Apply VIVID5 for additional 5% off
Brings the cart down to $1224.55

    • +1

there you go… even more tight arse value! ha!

      • You can also probably stack with the 7% email discount (this would be instead of VIVID5)

    • Can get Cash Rewards cash back if apply this code?

      • Nope since it isn’t listed as an eligible code on Cashrewards

  • +2

unless I am mistaken Inspiron is 6% cashback w CR

    • +1

      I can never remember.
      looked at the plugin…
      SB - up to 6%
      CB - up to 12%
      (todays numbers)

  • +1

"Don't forget the 12% cashback also."

    12% cashback from where?
CR provides only 6% for the Inspiron series.

  • -1

As i said - i dont know the percentage. Please read up.
However, also as mentioned above - CB is showing 'up to 12% on the plug in for me today'…

    https://imgur.com/BCC13xe

Why not focus on the deal instead of the CB % and work it out as dependant on the T&C's and which CB platform you use yourself? :)
    True OzB'er right there.. ha!

    edit op: "Don't forget the X% cashback/shopback also." - Better/Happier? :)

    • 6% for Inspiron range

  • +1

Thanks for sharing OP! Bought one for my wife's birthday :)

    • Nice little pressie indeed!

  • See the 1tb option is only configed in a 1255 i7 - but not many will every notice the difference for the usage 99% of us will have.
    $99 options…
    $100 option for W11P.

FYI - for those who want similar specs to OP's listing, a bigger battery, touch screen, and can part ways with an extra $250 - perhaps also check out their Dell listing on eBay for $1499 with promo code DE20LL - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/394007024030?_trkparms=amclksrc%…

    • I assume this isn't as good as the recent Lenovo deal?

      • +1

Considering there's been a few Lenovo deals lately, may you please clarify which recent Lenovo deal you're referring to?

How is this model with fan noise? The last Inspiron I bought constantly has its fans on even with very light use.

    • +2

I had the same issue of fan always running. A reinstall of the Windows (reset) entirely solved the problem.

    • +1

Check the bios settings. There is an option within there for a constant fan, this 'might' be causing it.

    • As io and mickyb80 have stated. I recommend using their support assist program to do these updates as it is fairly good. I do agree on a clean install first. If that fails and you have warranty, you may wish to consider a claim (if this is uncommon for your model) as I have had a similar issue, which was resolved when they replace the mainboard. If you do go down the warranty path, again use support assist, as it will force an update of drivers and then it will send you PCs info in the report

  • whats the gpu ?

    • +3

      Tech Specs list…

      CPU GPU - Video Card
      Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics

  • Since dell aren't using their 3000, 5000, 7000 series naming with this, does anyone know the quality of this lappy?

    • +1

Internal build and components are much of a muchness.
Chassis Exterior Chassis Materials - Aluminium exterior shell, I find these just fine. :)

      • Okay. Cheers for that. I was a little concerned it would be junk (3000) quality. It's looks like better quality in the pictures than the old 3000 series, so might be worth a gamble.

        • +1

I was also a bit confused by this. Looks like the "Plus" variant might be the equivalent of the 7000 series, so I guess this might broadly be a 5000 series equivalent?

          • +4

@snep: This one is Inspiron 16 (5620), a 5000 series, and the Inspiron 16 Plus (7620) is 7000 series, which comes with GeForce RTX 3050 and a 3k display and selling at $1,338.46. IMO, a better value for money.

            • @O O: Showing $2,599.00 normal for that build, the 25.6% reducing to $1,933.66… What am I missing for the $1,338.46 ?

              • +1

@cbalsill: It was $1,799 RRP, Dell corrected the pricing error.

        • +1

agree. if id not just build a new trashbook with an older i5, picked up a HP i7 with ++++ add on's in a CTO build at $4k 6 months ago, i'd seriously consider picking up one of these.
My only hurdle is - no touch on the screen. cant live without touch now.. Stylus on all my tech devices now days…

  • -4

For that price it should really include 3090 GPU in it.

    • at $1200?
aaahhh thats a big ask for little money with the other specs it carries…

    • +1

If you can find a laptop from a reputable seller with an RTX3090 for that price, I'll give you my left nut.

      • +1

        right nut from me

      • +1

        both from me!
and i'll even consider allowing weird things to be done to my man hole!

        just aint gonna happen!

  • +1

I love those up firing speakers, pointing towards your ears rather than down firing to the desk underneath the laptop.

  • Are latitude and XPS still better if budget is not a problem? I usually have thinkpad T or X series.

    • same same, ok, different… ha!

  • It's going to be 2030 and PC manufacturers will still sell 1080p laptops.

    • are you referring to the resolution on the included panel, or the output via a cable?
there is a point where resolution can become too great and the image/icons etc on a smaller screen like a 15" is simply unmanageable.
so not sure how your comments meaning?

  • Is there anything in Dell thin and light offerings with a good screen and high(er) refresh rates? Something similar to Dell 7620, but with a 90hz screen?

    • +1

Only G series and Alienware laptops has a higher refresh rate screen, the lightest and thinnest amoung them is Alienware x14, far from similar to Inspiron 16.

      • Thanking you kindly, I feared as much. Looks like Lenovo may be the only option, but I am yet to find one with upgradable RAM from them.

        • +1

Besides Lenovo, Asus also have non-gaming laptops with high refresh rate screen, e.g. ZenBook and VivoBook Pro.

  • Would this be ok to use lightroom on occasionally?

    • Ok yes, amazing/super great… i'd prefer to see a dedicated GPU. But if light usage, then i'd say it will be perfectly fine.

  • Would this be comparable, which would you pick? Just need a generally fast laptop that can handle some photo editing on LR and PS.

    • near enough to the same.
quick skim from my phone, i can see three main differences.
      1. Win home v Win Pro
      2. DDR4 v DDR5
      3. 15" v 13" (and res)

I'd personally go with the 15", WPro, and DDR4 version. I like a bigger screen and Pro OS.
DDR4 v DDR5, you are not going to notice the difference and the 15" is cheaper.

If you want the smaller screen and there is a reason for the higher res, then go with the 13"… Otherwise for what you have said you want to use it for, why bother IMO?

      • Thanks for the quick reply.
Did you mean 16"? And switch out the win 11 home for the pro ?

        • +1

          sorry - yes 16"
But it might be too big for some…

U could swap /UPG home to pro, but you might not need it. Depends what you want/need.
Just keep home if you are ok with that. same same but different if that covers things… I run a sandbox and VM on mine from time to time depending on what im doing, so use Pro for hyper-V in this case.

  • Woop, just ordered one. Total came to $1,198 with discounts and then also got 6% cashback ($71.93). Hopefully it will last me a while.
