What is Accor Plus?
Accor Plus is a paid loyalty program that operates at over 1,000 hotels across Asia Pacific. This includes a growing portfolio of participating hotels in Australia and NZ, covering high end brands such as Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery. Key benefits include 1 x complimentary hotel night (worth up to $400 or more), 50% off dining across hotels in Australia and Asia-Pacific, access to deeply discounted hotel sales, and VIP perks when you check in. Read our comprehensive overview of the program here.

Get a complimentary hotel stay worth up to $400 or more
The key benefit is 1 x complimentary 'Stay Plus' hotel night each year that can be redeemed for a participating property.
While there are some blackout dates and limitations in play, if you can get organised to book your night in advance, it's entirely possible to lock in a stay with up to $400 or even more in value - fully offsetting the membership fee. In Australia, Accor Plus tells us that the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour is the most popular property this benefit is redeemed at each year.

If you have a particular redemption in mind, we are happy to search the Accor Plus website for 'Stay Plus' availability for specific dates/properties. Feel free to comment below or drop me a message if you would like assistance.

Other Accor Plus benefits:

  • Up to 50% off dining at over 1100 hotel restaurants (you don't need to be staying at a hotel to use this benefit)
  • Up to 50% off exclusive sales (Red Hot Room offers, Early access to Accor global sales)
  • Status fast track to ALL- Accor Silver (get free drink vouchers, late checkout) - or ALL Gold status via the Qantas offer, if you're eligible
  • 3 x 'Member For a Day' Certificates per membership year (a little-known benefit that can see you gift Accor Plus benefits to a friend or family member for 24 hours)

Accor Plus membership types

Accor Plus offers two distinct membership types: the standard ‘Explorer' membership (which includes all the benefits listed above) and top tier ‘Discovery' which costs $96 more and arguably offers limited additional benefits.

Membership Type Price
Explorer $399
Discovery $495

Bad timing. I have taken up the free Gold status upgrade instead.

    • Link?

    • You can take up both, which could help to maximise benefits (such as an upgrade when you book with preferential Accor plus rates). When you purchase Accor Plus at ALL Gold level, your status will update to Accor Plus Gold.

You could, but some real talk here for people.

I signed up to Accor Plus for the first time this year and I'm going to advise people not to do it unless they somehow find a way to leverage a feature of it that I can't.

I got the fast track to Silver which I thought was value but now I get free gold because of QFF, I've found that so many properties erode the value of the inclusions… there are very few high end hotels (which is where the value is) which actually comp a full free night even in a base rate for the stay plus night, it's more like a discount than a free night, with some brands giving you some minimal discount like $100 off.

I stayed in Swissotel Sydney recently and the 50% dining discount has been dropped to…. 10%. Whoop de doo. This is for one of the base brands, not the many (eg Mantra) bolt on brands that try to wriggle out of all of the Accor offers

Then there's the "Red Hot Rooms". I thought this would be huge value to me but it's been shit. A bunch of airport hotels sitting there for 60 days with nothing useful and most of the rooms that are listed are for 2 adults only so if you've got kids you get nothing.

I will never renew this thing and I'll avoid Accor in the future. I've taken a loss on this Accor Plus membership for sure, and when I give feedback they don't care one iota. It's a scam.

Someone wants to say they get value out of it, let's hear how you recouped $400 in a year. If it didn't include 20 stays in Red Hot Rooms or living near an Accor so you can dine there with the 50% discount without staying I'll be very surprised. I certainly don't see someone in my position (with kids, don't live near an Accor, not total flexibility around when I can travel) giving a very easy breakdown of how this thing can even recoup the annual cost.

Keep in mind that even with the Silver fast track offered with the $400 Accor Plus that I paid for I'd still need to stay 30 nights to get to Gold this year, but QFF silver get it for free, wtf? Why pay $400 to get a dining benefit that is available in about half of the hotels nowadays, a free stay that is little more than a discount on a base room and some cheap rooms at airport hotels you don't want to stay at during times you don't want to stay there???

