Office Works deal also comes with a second set of ink but has the same product code, so it’s a pretty good deal.

  • Come back in 2 years time, ask the question:

Why the black color print out font and straight line looks weird, but color print out looks fine…

  • Ive had 2 canon printers this style fail in 3 years print head faults and not used a lot I've now today changed to the brother tank style printer seems impressive so far .

  • Seems a decent price, although some outlets indicate the standard price is $229.
@Birdyzone How did you ensure you got the value pack with ink from Officeworks, the link you posted doesn't include it, the value pack appears to be nil-stock on their website?

      Hi Twinvader

I have been to a couple of Office Works and it seems the 8660a has a Office Works exclusive bonus ink. The 8660 available widely elsewhere does not.
They have just put a sticker on the box and thrown some loose ink in the top of the box.

  • I think officeworks is too crowded in my area, its a little too expensive for a first printer.

  • I'm never buying these printers again. The cartridge code 2x the printer price.
I bought a Brother Laser B&W at Officeworks, what a beast.
It prints so fat, no issues with cartridge drying and the cost per print is very low.

See earlier post. You can get a fast colour laser for less than this. And cheap third party toner.

Friends don't let friends buy inkjet printers. They are all made to break, even when you spend $500+.

        • someone on reddit posted that they would automate printing a print job every x days (maybe once a week?), which would use all the colours and keep the print head happy. But yeah, without regular use, not a good option.

      • Which post is this? Im in the market and would like a good colour laser…

By far worst printer I've ever used!!!

  • I've had this printer for about a year. I print about 100 pages a month. Never had any trouble with it.
I buy 3rd party ink on eBay for about $25-30 for a full set, and that works just fine.

  • I have it up and running now.
Install took about 20 minutes and AirPrint was easy to set up. This was probably shorter than some because I have dealt with the Canon printer world before.
    Print quality looks good.
I appreciate everyone has different needs in printers. I purchased this model because, sometimes I need to print a photo for the kids and do duplex printing.
If I was just punching out regular printing I certainly would have gone a different way
The only strange thing I found was the setup ink weights more than the other cartridges, normally it’s the other way.
I also purchased this model because of the availability of generic ink. As sensei pointed out above. It takes the pain out of replacing a dry cartridge.
    Cheers Birdy

    • Did the Officeworks branch you ordered it from include the bonus ink? Mine didn’t have the bundle with ink in stock and indicated they wouldn’t price match that bundle as it’s exclusive to them. Thanks for your earlier reply

        Hi TwinVader
I ordered online to avoid this issue.
As far as I’m aware all office works are selling the 8660a with the bonus ink.
The phone staff checked with the store for stock. I didn’t mention the bonus ink.
Picked it up no dramas. There’s also the free freight option to get around your local. Good luck!

        • I’ll head into my nearest store as they have stock and take my chances. Thank you

  • Could anyone recommend an colour laser printer with reasonable refill costs?

  • Back upto $215 on catch… still a good deal. For what I use I'll grab one thanks
