dont care about the software as i'll be using it with an Apple TV.

  • Anyone used the 10% extra gift cards? Thinking of loading up them to grab a TV, just don't like will need to wait 24 hours to use them, won't be happy if the TV is out of stock by then

    • I did… regetably - although that has nothing to do with TCN. I went to Myer Pacific Fair today and saw the TV I wanted (Bravia 55in - nothing fancy, which suits us). I bought gift cards (3 x $250) from TCN as that meant I got 10% off for their Father's Day deal (vs 10% extra with Myer direct). Bought cards at 16:39 and had them in my inbox at 16:41. Super impressed with the TCN! Went back to Myer to buy TV and the sales associate I had spoken to earlier decided to divulge that the TV's had been on display for "2 years". This is when I regretted buying the gift cards as they cannot be refunded. I asked if there was any non-display stock anywhere in Oz and there wasn't. Even at 50% off (plus the $75 I saved buying gift cards) I would never have bought a TV with 2yrs daily use. I asked if anything else could be done with price or with additional warranty but buddy said no. I asked him what the release date was of the KD55X80J and he said it was actually sometime in 2021 - so "only" 18-20mth daily use. I bought it anyway as I couldn't refund gift cards, and I am not stoked. Hope it lasts despite it's high use.

      • unfortunate experience there. I think the warranty would of still started from the purchase date right? Sony wouldn't know it's had 2 years use?

        • Yes, you're correct - Myer Man said warranty will start from purchase date, which is a small consolation. But as folks who watch very little TV, and more importantly are opposed to unnecessary consumerism, we like our TV's to last at least 6-8 years. Hopefully we still get that out of this one!

  • Wish I'd known they had to travel upright before I bought my last 4….weirdly all seem ok

  • +2

Myer Marion has 50% off to. LG C1 65" OLED $1850

    • New or demo?

    • -1

Do you have a link ??

  • Missed 85" TVs sadge…

  • C825 is a great telly for gaming. Low input lag, HDMI 2.1 on 2 of its 4 HDMI ports allowing for 4K 120Hz and VRR. It doesn't have many local dimming zones but it can still produce some inky blacks with or without local dimming. It does have some pretty bad blooming if you do decide to use the local dimming feature but that affects even the highest end mini LED TVs and it's only noticeable in dark scenes. Also I like that it's a Google TV. The soundbar that comes attached to the TV is also surprisingly good and blows away any conventional TV speaker.

  • C825 or Sony X90J?

    What's TCLs warranty like?

    • Same price? Probably the sony

      • Ok. Sony marginally more expensive on sale but not a deal breaker. Will wait.

LG G1 floor stock going for $4k for the 77

      • Same price? Probably the sony

        Couldn't find X90J same price

  • Order refunded by force. I ordered an 85" TV within 30 mins of this being posted.

    Not impressed, Myer.

    • Not impressed, Myer.

Yeah their web site stock level is not really accurate

      • I just managed to order the 75 inch TCL c725 for 1K + delivery. Let's see if this one sticks.

        • Wasn't it OOS a while back?

          • @Meovel: Yes it was but by some miracle one appeared in stock and I bought it. Went straight back to OOS after that.

Who knows what's going on with Myer inventory.

  • +2

C825 appears to be the only worthy model left.
Wouldn't piss on a Hisense if it was on fire.

    • +4

Probably good advice to never piss on a potential electrical fire.

  • What about Hisense U8G? Is it any good?

  • C825 75" OOS, damn

    • Even though I don't need a new TV, I would have pounced on the 55" for 1k.

  • Is the c725 50inch ,half decent for a bedroom tv hooked up with a Google tv box or a shield ,I'm assuming the app speed ain't the best ,but looking at this more than the eko or Aldi tvs or woolies tvs similar price ish!

    • +1

I got the 50C725 and today hung it in our bedroom, connected to internet, the missus & I are very happy with it.

The picture is great. It already had Netflix installed and is streaming perfectly You can install more apps from the Google Play store.
I tested streaming some 4k(2160p) movies from my Plex server and it played 4k video & 5.1 HD audio flawlessly.
The sound is actually better than i was expecting.

The 50C725 includes 3 years 'In Home Service', the Eko or Aldi TV's only have 1 year warranty, and i really doubt the sound quality would be any where near as good as the 50C725.

For $500, i don't think anything from Aldi or Big W can beat this TV.

      • Thanks for the awesome feedback!

    • Theycallmexyz has already answered your question, but you may look at a few reviews from other Aussie buyers.

On productreview.com.au the C725 series has seven 1 and 2 ratings, and seven 4 and 5 ratings (out of 5) so definitely mixed results.

      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/tcl-c725-series

The problem that has been mentioned by several people is the slow processor and lip sync issues.

A few of the negative reviews mentioned that TCL do not honour their warranty, which is no good (if true) because another person complained that because the bought it as a clearance item (or something like that) they couldn't replace or refund it.

But, at $499 (especially if you can pick it up in Melbourne instead of paying the $75 delivery fee) it's almost a shame NOT to buy it, even as a spare TV.

Just keep in mind that (I think it was) Betta have these at $699 more expensive but replaceable (and I think they would probably reduce that given this Myer deal).

Anyway, I've been looking at this for a couple of days now, thinking of buying it for someone, but the mixed reviews (and TCL reputation in general) keep me from pulling the trigger.

I'm not trying to say if it's good or bad, just sharing some info I found while I was researching this TV.

      • P.S. the Betta deal is gone now, but JB HiFi have the TCL P735 50" 4K Ultra HD AI LED LCD Google TV [2022] for $695

Dang missed out. Which retailer can price match?

  • Has anyone got past we are preparing your order yet for online orders. Thanks

    • +1

Mine is stuck at ‘we are preparing your order’ - I’m not feeling good about it. Orders I’ve placed with Myer since then have already been processed and dispatched 😭

      • I got message it’s going to be delivered by capital. They’re pretty good at delivering.

  • +1

For anyone in Sydney still looking, Parramatta Myer still have 1 x 65 inch LG C1 and 1 x 65 inch Sony A80J

    • At what price ? is the LG new stock ? or display ?

      • Only ex-display stock left. The LG is around $1,850, Sony is around $2,050

        • Awww.. ex-display model..
          Thanks anyways.

  • So I received the 75 inch TCL c725 yesterday. Plugged it in switched it on. 2 hours later a permanent discoloured column appeared in the middle of the screen.

I really wanted to like TCL as I have their phone which is quite good. Shame.

    • Plugged it in switched it on. 2 hours later a permanent discoloured column appeared in the middle of the screen.

That is why I am a bit worry about their QC.

      • Ended up with a refund i.e. nothing but wasted time after 2 attempts to buy a TCL TV. The universe is telling me to stay away from TCL.

        • +1

Buy LG or Samsung TVs, if you can afford a bit more, they're not made in China.

It's worth it in the long run, especially with Samsung's excellent TV support (next working day at your home).

          • @BooYa: Yeah best to start breaking the habit of buying stuff from there just because it's cheap - indirectly funding the weapons that are potentially going to be used against us.

  • Typing in OLED search on myer website brought up pages of ladies boots.

  • 'do not lay TV's flat during transport, they must be transported upright'
This is so true for all tv below 40 inch those above you can lay it flat

    • I think that is about the old Plasma.
