Treadmill Suggestions - Walking Only, No Running

Hi lovely people

I'm wanting to buy a treadmill for personal use at home.
Will only be walking on it when I can't go out.
Walking speed will vary between 4-8 km/hr (For the whole household).

Can you please suggest what to look for?

I found some cheap ones, circa $400 on catch and on Facebook marketplace but not sure whether these are any good.

I'm pretty happy with the Lifespan treadmill I got from eBay for way less than $400 before covid. It's lightweight even my wife can move it around. The only thing that annoys me is it drops my nbn fttc connection for about 30 seconds.

Would you have the listing link by any chance?

Mine is a LSG Chaser 2. The seller used to have 20% off regularly but I can't find the seller now.

For a cheap treadmill, I recommend the Everfit TMILL-CHI-420-M6, I got mine for $327 but it goes on sale for $300 or even a bit less.
I've had mine since December last year and have been using it everyday for jogging, it's great.

It's a little bit narrower than the more expensive treadmills, so a little awkward for jogging at the maximum speed (12 km/h), but for walking or power-walking, it's perfect.

Beware, despite what anyone says, treadmills are always heavy (they have to be, for stability) — make sure you're able to lift it and move it around if needed, as they usually weigh around 40kg. When you're getting it delivered, make sure you're able to lift a huge and long 40kg box on your own (especially if you live upstairs), otherwise make sure you have a partner or friend on hand to help you lift it. A lot of the couriers nowadays will just dump heavy parcels at your door and won't help you bring it upstairs, for example.

Once assembled, you can readily move this around yourself using the wheels, but it's still pretty heavy, so just be aware of that. You are most likely not going to be moving it around everyday (like putting it away up against the wall, and taking it out, for example), it's not that portable — so make sure you have the floor space for it.

If you're exclusively walking only, I'd probably stretch my budget to the Xiaomi WalkingPad series as they are a little bit lighter and more portable (you can fit it underneath a desk when the handlebar is folded down), but you do pay a hefty premium for those as they cost $500-600.

I have the same treadmill and I highly recommend it

  • For walking, I'd suggest considering a manual treadmill, not electric.

    • I just looked some of these up and sweet jesus they are expensive (and heavy!). Are there any particular models you recommend?

      • No, the one I had was cheap and light. Worked well for walking - I was training for hiking in mountains.

        • That's good to hear, do you remember the model number or brand name? Everything I'm finding in my searches seems to cost several grand and weights 60kg+…

@deadpoet: Too long ago. Might have been kmart even. The only ones I see from a quick google are on eBay.
