Be careful. Clicking on the link from OP goes to the third party seller that just launched. The Amazon AU listing is just below the just launched third party store

Here’s a more direct link to the ship and sold by Amazon AU

Edit: all good, OP has fixed it

Is it better than the Xiaomi 4 or 4 Pro?

    • Second this

      • +1

We still wants the answer, precious

        • +1

          What. Is. Answer.. PRECIOUS

          • +3

@Andoes: Filthy little hobbitses won't tell us

    • Who on earth would be able to answer this reliably? The Xiaomi 4 and 4 Pro have negative ion generators, which produce ozone.

      • The ion generator is at least off by default from what I remember.

      • +1

Just look at the specs for cadr, noise and wattage. Not that hard.

    • +1

      Yes

  • Can a kind person please explain to me how this cashback business works? $100 is a lot.

    • +1
    • +1

You register the product online at Phillips and upload a copy of your receipt and they will deposit the $100 to your nominated bank account.

      • Is there a limit to the number of times you can claim cashback? I can't see any maximum in the T&Cs.

        • +2

I have claimed 3 so far with no issues.

        • +3

The max is 5 claims per person.

    • +2

Fill on online forum or send them somthing via snail mail - provide bank details, get 100 deposited in your account.

This works on the fact that some people won't do it/ will forget to do it by the time they get it.

    • You need to go to the promotions link in Philips website. Register your product.. fill in a form for cashback and give receipt photo and your bank account details.. Then you will get your $100 in you account. Takes around 3 weeks for the whole thing to complete.

Man it's a pain people associated with amazon can't upvote. This is a good deal! - even better with employee discount. That said my discount limit is almost extinguished!

    • +1

Do employee discounts extend to friends? ;)

      • friends with benefits?

      • +1

Only if I buy it for them, and even then it's a pretty small limited discount. Wish they would remove the limit though! (Is only for items sold by Amazon au too)

Pretty handy though as I usually buy things already on special.

Bought the 3000i this morning from Amazon for $449, supplied by BestBuy Store AU.

Didn't realise until after checkout that it won't arrive until "27 Sep - 4 Oct". Promotion deadline is Oct 9, cutting it fine.

    • +2

You may want to check the terms and conditions on the sale - "BestBuy Store AU" may not be a valid retailer for the purposes of this promotion. Though I guess it depends what you invoice says (it may still be an Amazon invoice)

      • Thanks. I skimmed Phillips' T&Cs and saw nothing about purchasing from specific retailers.

  • How is this compare to the 2000 beside smaller ? Same rrp https://amzn.asia/d/gjYw3pD

    • It uses different filters but honestly I think it’s mostly that it’s not ‘app connected’ and just significantly less obtrusive. The 2000 is a big unit in comparison.

      • Thank you and brought the 2000i , because no cash back on 2000.

    • +2

Its "smarter" and the filter lasts 3 years compared to 1. The i series are much better.

  • +1

Has anyone used this in an apartment that gets dusty? I'm wondering if it helps minimise the dust that settles on surfaces.

    • +1

My situation, hoping it will help. Maybe someone can confirm

    • +5

Bought mine in the last deal. Yes, it reduces dust. When it detects it (eg if you lift up a blanket to set it) it goes full power, so it certainly works.

For those wondering about cash back, I received mine into my account about 3 weeks after lodging the claim. Makes sense to reduce the risk of returns.

      • Thanks for that info! I think I'll give it a go too!

    • Practically speaking, it won't make any real difference. Your air will be cleaner, but you will still have to do lots of regular vacuuming and dusting. Dust bunnies will still be there.

You can open up your air purifier and check your filter to see how much visible dust is gathered there — I do this every 2-3 months. There's usually some dust that I can vacuum off, but it's not a whole lot — literally just a few strings/strands of dust.

    • +2

I have the 800i and from my experience it reduces surface dust by like 10-20-% but it is really good in removing room odor (or preventing one) and also improves the air quality in a room. When I clean my filters every 2 months, there's usually heaps of dust on them.

  • Missed out on the last deal. Bought one. Many thanks

  • Got one too. Thanks for posting this! Looks like a great deal.

  • Can anyone who has this device comment on the noise levels, specifically in sleep mode? Oh and roughly how long the filters last?