        • +2

I managed to book 2x stay plus nights at Adelaide Sofitel last week for my family of 4. We used 2 Accor Plus memberships stacked with 50% off breakfast (2 cards and 4 diners)

          • +3

@dtox: Yeah so that's $800 worth of memberships for those 2 nights and the breakfast.

Did you pay anything on top of the stay plus night? (I can just check that myself) and how have you recouped the remaining amount you spent?

Remember I didn't say that using the stay plus with kids doesn't work, I said the Red Hot Rooms are always for rooms which allow only 2 adults in my experience. And Red Hot Rooms only apply to one rate so if you have kids you can't get any discount at all.

If you didn't pay a cent for those rooms you're still down about $180 on those memberships. If you did pay anything (and I have found very few zero rate Stay Plus stays ever) then you need to deduct that from the value.

You may… and I say may… break even on this, but unless you have a bunch of other stays lined up what's the value in breaking even at best?

            • @trotsky: As a note
Sofitel Adelaide has been $330 per night lately for most nights. So that was maybe $660 value

            • @trotsky: Actually only $337 worth of memberships. One is from an old Amex Platinum account which still keeps giving the membership free each year even though the card account is closed. The other was bought via Indonesia where the offer at the time gave 2 stay plus nights for $337.

I paid an extra $80 for adjoining rooms as have a baby but there were 2 rooms available each for $0 using stay plus night.

In previous years I'd often use my stay plus at Mt Lofty House in the Adelaide Hills which usually sells at $400 p/n.

Everyone's uses vary but I still see the benefit of having a membership. I'll also be Accor Plus Gold soon once my status upgrade from Qantas kicks in so might get a room upgrade in the future

        • Quite simply made my money back in one 5-night stay in Sydney Sofitel.
Booking.com price was $1350 (breakfast not included).
Paid $940 (free night stay, breakfast included, free cocktails for two every day I was there).
Plus used the 50% off all my meals.

          Definitely made my money back.
On top of that I only paid $250 for my Accor Plus membership.

Travelled last month when they had the double points benefit as well as the fast track deal. Essentially I need to stay 5 more nights to get the Gold (cant get the QFF as I don't have Silver Status with Qantas).

Indonesia’s membership gets you 2x free nights for similar money. Worth signing up over there IMO. Feel free to pm for more deets.

          • @turkz1: PM'ed.

          • @turkz1: turkz1, can you please send me the details as well. Just PM'ed you. Thankyou.

Free upgrade doesn't guarantee you complimentary breakfast. Just so you know.

    • How how how

      edit: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/715775

Seems like the free upgrade to Gold is only valid for a year?

  • From memory the Complimentary Breakfast Voucher expires in a year time
My last voucher got expired before I realised it….

  • I thought Plus membership was meant to give you comp breakfast anyway

    • No, it gives you 50% off when you dine with 1 other adult in SOME properties

  • not a deal - accor offered me a free one night stay at any hotel for joining.
Breakfast is included in the membership

    • +1

Breakfast is only included on some rates or if you hold Accor ALL Diamond status

    • +1

Yes, the standard Accor Plus membership offering includes 1 x free hotel night (the Stay Plus benefit). Our offer provides this plus the complimentary breakfast voucher. Free breakfast isn't included in Accor Plus, rather there is a 50% dining benefit (which could extend to breakfast food items) when two people dine at participating restaurants.

      • +1

This post just made the deal sound even less appealing. Membership already includes 50% off dining so the only extra benefit you are offering is a voucher for the other 50% which is a single use voucher.

  • +1

Not a shill for Amex but there seem to be a lot of Accor Plus deals going around. Just an FYI this membership is free with the Amex Platinum charge including the complimentary night.

If you use that and the travel credit, plus the dining credit the annual fee is paid for.

