nice one will put in description

I can't use one of these such a massive waste of plastic, all for landfill. Some people are using reusable nappies and others are going the other way and using these things

  • +3

haha what a scam, you have to buy their proprietary bin bags? Anyone with kids know you'd fill a 10L bin with nappies in like 1-2 days. Can't imagine how much you'd spend on bin liners using this system.

    • +3

I spent a total of about $180 in total buying the bin and a whole bunch of liners on deals. Been using the liners for 1.5 years now. Still have another 2 years worth left to go. I use the bin only for poo diapers

      • -3

It would have been $10 using nappy bags. That's $170 you didn't need to spend and a heap of plastic into the environment

        • I have spent only about that much or less for a cassette of liners. And I don't think you have seen the liners. It's thin and uses just about the same amount of plastic as a nappy bag for a single diaper. If you are really that concerned about the plastic then you ought to use reusable cloth nappies

          • @0FoxGiven: Not to be rude but you're wrong on all three accounts.

            • Double bagged. 100 poos for $3.20 https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/573517
            • I have used the tommee tippee. I know how much plastic it uses.
            • I also used cloth nappies although they lost their absorbency after 6 months and strip cleaning didn't bring it back so we had to stop, which sucks. Cloth nappy manufacturers need to recommend a detergent and stand by their product which they do not.

@justtoreply: Fair enough. I might be using it differently compared to you maybe. Because I bought a total of 36 cassettes and I have used only 7 so far after 1.5 years or poo diapers.
And I have used the nappy bags while travelling and I stand by my statement. I use the same amount of plastic for one diaper (I twist just twice, thrice max).

I don't disagree this is more expensive but I don't mind paying a bit extra for the convenience of the easy disposal

I actually buy fill it yourself bin liners on Amazon. I bought a 200m roll and fill up the cassettes that fit the bin.

    • there are a bunch of 3rd party ones for these now

We were going to get something like this when expecting our first. Followed friends with the Plastic bucket with lid from big W (from memory) for about 10 dollars. Cheap and does the job.

Usually buy from Amazon but if they have stock may as well grab in person.

    Cheers op.

  • Thought it's Frank Green…

  • Landfill

  • The liners are terrible at reducing the smell ever since they changed to the green sustainable version.

  • Pretty sure this is the same product on Amazon AU, for the same price,
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Tommee-Tippee-Eco-Friendlier-Susta…

    • +1

Yes, as the op already pointed out

  • I use these for my cat's litter tray presents.

  • +2

the liners get expensive over time.
save yourself a lot of grief, go the Ubbi Pail off of FB marketplace instead, works with normal bin bags, and the lid truly stops any odours from getting out.
Even easier if you just put the nappies in a nappy disposal bag and straight into the garbage bin.

    • Nah none of them work that well, you need to chuck number 2s in the bin outside, these and anything similar can only handle wee

  • +2

Had this for our first child, and threw it out after a while. When you need to goto empty the bin the smell is still there regardless.

Now with our second we're using the Ubbi Pail and it's great since we can just use any bag, including odour reducing ones. And emptying it is much easier too.

  • This uses an insane amount of plastic and doesn’t really keep the smell in. We just started putting #2’s straight in the outside bin and #1’s in the kitchen bin because they don’t smell.
