Don't think cashback price can be in title

I also paid 2.5k. Nothing to be sad about. Just how life works.

    Also, fantastic laptop.

    Beautiful display.

    • +9

$350 saving isnt much after a model is 12 months old? I would say 2.5k last year is better value than this now.

      • +6

agree. can buy more lettuce last year than today

      • Yeah, it was a ridiculous deal at the time.

        Very happy with it.

        • I also got it last year but the wifi card wasn't good and always drop out, wonder if you have the same experience?

          • +1

@Laryy: I believe that is common with the Realtek WiFi in these laptops. I don't use the wifi on mine.
A lot of people change the WiFi adaptor to an Intel AX200 or Intel AX210 ($30 - $40) and have a much more stable WiFi experience.

          • @Laryy: I have a MediaTek one for you to try if you're interested.

            • +1

@albert0pia: thanks, I already switch my wifi card to an intel one :)

  • -8

if only this is intel…. there must be reasons why most deals are for amd

    • +7

      power and heat

    • +1

Only advantage is thunderbolt port which not many people use/know about/care.

I have this exact model and works fine with the type c dock I have at home.

      • Which dock do you use?

        • Dell w19tb dock.

My wife got it from work.

    • +1

This attititude is part of the reason why.

  • +1

Paid 2.7k August last year with the exact specs. Great laptop. Very nice screen.

  • Not very IT savvy. Keen to find out how this compares to Dell upcoming G16.

    • +1

This is the best one in it's class for mid-spec gaming laptops, superior to the Dells.

  • Paid 2.4k June last year for the Legion 7, but same specs as above. Great laptop, hasn't skipped a beat. Replaced my aging desktop with it and was well worth it.

  • -1

Damn, great specs and price! I bought a 3060 Razer blade 17 for similar money for productivity and occasional gaming. Regreting it now!

  • Just a shout out… I almost bough it yesterday, but missed the cashrewards of 14%, now it is only 9%, which means $114 difference. Also, try to create a new account to get an additional $102 discount.

  • -3

Bought the 3060 model during the black friday for about $2,000 last year as the 3070 version had 11 weeks lead time in the US. Is it too late to return it for this?

    • +9

Yes, 9 months is too late to return.

    • +1

      LOL

  • +1

    No pcie4

    • What do you need it for?

  • +12

"I paid 2.5k for the same specs last year :(…"

Put it this way, you paid $201.00 for 7+ months of enjoyment :)

  • Bought the same model last Dec for $2500, it's a really good machine.

  • Would this run VR on relatively high graphics? Also windering if it would run MFS? I'm very new to the PC world

  • this or alienware 3070 deal from yesterday

    • +3

      This

    • +2

      Legion all the way

    • Alienware is cheap but good specs but runs hella hot, this checks all boxes good build quality also legion is top tier

  • Lenovo can have this upvote for shipping me $500 yesterday.

    • they put 500 in crisp notes and shipped it to you?

      • Good point, I still haven't gotten my cashback yet..

        • would be a great deal if you could buy $500 worth of notes for $500, free shipping and get cashback on that thing haha

  • +1

INTEL for $100 cheaper but 16 GB memory and 512 GB or AMD?

      for me, intel
you can upgrade ram and ssd later (which will be cheaper than today)- if you dont need it like right now
but you cant upgrade your usb to thunderbolt 4

but many will disagree … im not expert anyway

      • Thought AMD is better for cooling. Will the Intel throttle?

    • +3

Memory and SSD are easily upgraded, but not CPU. So, which CPU do you want?

If you need Intel and Thunderbolt 4, get the lesser specs and put the $100 towards the RAM or SSD upgrade you might want. Or if you've already got RAM or SSD use that.

My AMD version, these exact specs, is doing fantastically. As another user said, it replaced my old desktop and copes with everything I've thrown at it.

I prefer having the 32GB RAM and the 1TB SSD over Intel and saving $100, as $100 won't cover the upgrade cost without the hassle of trying to sell off the included gear. I want my 50+ tabs in my browser, and multiple apps and windows all over the place, so 32GB is awesome headroom. 512GB and even 1TB for games can get eaten up quick - I assume you'll game on this machine - so go for more.
Edit: note that it can take 2 SSDs - can just add another. I'd still prefer 1TB + extra over 512GB + extra

      • -1

My old laptop has 8gb ram and an i7 and I just have hundreds of tabs open 🤣you'd hope these new systems handle it easy

    • Unless you really need Thunderbolt, the AMD version is way better.

  • +1

Paid 2.3k for a legion 7 with same specs few months ago and came with a free watch also

    • what's the diff between legion 5 and 7?

      • +1

Build quality and rgb and cooling. Total metal construction.

      • The 5 looks more conservative the 7 is a rainbow coloured disco rage.

    • -1

how come i missed that deal ???

  • I’m guessing this is an awesome laptop for AAA games? (Assassins Creed, The Quarry, Horizon), also plays valorant and apex (fps games) so a decent fps would be great

If someone says yes, I’m immediately biting the bullet. Was saving for a desktop but portability matters to me the more I think about it so i might grab this instead

    • Yea! It's a monster. Unless you want to hook it up to a 4k monitor.

  • +2

At this point, this is just an appreciation post for everyone who bought this exact model last year, meself included. And it is a beast, worth the $200 more paid for it. Mustn't forget @doweyy was the MVP for that round of purchases.

  • Great laptop I got the 3060 version last year.

    Amazing screen great build quality.

