    • +2

      From the Critical Information Summary:

      Changing or cancelling your plan
There are no Early Termination Charges if you cancel your plan.

If you cancel your plan within 24 months of connecting you will need to return your 5G modem to us in good working order within 21 days. We will provide you with a prepaid eParcel consignment ID to return the device. Good working order means returning the modem as new with only minor signs of wear and including all original equipment (e.g power cable). If you do not return your modem or it is not returned in good working order, we will charge you for the remaining cost of the modem, which is $29 multiplied by months remaining in the first 24 months e.g. if you leave after 20 months you would pay $29 x 4 (the number of remaining months), at total of $136.

  • 5G Home Internet is not available at your address

    • Yeah not available at my address yet I have 5G on my phone…makes perfect sense.

      • They have a limited number of connections per postcode, presumably to keep the speeds up.

        • assume you could get this to an available address then just move it to any address to use

          • +1

@Irishness: Apparently it can tell if the 5g tower isn’t in the postcode you signed up with and throttles you down to 1mbps.

      • 5g home internet uses a different band to 5g mobile. There are specific antennas that are installed on the towers for 5g home internet.

    • Ditto. Fail.

    • no surprise their systems are such a mess, hopefully you get for free

I have this and found service has been quite good. Normally 500-600mbps and can sometimes sustain >1gbps through wifi . Obviously depends on 5g reception but shows they’re not massively over subscribing… yet.

Downside is telstra billing is a bit kooky. Meant to get a free month then at start of month 2 says bill is overdue and trying to include a late fee. Exact same thing happened to a mate also signing up. Not a big deal if you can leave an online chat window open while you sort it with the telstra rep.

    • +1

Same, first bill was supposed to be $0. Got $85 bill. Had to reach out the chat support, they sorted it. However, I fully expect the late fee next month.

  • +1

    Can I cancel and reconnect…get 50k points ?

  • +1

Since telstra didn't honor me telstra plus joining bonus during their 5G network trial on a prepaid $30 starter kit. There have even been claims here boost starter kit prepaid have gotten that signup bonus of telstra plus.

They claimed i needed to pay them to get telstra plus (says otherwise on their website, that i just needed telstra number, and telstra ID to get telstra plus).

They CS was BS no help at all, complaint officer didnt do anything other than saying he is unsure or whatever, telstra gave no compensation telstra points or anything else.
So i am staying steer far far away from direct telstra.

people already suggesting here telstra charging even for the first month.

So better go with optus if you really want unlimited speeds, otherwise if happy with capped speeds go with TPG/iinet/ vodafone etc.

  • +2

I never got the 50K Telstra Plus points for signing up the $1 new NBN service, so I wouldn't hold your breath on this one.

  • Can’t seem to apply a valid address for this promotion!

  • +1

Thanks op! Signed up as I have a 5G tower near my house. Phone gets 600 down often so this will be much better than my HFC NBN cap of 50mb down and 5mb up. Cheaper too.

With the Telstra points - ALWAYS take screenshots of it being listed with your order. I had them not give me 50,000 in the past for signing up to direct debit but I just launched a chat and sent the screenshots and they gave them to me.

  • can you select the activation date?

  • What’s it like for P2P? And multiple connections?

    • Default settings, p2p won't go. Unsure about multiple connections, do you mean as a home router?

      • Boo, who doesn’t let P2P go through. Yes home connection without connecting a router of my own.

        • It’s driving me bonkers. The signal spreads throughout the house, but I was having issues streaming, now ironically the Telstra tv is chucking a fit

          • +1

@DemocracyManifest: I decided not to go with it, as good as the speeds may be, so many bad comments about connections, throttling, dropouts, who needs that.

