Just don't. Don't throw your money into landfill . These cheaper drones are so hard to control even in a light breeze.

    • any good alternatives?

most good drones are like really expensive eg DJI

The DJI Tello is the cheapest drone that DJI offers.

It is DJI branded but not DJI quality, since it was manufactured by a Shenzhen based company called Ryze Robotics. Since it was a relatively popular model sold worldwide it should be easy to source additional parts like props and batteries for it.

Syma is also a popular brand for beginner flyers.

You can get a refurbished DJI mavic mini (fly more combo) from Amazon with a 1 year warranty for $449

Thats great but…..is over 8 times more expensive that the posted device. Hardly a comparison.

@Borg: Depends what you want to do with it but yes it's not cheap :/

  • offers a huge 8 minutes of flying time

Seems like this is no better than those indoor quadcopters, and I imagine this would be tough to control outdoors

    This or the new Avata?

Just kidding. Seriously, don’t waste your money on these sorts of cheap drones.

Cheapies can be great fun and a way to learn how to fly Quads before splashing out but not this one!

The main thing before buying anything is to check that there are plenty of spare parts available e.g. Propellers, Batteries (grab a few) & Motors as they will required at some point. Lots of stuff & reviews/recommendations online for all price ranges and comes down to what you want it for & budget.

Just do it properly and get a DJI.

I managed to get a Mini SE fly more for $499 by haggling hard at JB. YMMV.

  • get the DJI mini 2 for $719 instead while it's still on sale at all time low

  • We can hardly compare a $500 or $719 DJI to the $54.99 drone that the OP was asking about. Kind of like recommending a Porsche to somebody asking about a Toyota Corolla :-). There are semi decent "entry level" drones for $100 to $200 mark and probably more what the OP is asking about?

  • wouldnt bother..
