eBay is within $1/$2 on most with the current 17% off for plus members, but yeah…
If anyone wants/is interested in a little UPG on their notebooks that the above is suitable for.
I just grabbed one for the latest trashbook i've set up.

Don't forget shopback/cashback are offering 1.5% and 2% on PC gear at the moment from Amazon. At least, thats what the chrome plugin is showing.

End of the day, for general usage - ae you going to notice the difference? aaahhh, let me put it this way, do you notice any difference with your eye blink rate from one min to the next?

Remember, if you mix and/or match sticks, the rates are impacted also…

Great for all the budget gaming laptops that gets posted here.

    • Yep, great deal. I paid $52 for mine.

  • Is this the fast ram or the slow ram?

    • +3

Slow but for laptops and form factor it is fast. You can get faster but it will require XMP which many laptops do not support so "faster" RAM will actually be even slower than this.

  • Anyone paired the 3200 with an Intel Nuc? 11th gen? Looking to simplify my parents old ITX rig into a NUC. May pre buy this RAM.. (NUC11PAHi3)

  • Is it possible to pair this with 16gb DDR4 SODIMM 3200MHz in my Lenovo IdeaPad 3 gaming laptop?

    • If the die inside of the RAM is the same, then it should be fine, you just might have to lower the frequency on both.

I don't know enough about laptop RAM to answer the first question for you.

    • +1

Yes but I wouldn't. If you mix your 16GB with the 8GB it will run in asynchronous dual channel which is better than single channel but not as fast as dual channel. You would be better of buying two of these 8GB sticks and running them in dual channel or buying a single 16GB stick for dual channel with your currently installed stick. I did the latter with the same laptop and it's been running great.

      • Thanks for the information. Do you think I need to find a single rank ram as my current 16gb RAM one shows as a single rank in CPUZ specs?

        • +1

I would opt for single rank but it would probably work with a dual rank but that introduces more potential conflicts so may lead to instability. In your position I would either buy a 2x16GB dual rank kit (TimeTec kit on Amazon is quite good) or a single 16GB single rank with your current memory for dual channel ($90 for a crucial on Amazon) or 2x8GB ($74) from this deal which would give you dual channel but you would only have 16GB of RAM and the one included in your laptop wouldn't be used. I think the best option is to just buy the Crucial 16GB single rank stick. The samsung memory that comes with the Ideapad works fine with it. Dual rank performance isn't really worth the extra money.

          • @Yuri Lowell: Thanks, Yuri for the explanation. I will stick to 16gb single channel.

  • Are these x8 or x16?

    • +1

Scan the page for the wording 1Rx8 and 1Rx16.

    • +1

Sounded like it was luck of the draw when I looked into it a few weeks back.

      • Yeah, it's very unlikely that a vendor will list this information on the page, similar to the type of die and even sometimes the primary timings.

I haven't opened the pages yet to see what's listed.

  • -1

    Also is CL22 crap?

    • +1

It's crap for desktop but this is laptop ram which is pretty standard speed without using XMP which many laptops do not support.

      • +1

read the update on the OP.
links for CL rates and close speeds above.

    • +1

CAS combined with the clockrate gives you the "true latency" which is 13.75ns in this instance. It's not great, 2400mhz CAS 16 would be faster. There are other timings involved in memory but it's hard to be picky with laptop memory at this price.

If you just want some extra ram it doesn't really matter all that much. If you're using integrated graphics on a laptop without a dedicated GPU it matters lots. If you're trying to breathe life into a Ryzen 3000 series or older laptop it can have an impact. It's really not a huge deal and you'd have to spend a lot of extra money and check what memory your laptop even supports if you want something better (most laptops won't even support memory much faster than this).

      • (adding onto Unicorn's message)
CAS = CAS Latency = CL
CL is measured in clock cycles.

Ryzen's CPUs are affected noticeably by RAM variables.
Intel's CPU, not so as much. (disregarding the size of the memory)

  • +1

The Cas Latency doesn't determine the quality of RAM, in fact, the CL doesn't even make that much of a difference when compared to the other timings.

Would you believe me if I told you the Cas Latency had absolutely nothing to do with latency? These companies have done an excellent job with their long-term marketing goal ploys. Lol

    • Hmm. Aside from frequency then, what do you look at to determine/compare the quality of the RAM? (Assuming everything you're looking at is 1Rx8)

      • Well, users are saying that its common for laptops not to be able to use the RAM's XMP/AMP, which would make a lot of the information irrelevant.

It's hard for me to answer that, as I'm not sure what information directly carries over from SDRAMs(PC RAM) to the SO-DIMMs(laptop RAM).

  • Ordered this 2 days ago and arrived today. Didn't realise was ozbargain price, happy times!

  • Is this the one for nitro 5 Acer?

    • I put this in my nitro:

      HyperX HX432S20IBK2/32 Kingston Technology Impact 32GB 3200MHz DDR4 CL15 260-Pin SODIMM Laptop Memory Black 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB)

I previously had ordered the below, but it didnt work (think faulty) - but never refunded as covid and didnt want to leave the house (I still dont want to lol)

      Crucial RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL22 (or 2933MHz or 2666MHz) Laptop Memory CT2K16G4SFRA32A

  • Would any of these work in a Synology ds-720+? I've heard it's picky about which ram it takes.

    • +1
      • Thanks, didn't know that service existed. Unfortunately it doesn't list the DS720+ as a model for comparison.

        • +1

          No prob.
Just cos its not listed doesn't mean it wont work.
If the DS-720 takes a 260pin SODimm, its likely to be just fine.

          https://www.synology.com/en-global/products/DS720+#specs

          Memory
          System Memory 2 GB DDR4 non-ECC
          Total Memory Slots 1
Maximum Memory Capacity 6 GB (2 GB + 4 GB)

          Should be just fine.
          I've not personally tested though.

  • Ty!!!!

  • 16 GB one is $89 in another ozb deal

    16 GB $89 = https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08C511GQH
    32 GB $146.50 = https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07ZLC7VNH

    • Have you bought the $146.50 one before?

It doesn’t seem to be the same as the top one? Was expecting it to be CT32G4SFRA32A.

      • nope, I am getting 16 GB one for Nitro 5
There was another 32 GB for $147 sold by and delivered by Amazon AU in the morning though, now it seems to be $159 and KS computer one is $146.50
