  • I did this cash back with the woolies deal basically you only can redeem $20 in cash and $10 has to be spent on goods in the store well that's what I was told by Proctor and Gamble

  • -1

    meh, woolworths is easier http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/71350

    • +1

It is the same to get the $30 cash back.

    • +3

A time traveller I see! Woolies deal ended yesterday.
DJs seem to have the same deal. Good if you missed that deal.

      • yes good point, woolworths deal expired

        • +2

So you won't sell me the plans to your time machine??? :(
Luckily I got extra 10% off this week with Woolies Rewards card, so $14.95 + 60c stamp. Great price

        • and it had pretty crappy availability even before it expired.

        • +1

Didn't find that - Woolies restocked shelves & I got another 1 last night. Most stores I visited had stock. Could get a raincheck if not available.

        • +1

when i bought one my local woolworths had 6+ sitting on the shelf

        • +1

My friend went to local woolies on Tuesday night, they had taken the special tag off from the shelf. Spent a bit time to ask for a rain check because the lady didn't think it 'is' on special. Anyway, he bought from DJ instead. Easier, and the packaging is better too.

        • +2

          LOL
Better packaging at DJ's? How so? How special for the rubbish bin! The toothbrush is the same.

Easier to buy at DJs - not for most of Australia!
Only 37 DJ stores in Oz against the many many hundreds of local Woolworths supermarkets across most of Australia!! I wouldn't even know where to find these in my local DJ's (next to the local Woolies)! Electrical? Beauty products?

Of course it is usually easier to find stock at the very start of a sale (DJs), rather than the very end when they have changed the price tags (Woolies), given how many were sold just to Ozbargainers. Try buying this deal in the final hours of the sale at DJs - will they give you a raincheck or have any stock?? Not a fair comparison!

Certainly not better for most people. And quite a few got an extra 10% off at Woolies - making this deal $14.95, 4c/L off petrol worth a few dollars, and a few Qantas FF points for me.

But a good deal for those who didn't get to Woolies early enough, try another store, try after they restocked, didn't ask for a raincheck, or those who prefer shopping at DJs & its allegedly 'better packaging'.

(The Woolies deal was posted at the end of the first day of the special & the 1/2 price special was in the list of Woolies specials earlier - enough time to buy at the start of the deal, rather than in the last hours. Without posting that deal, it is unlikely this deal would have been posted.)

Great toothbrush imho. And its available now at DJs.

        • Don't know if you see the ones sold in Woolies and the ones sold in David Jones and Myer, they have different packaging! Woolies ones are in a transparent plastic, whiles the ones in David Jones and Myer are in a cardboard container.

Easier means my friend found it easier. No everyone has time to go to Woolies at any time they want.

        • Yes - different packaging in stores with emphasis on 'Braun' brand.

Supermarkets & stores often have different packaging - plastic pack is good to hang on supermarket display with other 'Oral-B' toothbrushes (good for security too), while 'Braun' in a box is better for store shelves as a 'Personal Care' appliance (& nicer as a gift).

But product is same, after the packaging is in the bin.

(Had a corporate client specialising in retail (shelf) 'real-estate', so I learnt a little of the value of certain shelves, packaging, and the psychology of purchases. Knowing that, I walked past 2 DJs stores 4 times today, but have not even entered DJs in over a decade. I am an OzBargainer & prefer to save my money to indulge in other ways.)

There was a week to buy this toothbrush on special at Woolies - seems like plenty of time. Some stores were open 18-24hrs/day, unlike DJs. Like all sales, anything worthwhile is snapped up early. DJs sale will be the same. (So get in early.)

But thanks for posting. And congratulations on a good first post!
          (I've stocked up already.)

      • David Jones might actually get the receipt right too as Woolworths had it listed as model 5000.

        • The Professional Care 5000 was replaced by the 500 - same barcode, so no problems claiming according to promoter. They are aware of the product description issue.

        • Besides - these are listed in the DJ's link & catalog as "Braun PC500 Professional Care Toothbrush"! Oops! They're all the same ;)
They are not listed in the online catalogue (under Personal Care - Braun).

    • Stock availability at Woolies was patchy - my local store doesn't even seem to stock it.

      • Umm… I thought the nearest DJs was a long way from Bundie? (350km to a Brissie DJs)

Another Woolies would have been closer (3 around your location), or ask for it - some stores had stock out the back, or a raincheck, or ask at the service desk if other stores have it and when the next stock is due. Woolies have been helpful in tracking down stock in my experience. (Good to know for another time.)