  • I signed up with 5G on the previous bargain. Performance was great for a while then all of a sudden the connection got choppy and WFH virtual desktop was losing connection like every 15min and reconnecting. Initially raised issue with Telstra but never got fixed. Signed up with NBN and now working fine. the cancellation process was painful.Telstra staff would argue that there is a cancellation fee of about $500 which I had to show them the PDS to waive the cancellation fee. And getting a prepaid parcel to return the 5G modem was more painful because they had no clue and I had to speak with about 5 different staff to have it sent. They've sent a pouch that is too small to fit the modem and when later queried they've advised me to use the label only. Loved it until the connection got poor and cancellation was a bloody nightmare and their staff a clueless oafs.

  • Ooof credit check required. Pass

5G Home Internet is not available at your address
Why is this? Well, because either Telstra 5G Home Internet is not yet in your area, or it is in your area but there’s not enough capacity for your address to get the best 5G Home Internet experience.

If you want fast, reliable internet now, check out our nbn plans or mobile broadband options.

    • surprising enough i get this same stupid info when i enter my address on OPTUS and TELSTRA.
In reality I get full on 5G signal at home, with telstra as much as 700 Mbps. Optus around 300-400 Mbps

Vodafone is only one that doesnt have problem with my address, and has least speeds max is ~330 Mbps

  • Mine errored out when it got to DD but order is submitted, no confirmation email yet…if it goes through without DD that would be awesome but I doubt it very much

  • Those who signed up, did they actually do the credit check?

    • I filled it in but who knows. Seems more like a honesty policy

  • sigh
Just put an order in and got the CIS and whatnot emailed to me along with an order/billing estimate for the first month.

    Monthly charge of $85
    Credit -$82.17
    Total estimated minimum cost $2.83

Like seriously.. how messed up is their system to even miscalculate FIRST MONTH FREE

Looking forward to speaking to billing…. again! /s

    • +2

Note, if you’ve received a special offer or discount, it won’t be outlined in the CIS

It mentions this a few times throughout their emails, the estimate in those order emails is not accurate obviously. Not saying Telstra won't screw up, they can and will, but I don't think you have to read into the CIS too much. I've received no bill thus far and have been connected a few days

Sidenote: I got connected on August 30, my home address actually wasn't available so I put a work address then set it up at home anyway. I get about 350/10mbps at home, I have no real use for it just wanted the 50k points and can easily return the modem without hassle, the 50k points popped up 4 days after I got connected

      • Yeah, I'm not worried about it, it's just a real hassle if I do end up getting charged.

    • So quick to send out that first bill aren't they..
The order was only finalised a few days ago.
And wouldn't you know it, they're asking me to pay $2.83..

  • Anyone having issues with torrents? Mine aren't connecting of course at all, whirlpool forums state they are throttled but weird that mine are basically completely stalled

    • Changing DNS helped, changing settings inside the router itself caused WWIV

  • ref shopback ref "Sim Only Plan, Tablet Plan, Mobile Broadband and Gaming" so will you still get $15 on this promo if you cancel it after 30 days?

  • anyone know if you can place two separate orders in different names for the same address?

    • You are associated shouldn’t you know? 🤣

      • +1

im not for many years now but dont know how to be unassociated with Telstra . website wont let me un check it. it says "You are associated with this store. You must check the checkbox before commenting."

        • Probs contact mods

        • The answer to your question is it will go through, even for the same person, as its not NBN

  • Anyone who signed up got bonus points?

    • Still waiting as well.
Telstra bot says to wait 14 days for bonus points to be applied before chasing it up.
I've got a few more days to go.

    • Still waiting. Saw someone earlier got it after 4 days…

      • So apparently my order is still in progress, even though I've already received the modem and set it up and used it..
Once my order has been completed, then I should get the points.

  • requested to have it delivered to a different address but got an email asking me to enter my employment details before order was approved i guess i had to pass a credit check

  • are you allowed to postpone the connection/delivery date if one places an order on the last day 30th sept and still get the 50k bonus points? do star track deliver on weekends?

    • You are asking how long is a piece of string dude
