I been always hold off buying these days. So many times I'm seeing items at 50% off, only for it to sell out, restock and drop another 50% down to 75%. And that's when I strike.

    • +1

The issue is some items sell out and they aren't available again. I guess it just depends how desperate you are for the item.

I find that I buy a lot of stuff just because it's cheap, stuff I wouldn't normally buy such as sweets. So now I've decided to not buy as much.

Yeah, I'm cutting down my spending. Been buying too much and they're expiring in front of my eyes

Will the nutribullet lids go next, or will it be the soda stream bottles? Perhaps the sun canopy umbrella, or maybe the gaming mouse?

  • Merged from Blue Yeticaster $269.99 @ Amazon AU
    Go to Deal

    RRP $400

Discounted price from third party on Amazon

Low quantity, but this is one for the pricebeating/matching. I picked mine up from OW for $256.49. Others might like JB to use with the current 5% voucher and discounted GCs..

    • Is Blue Yeti or Rode better?

    • +3

      Is this endorsed by onlyfans?

      Asking for a friend

    • I may be mistaken, but when I was shopping for a mic arm a couple of years ago, the Rode [forgot model] I bought was RRP ~$180 and Blue Compass arm was RRP ~$200. Included in bundle this is probably a great deal

      • Yeah, seems to be the consensus, I recall reading the thread for this deal when crazily it was found down to $200. The mic or the arm are often that high by themselves, so thought getting this bundle down closer to this price was going to be good value.

Was going to buy some Ocean Spray for $1.60 but it's only 6% juice??

If anyone else wants to, knock yourself out :)

    • Calling that drink juice is stretching it. Pink fruit flavoured drink is more like it.

    • +2

Good spotting. I compared to Ribena which is 5.7% blackcurrent juice. So seems about right?

      https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/204032/rib…

I think its because it's from concentrate.

Edit: not an expert! But I ordered one to try :)

      • +1

The classic has 27% juice. I know 100% cranberry juice would be incredibly acidic and tart but I happily have 100% pineapple juice. Would've expected more than 4% cranberry and 2% pineapple. Seems to be more like a pre-diluted cordial.

        That's just my findings :)

        • +1

Yes…. you're right. Cancelled order, thanks for talking me out of it.

Macadamia goes rancid quite easily, even when in date. Has that off smell and taste

      • I saw that post and it was the first thought that occurred to me..

    • Don't know what it is with me and Carmans bars but they've done it to me again. My order has gone to delivery date pending now

    • I’m seeing $29.xx plus 20% discount for the dock, was there a other discount earlier?

      • +3

There is just the 20% discount tickbox, checkout gave me price of $19.85 on the lighning deal.

(20% is off the regular price of $48.79)

        • +1

That makes sense, I thought the 20% was off the $29.xx.

          • @mapax: I didn't do the math until after you mentioned it since checkout price was as above. Thought it was off the lightning price too but didn't work out.

    • +1

Thanks got a dock, for $19 cant go wrong lol.

WONDERPEDIC Cervical Neck Roll Memory Foam Pillow, Bolster Pillow, Round Neck Pillows Support for Sleeping- Travel Pillow for Bed, Legs, Back and Yoga with Easy to Carry Portable Bag

    3 left in stock

    Promo as follows:

    Original price: $49.99
Lightning deal price: $16.14 (68% off)
    Price after 50% off: $16.14 – (50% * $49.99) = $0 (100% off) Initially but expired shortly after deal started

Delivery: FREE for all Prime Members or $39+ spend.

I know a very small number of people (incl. myself) got this for FREE today when they had a 50% off coupon but the seller removed the coupon (or coupon limit has been reached) only several minutes into the deal starting time but I guess it’s still good to share the lightning deal price itself as a low qty deal.

    • +2

I managed to get one for free but the coupon disappeared shortly after I got it so it was no longer a freebie 😔

    • Its tiny looking at pics comparing it to the glasses and pen. Also seems to be 2 small hands length as per video (and i have big hands and still looked small when i estimated the size)
Will probably end up in landfill

      • It’s only meant to be a small neck pillow lol. 37cm long apparently. How big/long do you want yours to be?

  • Choc Chip LCMs for 82c (pack of 6) - I bought a few packs but there seems to be more left at time of posting https://www.amazon.com.au/LCMs-Kelloggs-Choc-Chip-Count/dp/B…

    • Won't let me buy now or add to cart :(

    • Thank you for the post. Was about to buy then saw this:

      https://www.choice.com.au/babies-and-kids/feeding-children/m…
      Lunchbox misses
Kellogg's may promote their LCM bars as "a sure-fire lunchbox hit", but they're a miss when it comes to nutrition. Kellogg's LCMs Split Stix Yoghurty, for example, have a health star rating of just 0.5. And while they're only small (23g a bar), they're high in saturated fat, pack a sugar punch and are among the saltiest products reviewed. Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Bars (1 star) aren't much better.

