40% "discount" for a used item with 1 month warranty? 🤔

    • +2

      Apparently New R.R.P. $1200 Was $750.00 Now $450.00

      • +5

Good Morning $750 is our off sale price for used, chairs RRP is $1200. If you you have any other enquires feel free to call me on 03 9312 6341

    • +3

HM chairs has a 12 year (pls check on website) warranty anyway. I had mine repaired with no need for proof of purchase. As long as the chair still has the manufacturing serial on it and double check, grab one that is as young as possible.

      • +1

They refused to repair mine as I didn't purchase it new, 10 years old, purchased from my employer (office closed, purchased the chair for WFH)

That being said, parts are plentiful, got a replacement back for about $150.

        • depends on the service centre. I had to call around to find one that did it without requiring an invoice.

  • +1

How much is shipping for one to Sydney 2000?

    • +18

      Too much

    • +90

I just asked them about delivery and they basically told me to go away. So, awesome business, would deal with again, 0/10.

        • +56

Would recommend you include [VIC] in the deal title to indicate this

        • +9

I agree with trulymadly, please add VIC to the title if you are unwilling to ship elsewhere,

      • +8

Obviously deals like this won't be delivery. They will be assembled, and if they were to price the item to account for disassembly, packaging and shipping then frankly it wouldn't be a deal.

        • Good Morning, we don't charge extra to have item ready for shipping chair is fully assembled.

        • +1

I wouldn't say 'obviously', I've seen plenty of office chairs delivered assembled. Personally I have no idea if you can buy this $1200 chair flat packed.

          • +4
            • +2

@ChatCPT: So strange then that the comment above, that 'obviously they wouldn't be delivered as already assembled (as pre-owned), got so many upvotes.

              • +1

@tonka: yeh. ignorants spreading lies. ignorants believing them

              • +1

@tonka: Have you seen the RRP and the shipping cost of these chairs from Herman Miller? You're not buying a brand new chair, and it is priced accordingly. This mob can't absorb shipping costs as readily as Herman Miller can selling directly, because they won't have the same juicy margins that they can dig into. Shipping large items like prebuilt chairs is expensive.

                • +2

@Tyrx: Mate, I was calling you on talking down to dekekun by using 'obviously' like they were an idiot. Then crapping on about the chairs have been assembled as pre-owned and they won't want dis-assemble to ship. When they were never dis-assembled to start with. And nobody asked them to absorb shipping costs. 'Obviously' the buyer could be asked to cover shipping. Plenty of office chairs get delivered assembled, almost all of them really. And y'know Amazon is nice enough to post me five cartons of drink bottles a month, way heavier and bulkier for free from interstate. I got a second hand Kayak delivered interstate recently and sent one from Sydney to Perth myself a while back.

      • Lol

      • +5

Think we just found out how they'll deal with warranty issues ;)

      • +1

Delivering used items like chairs is bound to be a disaster for returns costs. Understandable.

        • You'd think for $450 pre-owned they should have confidence in it's quality though. New chairs that are much cheaper (therefore more likely to be returned) get delivered. And with one month only warranty if it's getting sent back they didn't do their job and sent something substandard out.

  • arms not included

    • +8

      Should be fine… It's armless

      • +7

        No arm no foul.

        • +4

At the price they're asking for a second hand item it's…armed robbery

We still have quite a few in stock so for a multi buy/bulk buy it shouldn't be a problem.

  • Hey do you have any with arms?

    • +1

unfortunately not at the moment sorry.

it might be me too (i don't wear underwear and i don't wipe)

        rofl

        • You think a simple wipe is gonna clean up that mess?

          • @Budju: well, it's not going to be a problem for me, is it? :P

            • @slowmo: Best protection against other poop is to dilute it with majority of your own poop. Point taken

  • +12

I see these come up fairly regularly second hand for $150 from office suppliers, just have a look on gumtree/fb marketplace first.

    • +1

I got mine with armrests for $400 at the height of Covid WFH (June 2020) so it's definitely possible.

  • +1

Have these at work. They cut off circulation to my lower legs because of the hard seat rim

    • Yep, experience the same thing.

In terms of wear and tear these things are super sturdy,, haven't come across them being damaged or worn out. So should be reliable, although well used.

      I wouldn't want one without arms,.but that's a personal choice I guess.

      • The back plastic that connects to the mesh can snap at the upper bolts, if you pull the chair around by it, esp on carpet

    • It sounds like the seat is either incorrectly positioned or too large for you. The seat should finish about 4 fingers' width from the back of your knee, and my old physio recommended that the seat be tilted forward slightly to keep my feet planted on the ground.

    • +2

The front of the seat can be adjusted to essential 'bend' down, so there shouldn't be any hard rim touching your legs (at least on the ones I used to use, but that was quite a few years ago)

      • ^ this
Clearly issue is with the user

    • In my opinion, the Aerons suit people with a bit of weight to them because the plastic mesh they use for back and seats, takes a lot of pressure to deform them.

So imagine a square cushion, that stayed a square and didn't mould to your butt if you sat on it. It would be hard as, it wouldn't support you and it'd be pretty uncomfortable!

In my case when I used my friend's Aeron, I didn't weigh enough to change the shape of the chair to make it comfortable.

    • There's a version like the one I have that has a moveable seat rim, you can tilt it up or down. The seat rim on mine doesn't even touch my legs.

You just need to figure out if this is the right version.

  • How much is shipping to tassie

    • -1

Good Morning we do offer delivery services within Victoria, unfortunately at this current time we don't do interstate delivery. We are happy to have the chair ready for collection once you have organised your own transportation.

