  • Great price. Bought this at the start of the year for $320 and back then I thought I had got a decent price.

    • lol, I bought it for $399 in August 2021.

      • same 369$, and its halved price

        • How's the performance so far? Games well?

  • +1

    Yeah its juicy.

Amazon AU has this at $226 delivery included with prime so its pretty much the same.

    • +2

I want a 5600 for $200 - how do you like my chances?

      • You can have a 5500 for $209

      • +1

I'm waiting for 199$ delivered for the G. Maybe get a 5600X if price is right considering GPUs are getting cheap.

        • Would be nice, but the extra $50 for the X is hard to justify.

  • +3

Why is the 5700G at $379 so expensive compared to the performance gains.

    • +1

      Yeah couldn't justify it.

Love the CPU, can play doom3 at 1440p@90hz. Im amazed since I remember buying GPUs for that game when it was released and it struggles.

    • +2

Yeah 4% is tiny for the increased cost.

    • 5600g is more popular, not many bought 5700g cept me :)

      • 5700G pretty good need those extra cores for my VM's

  • wow that is a great price!

As I said https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711375#comment-12377106, the price for computer chips will be further drop in Aug. Mark my word.

    • does that prediction include ram components as well?

    • You said 50%, and I assume you meant across the board - otherwise it would be a meaningless prediction (select chips which are aging drop price all the time). I will come back here in October to collect on this promise

    • +1

So you're basically saying inflation will cause computer chips to decrease in price…?

      • +1

        totally how economics works

      • +1

The sanction imposed on Huawei and other Chinese high tech company leaded to the over stockpile of computer chips, plus high inflation limits consumers buying power, the price will continue to drop.

        • +1

It's silicon in computer chips, not lead

        • -1

Don't worry about these people. Their arrogance is so ironic since their understanding of economics doesn't require imagination

    • Will I get my $220 5800x3d in August?

      • Haha, let’s hope. Maybe a 5600x3d could be happening but $$ who knows.

        • +3

          Username checks out

    • +1

I think you should put some money where your words are? What really saying is you should make a bet that prices will drop by XX% as it is unlikely that prices will drop by more than a few basis points

    • Mark my word.

      Which one?

  • Oooooh, very tempted to pick this up now even though I was going to do a GPU upgrade now and hold off a bit for a CPU

  • +3

Just don't get this confused with the Ryzen 5 5600 (non-G)

    • +1

      What's the difference performance wise?

  • +1

I meen if you do it's your own fault :)

  • I have a Ryzen 5 3600.

    Is it worth upgrading?

    • +2

From what I recall seeing, there's negligible gains to be had doing this (Got the 3500x myself, so was thinking of doing the same), and the consensus was to go for the 5600 or 5600x.

    • Watch this video https://youtu.be/ifI9nnmW5sg. Tech Jesus explains the reasoning for upgrade from 3600 at the end. He also mentions about 20% performance gain.

    • +1

Hard no, unless you only game at 1080p, and you are really craving a 0-10% FPS improvement in some games.

That's $209 that could go to a next gen CPU or GPU in a year or two that is an actual human-noticeable upgrade.

      • +2

        Thanks for this feedback.

The games I play are not very heavy on the CPU or GPU.

        I'll HODL.

  • Their shipping is $15. If you're in Western Sydney, this is an alternative for $218.57 pick up…

    • +1

JW dropped their price further to beat PCCG, $208.57 now.

  • So much for checking with staticice.com.au?

    https://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=5600g&spos=6

    • +2

those type of sites are slow to update and doesn't register flash sales or limited time deals.

  • I have a 4650G is it worth the upgrade ?

  • Isn't the 7600G coming out in the next 3 months with the 7 series AMD CPU's?

    • No word on the desktop APUs yet.

    • I doubt there will be any more Ryzen APUs that use AM4.

  • Amd or Intel? Haven't built a computer in years, quite out of touch.

Computer will be used for general office work, powerbi and data analysis, and light gaming.

    • +1

the one in question is perfect for you.

  • It is great to see prices coming down, when everyday items going up in price makes bargaining so much more valuable!

  • +1

Sad, bought a 3600 brand new 5 months ago for $280

    • +1

I feel your pain, I bought late last year for around $300 :(

      • and 1 month after i bought it, the 5600 dropped to $280 haha rip

  • Is this a worthy upgrade from Ryzen 3700x?

    • +1

      @sedi no .

      • Thanks

  • +1

    WRAITH STEALTH wow so cool!

    • Coming from the console world I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or if this is like putting a Type R sticker on your Getz

      • I don't know what it is, but it sounds supercool. haha

  • Looking at building a cool little pc for my kids and been waiting for this to come down in price!

Think I could keep a total build under $500?

    • Yes.. but no keyboard, mouse or monitor, just the box*, and you'd need to get deals on the hardware for a decent build(all new parts).

*No video card included. Based on integrated graphics with CPU, for eg. AMD Ryzen 5 5600G

  • Wow… wonder if I should build a second pc just for fun… Totally am satisfied with 3600 though.

    • +1

You could always have better performance.
I am waiting for the 5800X3D price to drop and upgrade from 3600 as well.

  • One thought about the integrated graphics vs. none is that you do have a fall-back. Helps in troubleshooting, immensely, if your dedicated GPU fails. If it does, you're not dead in the water. FYI.

    • +1

You are sacrificing performance for the remote possibility of your graphics card failing when you can just buy a cheap GT730 card <100$ for that purpose. The G version is engineered for systems without a graphics card. There are minor differences between the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 variants:

      Feature/Variant 5600G 5600 5600X
      PCIe Version 3.0 4.0 4.0
      L3 Cache (MB) 16 32 32
      Base Frequency (GHz) 3.9 3.5 3.7
      Boost Frequency (GHz) 4.4 4.4 4.6
      Max Temp (°C) 95 90 95