So this deal is not much help for those outside major centres.
In Qld there are 5 DJs in Brissie (as many as in Victoria) & 2 on the Gold Coast and that is it. Only place to have plenty is around Sydney.

  • i guess myer and coles will be the next.

    • You missed Coles - 30% off until yesterday. Just didn't rate a mention against Woolies 50% off.

      • i know. i am expecting it to do half price.

      • Coles is still 30% off all (non-discounted) OralB.
Not as good as Woolies last week - but you can save on those brush heads!

    • Now Target & BigW with Triumph IQ5000 (RRP $199) less $50 CashBack
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72101 BigW $139 = $89
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72221 Target $120 = $70
Also Precision Clean (4) brush heads $19.95 (25% off) at Target until Wednesday

  • The brush heads cost more than this itself :( Boo.

    • Watch out for bargains - 50% off at Woolies last week, 30% off at Coles this week. Just over 2 weeks back I bought 4 Oral-B Sensitive from DealFox for $14.50, less $5 for signing up to their emails, delivered. (Woolies had them for about $12.50 for 3.) There are the risky generics on eBay.

Users in the Woolies deal said this unit has lasted 15 years.
That is a lot of brush heads (last 3months), and expense. Something to consider.

    • +1

The shaver shop has 4 packs for about 20 bucks, which is probably the cheapest "permerment" price. Its actually on special but it always seems to be on special.

  • For those with a PC IQ5000…
    [Am comparing PC IQ5000 ($70 & 2 extra heads) against PC500 ($15) - which to keep?]

Do you use the different cleaning modes?
Or the wireless display - only seems good for kids (reward stars for lasting 2 minutes, telling you which teeth to clean next, frowny face if press to hard, & which mode you chose)? (PC500 stutters every 30 seconds & longer at 2 minutes - no need for display)

PC IQ5000 always reverts to 'Daily Clean', so my guess is most just use that over time.
'Deep Clean' is just a longer 'Daily Clean', so of little added benefit - you can always brush longer.
'Sensitive' is lower speed, but just decreasing pressure against teeth may get similar effect.
    'Whitening' "Superior whitening in 3 weeks*" - better than PC500 - I don't think I would use.
'Massage' - I don't think I would use. But what is it like?

    Vitality - 7600 oscillations/min
    Professional Care 500 - 7600 oscillations/min, 20000 pulsations/min
    Professional Care 1000+/Triumph - 8800 oscillations/min, 40000 pulsations/min
So major operating difference between 500 & 5000 is twice pulsations/min & choice of cleaning modes that change these oscillations/pulsations.

Was little disappointed that the 5000's larger charger base turned out to be the same small charger with added plastic surround for holding brushes. Was listed on OralB as "Portable SmartPlug Charger + Charging Station with Brush Head Storage". Expected a 'SmartPlug Charger' to handle other voltages. Charger is no good for some overseas travel as is only 240V, but would work in most hotel bathroom 110/240V shaver outlets.

    Any thoughts???

  • went to quite few woolies on SE of Mel when 50% off deal is on, very crap stock availability as all stores(oakleigh, parkmore, springvale, dandy, endeavour hills and fountain gates) were out of stock of PC 500 since Thursday night, wait till Tuesday , called around. still no luck. was able to get the rain-check for it but all stores i went to still have not received any loads after 2 weeks.

after seeing this deal. I went to chemist warehouse and bigw asked for pricematch of DJ deal, they happily did it for me.

the woolies may be more convenient to access than DJ, but for me, thump up for DJ.

    • There was a comment that none of the 500s were left at DJs in Sydney City store (alwayseric on 10/06/2012 - 20:14). Same company, different experience.
Its a sale - stocks will vary, and OzBargainers & others will clear out the shelves - irrespective of retailer. Woolies deal was first to post, 50% off deal was more widely advertised, so more OzBargained - there was a lot of interest in the deal, and those who had already stocked up didn't need to OzBargain Dj's for the same deal. Most people don't associate DJs with bargain, so less people would have stumbled across the deal in the store. There were plenty on the Woolies shelves around my area, even at the end of the sale.

    • hey who actually pricematched - CW or BigW?

I spoke with Chemist Warehouse who said they only pricematch other chemist stores, nothing else?

  • Bought two from dj yesterday. Good deal, thanks OP

    • Which store? Could not fund any store with stock in syd.

      • Hay st mall Perth
