Xiaomi Aqara Zigbee Water Leak Sensor US$9.99 (~A$14.46) Delivered @ Hekka

490
HekkaAqara

Low price on this previously popular Aqara Zigbee water sensor that beats my own previous deal in price 3 months ago.

This sensor is designed to detect water and once detected it can be configured to do tasks like sending a notification to your device or an alarm to your Xiaomi Zigbee gateway. The sensor is IP67 waterproof rated and has a replaceable button battery with 2 years of battery life.

An example of how this sensor could be useful is placing it behind your washing machine. When a leak is detected the sensor can send to an alert to notify that it's detected water.

It requires the use of a Zigbee hub and it's compatible with many brands including Aqara, Xiaomi, Conbee and more. It supports Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Home Assistant.

You could put it in your bed so you get a notification if anything is leaking..

Note the coupon only works once and doesn't stack with increased quantity.

    • Yeah would be great if it can be applied for more than one. I plan to buy 6 but not keen to create 6 accounts to do that.

      • +2

Just out of interest, what do you want/need 6 of them for? I can't even think of a reason for me to own even 1 of them.

        • +8

          For detecting water leaks.

                  @Domingo: Anytime

@Domingo: Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Bathroom Vanities, etc

      • +3

3 bathroom sinks, 2 toilets, kitchen sink, laundry sink, washing machine, hot water system and one behind the fridge as it's plumbed in to water for the cold water and ice machine.

I had the one on the hot water system alarm one day, went down and sure enough it only just split and and was spraying water out. It's under the stairs not visible, so the sensor caught it before damage was done.

Will this work with Philips Hue Bridge?

    • No. Without home assistant Philips Hue only works with Philips Hue.

      • Can we use this with Hue Bridge if you have Home Assistant? Or do you still need another ZigBee hub like Aqara/Conbee?

        • Need another like the conbee or sonoff.

    Moist

  • can it be used to detect rain?

    • Yes

    • +3

As long as the rain comes with water, sure, why not…

    • It's not ideal for rain - but will detect it. They aren't designed to withstand constant water exposure, nor uv (from personal experience).

These are great to use in the shower.

    • Sends you a notification when you have a shower?

      • Automatically sets a 3 minute timer that turns off the hot water…

    • How long do they stay active after water switched off? Thinking of setting automation to switch on exhaust fan after shower has finished.

      • 2 years of battery life

    Pants…….

  • Thanks Clear. Just started migrating my smart home devices onto Zigbee so this will be a good addition(even if I don't see any immediate use yet).

Any other Zigbee devices that you can pull together/hunt a deal for(eg. Other sensors or switches). The horrible FX rate makes buying many of these so unattractive compared to how low they've been in the past.

    • Linkind motion
      XFINITY contact
      Zemismart switches/lights

  • Does anyone have one working reliably with SmartThings?

  • +4

    Great for the nuclear subs.

  • If I have an eero mesh network that has zigbee smart home hub built in, do I need anything else to connect these to give notifications to a phone or series of phones?

We had a laundry hose go on us without notice, thankfully we heard it. Would love to put these under every vanity unit with concealed hoses!

  • Can anyone confirm if this will work using the Aqara G2H camera as a hub? I previously purchased a Mi branded one of these and it wouldn’t pair with the hub in the camera.

    • Yes it will work and you will have to change location to Chinese mainland in the app to pair it with Hub camera. I had the same issue with many Aqara products when i choose Australia as location.

The coupon says Oops, someone already snatched this code! at checkout. Means it's not valid any more?

  • +1

Expired? Says code has been used.

  • +1

"Oops, someone already snatched this code!"
    All gone?

  • Looks like all gone.

  • Do any of these have an in built alarm or do they all just rely on smart hub notifications?
I.e. are there two in one devices that sound a physical alarm and push out a notification?

    • +1

No physical alarm. Only your phone notification will be activated with a msg within the app.

  • Yup, me four… code no worky: "Oops, someone already snatched this code!"

  • Not working is it coming back?

  • Anyone can recommend good water and smoke sensor for the wifi (not zigbee)?

    • Not good to use wifi as it uses a lot more power, which will mean frequent battery changes.

Plus if wifi isn't stable, it'll drain the battery faster

      • Agree, I have a wifi temperature sensor and it's nowhere as reliable at reporting data compared to even a Bluetooth sensor I have. It struggles to maintain a connection to my router even though it's constantly powered by USB(ie. not battery) and in next room to the router and when it is connected, it only updates once every few hours(for obvious battery savings). Ended up using it as a live temp readout from the display than for reporting anything online - which I could have bought the same for a fraction of the price I paid.

    • ZigBee is better as battery life is heaps longer

  • +7

For those who missed out or wanted more I'll see if Hekka are willing to do a deal on a pack of them :)

    • +1

Thanks. A 3 pack would be great!

    • +1

Cool I'd be interested in 4x.

    • that would be cool!

  • Just received an OoS email and refund in 24 hours email :(

Would have been happy to wait a few weeks for that price instead of the cancelation.

  • Received mine today. Works great with Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT.