    • +1

I received mine a few days ago and in sleep mode it is barely audible.

      • Thanks! Will keep an eye out for future sales =)

    • +1

With regular cleaning of the filters, they will last roughly 3 years – from what people have mentioned.

      • Thanks!

    • The thing you about air purifiers is that if you want them to do their job (clean the air), they have to be noisy because the fans have to run at a decently high speed. When you put the air purifier in auto or night mode, it does practically no filtering because the fan is spinning so slowly.

It's simple physics — that's all an air purifier is, it's a big fan that forces air through a HEPA filter. With some electronics and sensors (usually very cheap ones that don't have very good sensitivity) thrown in.

At the minimum, you should be manually running the air purifier at a low-medium speed which is equivalent to having a small-medium desk fan running. It'll be like white noise in the background. Most people get used to this pretty quickly so it shouldn't be an issue for sleeping.

I wouldn't recommend using night/quiet mode on air purifiers, it's pointless.

      • Are these suppose to be on 24/7 or just a couple hours a day, I've been having mine on 24/7 and don't know if I really should be doing that, surely that would degrade the filter much faster? I don't really know much about these.

        • What are you using the air purifier for? That will determine how often you need to run it. I'm actually really surprised there are so many people buying air purifiers, as their use case IMHO is very specialised.

For example, I use an air purifier to reduce the amount of potential viral particles (including COVID) in the air whenever I open my apartment front door — my building's common area has zero ventilation and no windows, everything is extremely stuffy and the air remains stale/stagnant. I also use an air purifier in my bedroom so I can sleep better at night (to help clear out pollen and reduce my allergy symptoms). Finally, my air purifiers are an insurance for bushfire season and other heavy pollution when the air is thick with smoke particles.

So I tend to run my air purifiers only part of the time — all night when I'm sleeping, and a few hours during the day as needed. I never use the auto mode as it is mostly useless on consumer grade air purifiers (fan runs waaaay too slow) — I always set the fan to either medium or high speed so that the HEPA filter can actually do its job.

I generally don't see the point of running an air purifier 24/7 in a home setting — it's a different story if it's a hospital or a nursing home, for example.

If you're trying to protect against COVID or viral particles, ventilation is key — open all the windows you can and get lots of fresh air. In this scenario, an air purifier is there mainly as a backup for cases where you're unable to get sufficient ventilation.

Another potential scenario is if a family/household member is sick with COVID, in which case running air purifiers might help if isolating from the rest of the household isn't possible. The air purifiers will reduce the amount of potential virus particles in the air (especially in rooms/spaces that can't get proper ventilation) and may prevent other household members getting sick (but this is not guaranteed).

Another common use case is if you do lots of oily cooking that produces lots of smoke in the kitchen, but in that case you're really better off just getting a proper rangehood that is vented to the outside. You would only run the air purifier while cooking though, not 24/7.

I also sometimes run my air purifier when I'm 3D printing things — the jury is still out on whether printing materials such as PLA or PETG actually produces hazardous particles in the air, but I'd rather err on the safe side.

An air purifier is also fantastic for quickly getting rid of noxious odours, e.g. if you've been cleaning things with Glen 20 or some other disinfectant. Works brilliantly for that, all you need is to run it for 10-15 mins at full blast.

I hope that helps to clarify things. Again, I don't see a use case for the majority of people — it simply doesn't make sense to run an air purifier 24/7 at home. Especially if you leave it on auto mode, which most of the time does nothing, because the cheap consumer-grade sensors aren't sensitive enough to detect most particles anyway.

Thanks OP just grabbed one, couldn’t say no at that price.

    I see $499 now

  • I got it in time for $354.17

  • Same, I see it for $499 now

  • It seems the party is over now. Great deal. Now I need more Amazon gift card deals from ShopBack.

  • $499 showing?

  • I found it cheaper at $349. Just search that model on Amazon.

    • You will have to double check whether the store you bought from is eligible for cashback.

      • I managed to buy it for $349. yes, it's eligible. Funny thing, now that I click on the link, the price has gone back to $469.

        • Are you sure it's not sold by Sssney Port? I almost got tricked into that one.

I mean, still a great price at $349, but may not be eligible for the $100 cash back (YMMV).

