Who wants to bet these are the absolute cheapest cables they could get on Ali, sold at volume for meaty profits?

    • absolute cheapest cables they could get on Ali, sold at volume for meaty profits

E-waste in less than 3 months.

    • probably, but shipping and insurance are quite expensive now. have to add on their time 9ordering, storing, packing, sending), taxes etc and they're not making much for the effort even if seeing decent volume.

      • Lol insurance. FBA charges $3, plus a small amount for stocking and stuff.

I expect they got all these cables at probably cheaper than 50c each, that's another $2, so they're making $2-3 each. For doing basically nothing.

        • you're probably right.
i can tell you for the stuff I manufacture in china, the shipping and insurances (both of which have quadrupled in the last 2yrs) just about double the cost of landed goods. I'm also paying almost double for labour.
you can only sort of legally avoid all of those expenses if you're drop shipping (these guys are not) or running a home operation (but then it's not much volume and only just a small side income which also gets taxed at your marginal rate).

our society is hooked on these super cheap, short lifespan items. that's another debate but i don't begrudge people having a go at side incomes. $2 for a MFI cable (even if questionable if true MFI certified) delivered through prime a decent deal if you're into these disposable cables, rather than saving 50c-$1 on aliexpress and waiting 2-6 weeks.

          • @quasi: Last I heard Apple charges $4 per connector for certification. So these are absolutely not mfi. Straight out of the box you're buying a lie.

But yeah you're not wrong, society is hooked on cheap junk and quality isn't really rewarded unfortunately.

    • You mean everyone can meet moq requirements?
