    • OP of the last link.

The reason why I came across this post is because I'm looking for new ones.

I ended up hooking up solar panels to them a while ago because the battery percentage report cannot be trusted, and one of them is constantly reporting battery low.

This morning one of them is reporting battery low again even though the solar panel is working, and the indicator is flashing between red and green. It's just too much of a headache.

The connection is still good, but definitely not an ideal and smooth experience.

Do not get this one. I bought this from the last deal and it is in somewhere in the garage.

I am using the TP-Link Tapo cameras are better but this one has wires. If you want a cordless camera, invest more get a better one.

  • I have the same cameras, for some reason, it doesn't always push the real-time notifications to the phone, maybe it's the software issue?

    • Same. It's to do with Android versions I suspect

Despite reading the poor reviews, I bought these from the 04 March offer, because a wired solution would have been difficult to install.

I have mine set for 10 second clip detection, during night hours only.
The real time notification has been working fine.
The batteries are currently sitting at 95% and 80% respectively, from my initial charging in March.
I've not had any disconnection issues.
The plastic wall mounts are fragile, but I was able to install without breaking them.
Although I've enabled "human body movement detected", they capture my neightbour's cat prowling around during the dark hours.

Depending on your use case, these may be "good enough" at $99.
They have been better than I expected (touch wood) based on the reviews.
    But YMMV

    • Can I ask what's real running time between charging? Thanks.

I bought these. Returned them immediately. They constantly lose connection to the hub and notifications take 2mins to come through on my phone. Replaced then with Reolink cameras… 10x better.

    Xiaomi … No thanks!

    Shows 10 now, returned?

  • Excellent cameras that work flawlessly, free cloud storage , app works perfectly,. ABSOLUTE BARGAIN

    • don't they usually charge for cloud storage?

  • Ozbargain seriously needs to forbid the advertisement of these cameras. They should never be allowed to suck anyone else into purchasing these ever again.

    • @should never be allowed to suck

Some enjoy the experience. It could be the only time they are sucked

  • The camera bases are crap. Base was cracked straight out of the box.

  • In the hope of saving people time & money from buying these cameras, I dug up my Paypal dispute summary to showcase the issues I had with the cameras.

    1. One of the cameras always showed “loading” when activated, with no live picture. Needed a power cycle..
    2. The other camera kept on losing its connection to the gateway, only worked 1 in 5 times when it’s activated.
    3. Both cameras needed to be within 2-3 meters of the gateway to connect properly. They did not punch through the wall.
    4. After about 5mins, both cameras went into deep sleep mode in the app and wouldn't activate unless I power cycled them.
    5. One of the cameras kept flicking between day mode and night mode, during the day when there was lots of light.
    6. The gateway was not supplied with a power adapter.
    7. The notifications took 2-3 minutes to come through which makes the camera essentially useless for "live" notifications.
    8. The cameras took 2-3secs to start recording - by which time the mailman was often gone before footage was captured.

The gateway is the main issue here. It's a cheap, flaky mess. Weighs about 20grams. Proper cameras have a robust gateway as it drives the entire process from storing captured movement, to sending thorough the notification. The cameras themselves are well built and the captured footage is acceptable at $99 for 2. I think JB is selling them for $299 - that's criminal.

This is a true case of you get what you pay for. In the under $100 category, I previously had the Kogan battery powered camera and now the Reolink battery (solar) powered camera. Both come without hubs and Reolink offers free cloud storage. They are both a lot better that the Xiaomi cameras, with the Reolink offering the best user experience from app, to motion capture, to detecting "fake" triggers, to just working as they should.