          • +2

@jjjaar: Bugger! It's sold by a third party. I just cancelled the order. Thanks!

            • @hero000: No, all good. I was rushing to buy too but then noticed it was 349 not 355 and checked properly.

Thankfully though 355 still is a decent price for the product so probably would have kept it anyway 😂

  • Thanks OP, got it $355

  • thanks! i think i got it just before it went out of stock. The estimated delivery is Sep 8-21.

  • +1

    Cadr 380m³ at 54dB. Can deliver 6ACH for a room 26m² x 2.4m high at a noise level of 54dB (medium traffic).

  • Dammit - I just hit refresh and the price is now $499!

  • hey guys, do these actually reduce dust sitting on furniture at home ?

If anyone with iPhone has trouble syncing to the device on WiFi, disable your mobile data when trying to pair. it's a firmware bug.

Where do people place these in their home? I’ve ordered one and am tossing up whether to put it in our bedroom or our living/dining/kitchen area (2 bed apartment)

    • bedroom for me

    • Mine will go in our living/dining area, might get another couple next sale for our bedrooms if I like it

    • I have one but it's quite loud, and I keep that wherever I am during my awake (it's portable, so I even take it to work), and am looking for a second one for my bedroom for nights.

    • I live in my bedroom for about 9 hours per day. It's the one place I spend most of my time, so I choose the bedroom.

While amazon does great flash deals, I am kinda sick of online purchasing evolving into a video game where you miss out if you don't hit the quick time event button quickly enough.

    • +1

You should try a website called Cashrewards. Not online for the 8 minutes the deal goes live BAD LUCK.

I use CamelCamelCamel to track prices. It emails me when it hits a price I enter.

      https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B08JD7LJDY

      It's an amazon price tracker.
I bought my air purifier on Sunday at $385 and before it dropped further to $355, it arrived within 12hours. I didn't even think to look on ozbargain until today. Anyway I still get $100 off so the unit will cost me only $285.

      • +1

Thanks! I was just looking at CamelCamelCamel when I noticed the 3000i is current $455. Bought it. $355 after cash back seems pretty good.

        • +1

That;s a great price, it is back to $649.

          • +1

@GUESTUNKNOWN: Already arrived. Yes the gas sensor can detect farts!

Thanks again for the CCC tip. Saved me heaps!!

            • @lunchbox99: Haha. Pretty impressed with mine so far. It detects cooking smells and ups the ante to get rid of them.

Why not just spend the extra and a top rated Winix AUS-1250AZPU? It is currently only $492+ including delivery on ebay with the afterpay discount.
Think its like top 3 air purifiers on product review.

Engineered by Philips vs engineered by a small no name Australian company thats probably run out of a warehouse. I know which one I'd rather rely on.

      • +1

Lmao…. Brand snob, no clue about what is good at all. Check out product reviews and come back and talk.

    • Almost the same review rating on Choice, but you'd be paying a lot more for it. I don't know re customer reviews though.

  • +1

You can use IFTTT to control this too. I use webhooks on a stream deck so I can control without moving my chair.

  • Arrived today… Cool need to do the cash back now

  • +1

how crapsta you have to sign up for there spam to get your 100 bux, dodgy af.

unsubscribe first thing I'll be doing!

    • +1

Don't unsubscribe for at least a couple of month. Or whenever they end up transferring you the money.

      • Oh no too late!

      • Nope, didn't make a difference, still got paid.

  • For the people waiting for the product to arrive before they do the cash back, you can do it before it arrives.

To register a product you just need the product code, not a serial number and then after you've registered your product with the product code (e.g AC2939/70) it will give you a notification saying it's eligible for cash back (if eligible). Then you just put in your banking details, name, address, telephone number and attach a copy of the receipt and you can submit the claim. You also have to select signing up for promotional communications (spam emails?) otherwise it won't let you submit the cash back claim.

  • My cashback eft has been submitted. They say expect it to be paid within a couple of days.

    • How long did it take to get that notification?

      • You can see my timeline in my previous posts… (Cash hit my account a few days ago) did the cashback around the 25th, notification on the 31st, paid a few days later

  • +1

As a data point, I submitted it on the evening of 24/08 and received $100 cashback from Philips today. So it takes about a week.