Thanks for the post but just wanted to warn others that these aren't healthy at all.

      • Pretty sure everyone knows that lcms are packed with sugar…

The choc chips are a dead giveaway

        • Uncle Toby's choc chips, Freedom Foods choc chip and others have a health star rating of 4/5. So its much better than this. (Still not amazing though).

          • @b2dz: Health stars don't mean anything, not sure why you'd quote them. Those muesli bars are 17% sugar, 12.4% for the Freedom ones

            • @spackbace: Whereas LCM is around 35% without a star rating?

          • +1

@b2dz: It's a shame people don't use the nutritional information and ingredients the government makes companies include and instead rely on a flawed star system.

Besides, Uncle Toby's is made with wholegrain oats. LCM is made with rice bubbles lol. That should tell be telling enough.

            • @pennypincher98: But how is it flawed in this case?

It's not like any of them are healthy. But the ones with the higher ratings are less bad. I don't really see how the health star rating has failed in this case?

              • @b2dz: Yeah exactly none of them are healthy, but 4/5 stars is just one off a perfect score.

It's like a 4 star hotel isn't just "less bad than the others", it's one star off perfection. A place might not have accommodation above 2 or 3 stars, but they're not going to bump them up to 4 just because there's nothing better in town.

                • @pennypincher98: I get your point, but the star system was only meant to compare against similar items.

"Health Star Ratings are a quick and easy way to compare the nutritional profile of similar packaged foods."
                  http://www.healthstarrating.gov.au/internet/healthstarrating…

In the context above I was saying that LCMs are the worst of the lot, provided a Choice link and gave a few better options by using the star rating system, rather than comparing the energy, sugars, fats, fibre, sodium, and working it out per 100g. Using the star system, it was easy to work out options that are better than LCMs (35% sugar vs 12%). It works if you are comparing similar items. It doesn't work if you compare it against wild caught canned tuna with organic almond milk.

If I'm at the shop with my son, I have a minimum of a 4 star rating for breakfast. It's much easier for him to understand a star rating, rather than for him to look at the back of each packet and work out an outcome based on a formula of energy, sugars, fats, fibre and sodium. He wants coco pops? Tough luck, its a 2. Sultana bran? It's a 4, you can have it. It works well for me and gives me son a kick out of choosing something himself. Blanket statements like "Health stars don't mean anything" from spackbace is so impractical for some people and out of touch with reality - hence why it was introduced it in the first place.

It's not perfect, but a practical alternative.

                  • +1

@b2dz: Except it doesn't even work with that. Say you are looking for a drink and look just at the star rating.

99.8% Apple Juice, no added sugar has 3 stars. A 4 pack of Rockstar energy drinks has 3.5 stars. A chocolate flavoured Up&Go gets a perfect 5 stars somehow.

Now I'm no expert here but having 2L of juice will do nothing except give you the runs lol. Yet it is less healthy? And a chocolate flavoured Up&go is the (equal) healthiest drink?
Fun fact: Woolies doesn't show the energy drink 3.5 stars on their website because it knows how ridiculous this system is.

                    • +1

@pennypincher98: I see your point but you're arguing that fruit juice, energy drinks and liquid breakfast are all in the same category of "drink".

It would be like saying breakfast cereal and ice cream are in the same category of "food".

I didn't realise energy drinks had a rating. I agree that's a bit ridiculous as they're all horrible for you. I have a lemon V in the cupboard and it doesn't have a rating, so it must not apply to all of them (I think it is voluntary actually).

The sanitarium drink you referenced is dairy free and is mostly water and soy milk with some added stuff. I'm not an expert but soy milk has less fat than cows milk right? Compared to others in the liquid breakfast category it must be significantly better. Normal up and go chocolate tastes fscking horrible anyway so good luck to whoever buys the soy variant, it must be even worse (normal vanilla is bearable).

Again if it's in the same category, it mostly works as a good quick indicator. It's not perfect though.

Maybe they should indicate the category group on the packaging as well? Dunno. There's surely improvements to be made but saying they "don't mean anything" is ill-informed.

Also I agree having 2L of juice would give you the runs, but its probably not assuming you would drink it all in one go? Probably uses the "Per Serve" amount or whatever.

Edit 2: I think what's important to note is that the star is just based on a formula that takes into account energy, sugars, fat etc from the ingredients and it spits out a number. It's then ranked against other items in that category. It's not some arbitrary number that someone just rolls and dice assigns. It's available on the website.
