      Asians may object.

    • Punctuation looks fine to me.

Always check Rtings.com reviews instead of anecdotal ones. Seems no-go on the LG and either Sony is fine depending on your personal preferences.

Why don't you spend 5 mins and do a bit of research first ?

Hybrid has posted an excellent site for reviews of tvs

OZB does NOT recommend using google as it solves too many posts and therefore stops these types of posts.

  • OLED 55" LG

Try consumers guarantee with Sony first, it’s not a cheap tv, should last more than 5 years.

^ THIS - likely 3-5yrs old - if towards the lower end likely have a claim to atleast partial refund:

    • I'm curious as to what happened. I'd be wary of buying the same brand of TV if it died after three years.

      ^^^THIS.
My Sony of 3.5 years old died after mainboard went.
Sony said no, out of warranty. I told them BS.. and pushed for consumer guarantee. Advised if they refused will likely refer to ACCC & Fair Trading (I'm in QLD). Mentioned that Sony market themselves as a Premium brand. As such I expect more than 3.5 years on a $1500 TV. Asked Sony what was their expectation with regards to reasonable lifetime for this product etc..
They escalated my case and within hours came back saying they'll fix it. That's been done, onsite due to 55" screen. Total outlay for me was one phone call and some emails.

Model: 55" x8500F if it helps.

Need a budget. Need usage trends.
Also, as Richardc pointed out, the X900E is only 4 years old, isn't it? Push consumer rights.

    • bought it in 2017 october

      • Still worth a shot.

Still need a budget and usage trends to give you a good recommendation also.

Edit: Is it ONLY between the SONY and LG you've listed? In that case, Sony.

DO NOT BUY the LG UQ90 - I did and returned it.

    See my thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/715109

  • ive always liked Sony. The budget is 1000 originally to 1500 I was gonna get LG uc90 but i didn't want to spend arm n leg and saw X75K for 1195

Remember some TV brands sell TVs in Australia with much worse specs and performance than the overseas version with the same model number. So even if you see a brilliant rtings score for a particular model, it may not be for the same TV.

  • Also looking for a TV - a budget 55 inch. Can anyone tell me if the Bhaun 55 inch from Aldi or the EKO pro series 55 inch is better? Both are $569.

    • I got my MIL a Ffalcon 4K HDR model for $380 at JB and rate that highly once you have tweaked the picture settings really impressive for what I paid for it as I currently have a 77C1 oled
