Decent deal cheapest was $499 many moons ago but eligible for new customer cash back at cashrewards.

Brings it down to $510.

Great if you do international trips or camping etc as has a built in charging case. Cleaning module much better than Philips as it also charges.

I've had my Braun for 15 years and replacing with this. They are solid quality.

8% Cashback via cashrewards for "new" customers.

Is it still give you a life changing shave for $549?

    • +3

Look I know it's expensive but I mean the last one gave me 15 years service.

People spend way more on way less!

      • So you were using Braun series 1, 15 years ago, hence you think this worth for another 15 years?

I never used one, but I bought one for my old man, while back, series 6 I think. Then he went back to standard wet shave, it wasn't cheap either. hence the question.

I have a Series 5, it's lasted 5 years now and still works great!

You can get a new cassette for it for like $40, turns it into a brand new shaver again (I haven't had the need yet though).

        • I have a Braun Syncro 7526, I looked at the date March 2006. So actually it's 16 years old.

@meowsers: I had something similar to this purchased around 2005 and got a good 13 or so years.

Upgraded to the 9 a while back and no regrets at all, see you all in 2033

        • I had the OG Series 7 when the first clean and charges were released so maybe 2003, lasted 16 years of heavy use only died because it got dropped from a height onto a tile floor.

Bought the Series 7 to replace it, still good no issues.

At the price for this deal I'd probably pick one up if I was in the market but I wouldn't get much use out of the charge case. If its compatible with other models and the price workes out I'd probably just sell the case on.

Some people do better with twin foils like the Braun, some people with the rotary like the Philips.

I don't need to make my balls that Gucci so no thanks

This is meh. I have one. You need a lot of strokes to get every bit of hair and stretch your skin a fair amount to get it closeish. Although it does last ages. Mines now 6years old

I've tried everything, the philips circular shaving ones I cant get the movement right and always seems to give me ingrown hairs. I think it's also dependent on your hair type.

My old one I changed out the cartridges more or less once every 2 years just to keep it like new.

      • Yeah definitely varies on the person. I had bad experiences with units like this. Sure it was much closer but it took much longer. Went back to 3 rounded, I replaced blades once, and rinse and use spray on after every use.

    • You could try using shaving cream/gel. Just make sure it is fully dry before you plug it in or the charging port will start to corrode (at least charging with a normal cable, haven't tried one with a stand). I had a Braun that lasted 10 years dry shaving but only a few months after I started wet shaving and plugging it in while wet the terminals corroded and rusted and one is now stuck in the plug.

    • none of them give you a clean shave, i always start with electric and finish off with the razor,

I bought this a few months ago at 10% off this price on ebay and honestly it has been well worth it IMO. Before this I was using a pretty top spec 5 blade Panasonic I bought in Japan. That one did the job but I always felt it took too long to get a close enough shave and it would irritate my skin. The Braun has cut my shaving time in half compared to the Panasonic and no irritation whatsoever.

This seems like an absurd price. My series 7 cost me less than a third of this deal, does the series 9 really shave that much better? I have been very happy with the series 7 performance.

I've had my Braun for 15 years and replacing with this. They are solid quality.

Why do you think an electric razer from 15 years ago is comparable to this model? Braun/Gilette would only have just been acquired by Procter & Gamble that long ago.

I'm not saying it's an equivalent. I've just been waiting for the top of the line one to come out because I specifically wanted the charging case and sort of the top of the line one.

Series 7 is a much better electric shaver than Series 9 by my experience.

I have the Series 9, an upgrade from the Series 7 (my Series 7 broke after I dropped it).

I shave daily and prefer the Series 7 much, much more. Its smaller head gave me a closer shave and manoeuvrability. The Clean and Renew cartridge lasted significantly longer.

Like the poster above, with the Series 9 I have to stretch my skin to get a close shave, and even then I have to run over some patches with a dry razor to catch the stray hairs.

Honestly, s(h)ave your money on this one. But YMMV.

I have both Braun 9 pro and Panasonic ELV65. It's difficult to have close shaving by using Braun 9 pro for whatever reason. I have tried both dry and wet shaving. Panasonic shaver is better in my view.

  • I recon the cleaners on these are a scam. I had a series 8 with the cleaner and whilst u have to buy this magic cleaning liquid, the foils broke every year. I then bought the series 9 without the cleaner and had it for over 3 years and the foil hasn't broken. I brush it down after every shave and it's perfect. Don't get sucked in to paying constant money when u don't need to.

    • fair enough. just remember if you take the foil off to clean it that you put it back in the same orientation (not flipping the top part one way or the other) or it can eat through the foil. I change mine every 2 years because when I've waited longer A) it literally ate through the foil and nearly cause me a massive cut and B) it cuts way better.

I would never wait 3 year to change it.

I'll post back how it's been going at the next deal lol

  • Love my series 7. Also going on 12 odd years with changes in foils. Can’t vouch for this unit but they make fantastic shavers.