      • +6

Put it in the your title and description that it's for Victoria only then so we all know 🙄

  • +25

IMO a used office chair should be no more than 25% of the original price if it's come from a corporate setting - they usually aren't treated with much care.

To me, buying ex-office furniture is like buying an ex-taxi; if it's cheap enough it's worthwhile, but expect that a lot of its usable life has already been consumed.

    • +3

I agree completely. Although the price is whatever the used market is willing to accept. If these sell at $450 then the price is fine.

I won't be lining up for one, though.

    • I'd generally agree with this, but in the current circumstances its possible that many organisations are downsizing office space and with that getting rid of excess office furniture well before its "use by date"

    • +1

Its kinda like buying someone's used pants on facebook, except they sit on it for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Years of collecting an assortments of human odors (sweat and farts) that doesn't get washed.

25% of the original price is very generous, I bought a new noble gaming leather chair for $500 on special, or buy sweaty bob's 3 year old office chair for $450 with a month of warranty.

      • if my anedoctal experience of office chairs is anything to go by, don't get sweaty bob's office chair… i've seen… things i wouldn't even do to my own plastic washable chair.

edit: or maybe throw a black light on it when you get it… or you don't.

      • Gaming leather chair for $500 sounds like a good deal. Can you please share the link / manufacturer?

        • +1

          Noble Epic leather chair

          https://www.noblechairs.com/epic-series/real-leather-gaming-…
Seen go on special twice in the last 4 years, first time it was $500 and second time at $550, I remember the price because I was going to get one for my mum.

Ive also seen this on special for around $579, noblechairs ICON Real Leather Gaming at Scorptec.

          • @Magik: thanks for this, it looks really good. Can you give a quick review about this? How long have you used it for, and do you think it is the sort of furniture that would last 10 years?

    • -1

IMO a used office chair should be no more than 25% of the original price

Good for you. What you think things should cost is how I make all my purchasing decisions…

      • +3

I prefaced with "in my opinion", then gave my opinion. Feel free to ignore anything you read online that doesn't resonate with you :)

        • I gave my opinion. Feel free to ignore anything you read online that doesn't resonate with you :)

  • +2

A glorified used chair with 1 month "replacement policy" (as in, no refund if they sold a sh*t chair). Could easily find a better deal on marketplace or gumtree if one is willing to look for that much money.

    • +3

Agreed - I got a steelcase leap v2 for an absolute steal ($100) on FB marketplace. Had been looking for a chair for quite some time, but there are definitely some good deals to be had. This is in TAS also, so you’d have more to pick from in any of the bigger states IMO.

    With armrests for $500.

$450 seems to be standard going rate.

    • 15% extra for car payments though

    • +1

we have over 200 in stock.

without arms, they not going anywhere :)

      • +3

I don't want arms on my chair. Arms are not ergonomic. You should be adjusting your chair and desk so that you can comfortably rest your arms on the desk while you type and use your keyboard/mouse.

If your arms are above your desk, your shoulders are too high. If your arms are below your desk, they aren't doing anything. If your arms are the same height as your desk, you're sitting too far away.

        • Those arms are free to adjust/ remove. I luv the arms, I set them in a way that it levels with the table. Main advantage of Herman Miller is that it adjustable for almost anyone, not just you.

          • @boomramada: Alternatively, save a few hundred backs and don't pay for arms in the first place. Hilariously, the POINT of adjustable arms is to get them completely out of the way when you're actually sitting at your desk, which is… realistically 90% of the time.

I set them in a way that it levels with the table

Yes, that's why I mentioned the

If your arms are the same height as your desk

            Because that means that

            you're sitting too far away.

Yes, you're absolutely free to adjust the chair the way you like - I'm trying to tell you in the nicest way I can that you're adjusting it in a way that is bad for your posture; primarily your shoulders are reaching too far forward and do not get to hang in a neutral position. Herman Millers own product handbook explicitly shows diagrams where chair arms level with the desk generate forward hunching and raked upper arms due to increased distance.

    • +1

Just because it's the going rate, doesn't make it a good deal.

      • +2

        That's what I mean.

    • +1

Basically just posted merch at standard prices to ozb and getting upvotes.

  • At the current time were are selling Mirra1 for the cheapest price in town, all our chairs are checked by logistics. They are all cleaned and ready for a new life with our customers.

    • +2

Might add the Mirras will easily last a decade of daily use and still super comfortable.

  • -1

I think this is more a brand now than a good quality ergo chair. So many better options out there.

    • Could you share a few? I’m in the market for a good chair for WFH.

      • +2

I recently bought an Ergotune Supreme for $452 on the Prime Day sales. I am finding it excellent so far. Not even preowned and comes with excellent quality arm rests.. 🙂

I’d recommend the steelcase leap v2 there’s a showroom in Melbourne you can try it but I reckon it’s the best chair I’ve got but best yo try it cause you be spending 1000+ on a chair , I got it when it was 25% off !

  • Are these “preowned” or “preloved”?

    • Good Morning Kev, they are both :)

    • +8

      Love stains optional

  • Bring back the Haworth Zody Office Chair Red for $75 deal, I need a few more!

  • +3

Good Morning, if you come instore i will honour the $75 for you.

  • Interesting specification. 150kg average user weight. Lucky there's a Pizza deal on.

  • -1

Would you suggest this chair or a Secret Lab Evo 2022 for an extra few hundred and getting 5 years total warranty?

    • +4

Secret lab is not good. It's all marketing and hype.
Ergonomics and build quality for them are shit.