I joined Accor plus before covid, I had the 1 free night stay, but we all know what covid did to the accomodation/travel sector. I couldn’t use the voucher, it lapsed. I emailed them about it, the response was they couldn’t help me as it had lapsed, that’s enough for me not re-sign with Accorplus in the future, Thanks

    • +1

I have a similar experience but very different outcome

I joined Accor plus in April 2020, they extended the 12 months membership to 18 months, so it ends in Nov 2021

Given it’s COVID Accor has introduced double status nights, and I have joined the fast track at the same time, thus I was able to earn the Platinum status by just staying 12 nights in my whole membership year

I was able to travel a few domestic trips during those non lockdown period, eg. Jan, April and June 2021

I am currently still with Platinum status until Nov 2022, and have already enjoyed the complimentary breakfast for my last 2 trips (11 nights). The hotel I stay even provide me free overnight parking due to my membership (normally $12/night)

I will for sure still renew my Accor plus even I will be downgraded back to gold next year

      Nats Same

  • In my first year of Accor Plus membership (April 21- April 22) I saved $785 in dining discounts and then redeemed the free night for a room worth $305 so I was up close to $700 on the cost of the membership.

That said I hope to God I don't ever have to do so much travel in Australia again but if you make it work for you then it's not a bad program, and when I say make it work I mean go out to Accor restaurants in your city for date nights (unless you live in Adelaide in which case you share my pain)

Also I'm not saying this is the best deal out there, just wanting to share my experience with AP

The accor loyalty program will recognise/reward bookings ONLY done via Accor direct… the only hotel chain to do this. So that means if your company / you books via a 3 rd party = no rewards/ recognition. Bad.

    • +1

      They all do this.
I book through a corporate travel agent and its all recognised. Same for PGR and Hilton

      • Marriott honours all bookings. I earn points no matter the source.

        • I know SPG used to do this, good to hear that Marriott is keeping this too.

        • What third party sites are you booking though? Do they still honor your status benefits?

          • @dtox: I usually book through Amex, and yes haven't had any issues at all. Since Amex is a travel agent it still counts but online consolidators dont count. If it's a restricted rate as opposed to a GDS rate it wont count.

You'll still get status benefits either way but you wont earn elite nights through consolidators.

The Australian Accor Plus with 1x breakfast voucher is unfortunately a no from me as it doesn’t suit my travel destinations and a little pricey but it’s a great program. But if your like me and holiday yearly in Bali – its definitely worth having Accor Plus via Indonesia (if your lucky enough to get it) as you receive yearly Indonesia only vouchers (i.e. 2x rooms upgrade certificates, 4x breakfast certificates for 2 people, 1x birthday cake & IDR 300,000 dinning certificate for groups of 6)….and the yearly membership is cheaper and you still get all other benefits.

    • Thanks. I completely forgot about those extra benefits. I signed up for the Indonesian 2 stay plus membership at the the end of 2021.

  • +1

Never give this lot your phone number. They are RELENTLESS. Literally multiple calls a day every day until you tell them you're not interested or block the number, then they'll call you again multiple times from a different number 6 or 12 months later.. then again the next year.

Plus you always get the old "this bonus offer is only valid until the end of the day, what time can I call you back". You know what they say about scams trying to create a sense of urgency..

    • Same thing I've noticed with Club Marriott, hard sell, the wax poetic about the benefits but it constantly falls short and they remove benefits all the time.

  • so if you always travel as a single person is the breakfast voucher roughly $40 value?
(not 2 x $40 vouchers that a single person could use twice)

you sound bitter trotsky…be thankful you have a wife and kids to travel with some of us only travel solo

  • FYI, there's a promo ending in 2 days, for a 2 free nights membership via Indonesia for $325 AUD instead of the usual $405.

I ended up doing this instead of getting an Australian membership. Can share further details via PM.

    • Still wouldn’t be interested, Thanks but no thanks

  • Accor Indonesia has an offer for 2 nights free at a discounted price of 325AUD and 1 night free at AUD 260 ( offer valid till 17-8-2022).
I bought this one today and is lot better than Aus or India Accor deal. However you dont get any upgrade / free breakfast vouchers with it. Feel free to DM for details.

  • Ever since Accor bought Mantra there seems to be no yearly click frenzies. Disappointing.

I’m not paying $400 for a membership to get around 10% off. I travel once/twice a year and will now prefer to search on other sites.

    Pass.