    Well worth it

  • when OP says it was ONLY 2.5 k last year…

I feel like this is more expensive than last year lol

  • Can anyone comment on battery life

Looking for normal productivity like multiples excels word browser as daily use

    Only gaming ocassionally

    Thanks

    • This would be an overkill for light gaming. However I also have this laptop since December and it is fantastic for gaming. Battery is not the best though. If you want really good battery life, get other laptops (maybe a Macbook Air/Pro).

      • Hi i already got 2020 air and recently need to display two 32 inch monitors for work. This seems to do it without any additional display dock unlike air but really concern about battery life

        • If you're using it with 2x 32 inch monitors, won't you be near a power outlet anyway? Gaming laptops are not ideal if you want longer battery life.

          • @Kyx: True thanks man

  • paid $1890 in march. great lappy.

    • +1

      3070?

      • Yep. 3070

    • +2

That would have been for the 16gb 512gb ssd version, right? not the 32gb 1tb?

  • Just bought the alienware with the same spec on ebay for 1800. Is it worth the extra $$

  • Can any share any thoughts/experience on what Lenovo support is like? I'm tossing up this or a Dell XPS. My experience with Dell support is extremely good. I've had an XPS 15 for nearly 4 years now, a year ago had an issue with sound, tech came out replaced the sound module and while he was looking at it, ended up replacing whole motherboard, keyboard and touch pad following day. Pretty ended up with a new laptop after that.
Looking for a new work laptop and this new laptop has to last me 4 years as well, worried Lenovo support won't carry me through.

    • I bought this exact Lenovo and it had issue with wifi. They came over and replaced it no worries. The wifi module that is.

      • Ta, bought it with their premium care. Hope I don't ever have to find out if their service is as good as Dell.

  • If we're smart people can chain that bonus $150 credit and share the extra saving?

Person A buys and gives them credit to person B for $75?

Or just needs to be person a buys the laptop for person B, might be too messy

    • That's way too messy with warranties.. and trusting strangers.

      Here's an idea.

Why dont you purchase 1.. get the $150. Purchase a second one with the $150.
Then cancel 1st order before they send it.

Off course.. Lenovo might refuse and you might end up with 2 laptops…

      • If I do this 14 times I get a free laptop, or 14 $2200 laptops

        • Pretty sure you only get the $150 rewards once you've received the order. When I bought my Legion 5 Pro earlier this year, I had $0 balance until I actually received the laptop. Otherwise it stays pending.

  • Got mine for $1800 three months ago

    • With 3070 though?

      • would have been the 16gb/512gb ssd version - I believe that is the version with the RAM that hampers gaming performance slightly. Might be worth checking the speeds vs the jarodtech video Believ3r as if they have the readings, you can get a fair chunk of performance increase from swapping the ram out.

      • Yes and 16’ screen

  • Just need to walk this through TRS now.

  • +1

will get mine for 1600 in three to six months

    • if theres any stock left, but im also waitting lol

  • This is a great deal. No doubt the replacement model will be a small bump in specs and they'll jack the price back up to $3200 or more. Get this while you can. Just test the shit out of it when it arrives to make sure you don't have a dud screen / trackpad etc. Lenovo is excellent value but pretty worrying QC at times.

    • Confirm Lenovo QC concern. Bought a Yoga 7i, fans droned fast, unvarying and continuously even in sleep, Lenovo support couldn't fix it, refunded.

At this price, I'd expert touch sensitivity. No touchscreen? no fingerprint reader? No Thunderbolt?

  • Would it be worth it to switch from the 12700h + 3060 + 512gb m.2 + 16 GB ddr5
    to the
    11800h + 3070 + 512gb m.2 + 16gb ddr4 for $50 more?
I do quite a bit of gaming.

    • Decent downgrade on the cpu side and only a minor improvement on gpu depending on your max tgp
      .

  • I've been waiting for a few days now to hear back if Cashrewards will honour the SAVE + rewards dollar price. I know someone else had said they wouldn't honour with the SAVE coupon, which didn't make much sense.

    • ooo that could explain why my order didnt get tracked… but the 16% CASHBACK was worth more than $200 so will have to chase it up

      • Even if you used a code, it should get tracked, and then denied when Lenovo tells CR that the code was used.

      • +1

I got a reply today that SAVE should work, but they didn't clarify using the reward points or not

        • My partner ended up buying one, it looks like it registered, but only for ~80 - 7% should have been closer to 160, so it's like it only did 3.5% which is odd

          • @lulzenberg: Update: Cashrewards has asked for a copy of the invoice to investigate, but as that can't be generated until it's shipped and the shipping date has changed from Today to an estimate of Wednesday (here's to hoping that actually stays that way), it won't be getting looked at for a bit.

      • Have just had cashrewards come back and update the tracking on my partner's from 3.5% to 7% (it was done after the 14% cut off). They have said that it will still come down to Lenovo okaying it though in the end (90-100 days from now lol)

  • Thought about cancelling Alienware m17 r5 order for this. But cbf…

  • A mate has just gone to use their quoted price today on this model and it won't let him due to there not being enough stock, but the website still says its ready to ship - I think at one point there were over 1100 sold in one day during the sale. I've got a feeling we're looking at delays here hah. Shipping for my partner's order has already changed from the 1st of August to the 3rd and they haven't even opened for business yet.

    • Did their quote contain customised parts? Did they modify anything when they received the quote?

A lot of the time lenovo pre builds specific configurations so they can ship them out fast. So if you customise outside of the pre build they will need to custom make it, leading to weeks of delay.

      • No changes, just a preapproved quote containing the model in this post with SAVE added. Won't let him turn it into an order as it says no stock. Here's hoping they didn't oversell it on the weekend.
